Chapter 6: 006
...3 years later...
The classroom was filled with tension. The students, focused on their exams, hurriedly filled out their papers. Nervous sighs could be heard, along with the scratch of pencils on paper and the occasional creak of a chair. The teacher, with a stern expression, walked between the rows, keeping a close eye on everyone to make sure no one tried to cheat.
However, there was one exception: Yuto. Sitting at his desk, he was completely relaxed. He twirled his pencil between his fingers, his chin resting in his palm. His gaze wasn't on the exam, but rather on the clock hanging on the wall, watching the minutes tick by slowly.
When there were only ten minutes left, Yuto stood up from his seat. The sound of the chair scraping the floor broke the silence of the room. All heads turned toward him, and curious looks followed his every move as he calmly walked toward a classmate's desk. Without saying a word, he picked up their exam and began flipping through it as though reading a magazine.
The room fell into complete silence. The students stopped writing, bewildered by what they were witnessing. Even the teacher, who had halted her rounds, stared at him in disbelief, as if she couldn't believe what was happening.
"Nishimura!" she finally exclaimed, her voice full of authority and disbelief. "What do you think you're doing?"
Yuto calmly raised his gaze, as though the question were unnecessary. "Huh? Isn't it obvious? I'm copying the answers," he replied, with a disconcerting level of serenity.
Whispers spread like wildfire. The students exchanged glances, unsure whether they were more impressed by Yuto's audacity or his apparent indifference. The teacher, seemingly on the verge of losing control, pointed at Yuto firmly.
"Return that exam right now!"
But Yuto didn't obey. With a calm smile, he reached for another exam from a nearby desk. The student protested weakly, unsure of how to react. The teacher, her patience running thin, moved toward him, determined to stop him, but Yuto was faster. With swift movements, he dodged the teacher and began to move around the room, collecting exams from other desks. With every step, the students' expressions ranged from astonishment to confusion. No one understood what he was doing or why.
Eventually, the teacher caught up with him, determined to stop him once and for all. But just before she could touch him, Yuto activated his Quirk. In the blink of an eye, the world around him changed.
When Yuto opened his eyes, he found himself back in his seat, watching the teacher calmly walk through the room, handing out exams as if nothing had happened. He picked up the exam that had been on his desk and began answering the questions with ease, a slight, clever smile forming on his face.
...
...
The main hallway of the school was crowded with students who were gathered around the grade board. The atmosphere was filled with sighs, exclamations, and anxious murmurs as everyone searched for their name on the list. Some let out a sigh of relief upon finding a good grade, while others, frustrated, scratched their heads or crossed their arms, disappointed.
Yuto approached with his hands in his pockets, his usual carefree expression. No one seemed to notice him, too focused on their own results. Calmly, he made his way through the crowd.
When he reached the board, his eyes scanned the list until he found his name. There it was: Nishimura, Yuto - 100. A small, satisfied smile appeared on his lips.
"What? A hundred!?" exclaimed a nearby boy, catching the attention of those around him.
The murmurs in the hallway grew louder. Slowly, more students noticed Yuto's grade, and disbelief was written all over their faces.
"How did he do it?" asked a girl, tucking her hair behind her ear.
"He must have cheated," murmured a boy, eyeing Yuto suspiciously.
"But... who could he have copied from? No one else got a hundred," added another student, crossing her arms and frowning at the board.
"Maybe it was a mistake," commented a boy with glasses, adjusting them as he analyzed the situation. "Maybe the teacher made an error when recording the grades."
"Do you really think someone like him could get a hundred?" said another, with a tone full of skepticism.
"Quiet down!" interrupted a teacher walking through the hallway, giving a stern look to the group. The murmurs immediately stopped, but the curious stares at Yuto didn't disappear. Unfazed, Yuto turned around and started walking toward the exit of the hallway, ignoring the whispers behind him.
...
....
...
The schoolyard was full of life. Laughter, conversations, and hurried footsteps filled the air as students enjoyed their break between classes. Groups gathered under the sun, sharing stories and jokes. However, away from the noise, under the shade of a sturdy tree, stood Yuto. Standing with his hands in his pockets and his face hidden behind a mask and dark sunglasses, he observed from a distance with an unsettling calmness.
Nervous footsteps approached him. A student appeared in front of Yuto, looking around anxiously before speaking. Finally, with a trembling voice, he asked:
"Y-You're Nishimura, right?"
Yuto didn't bother looking at him. His attention remained focused on the yard full of students. After a moment of silence, he responded:
"Depends. Who's asking?"
The boy swallowed nervously, his anxiety growing. After taking a deep breath, he said:
"I'm Taro, second year. I heard... you have the answers to the exams."
The words came out quickly, as if he wanted to get them off his chest. Yuto slightly turned his head towards him, but his eyes remained hidden behind the sunglasses.
"And what do you expect me to do with that?" he replied calmly.
Taro hesitated, nervously moving his hands. "I-I need help with the exams... They're in a week, and I..." His words got stuck in his throat, but finally, he dared to say: "I can pay you."
Yuto lowered his head slightly, as if evaluating him. After a moment of silence, he asked:
"Do you have the money?"
Taro hesitated but nodded. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a stack of yen. He extended it with trembling hands. Yuto calmly took it, counting the money, one bill at a time. Once done, he tucked it into his jacket pocket and pulled out a folded piece of paper.
"Here you go," he said, handing it to him. "Memorize it all."
Taro took the paper as if it were something precious. His voice was barely a whisper:
"Thank you... really," he murmured.
"Save the words," Yuto responded without emotion. He glanced quickly around to make sure no one was watching and added: "And let this stay between us. If I get into trouble because of you, it'll be the last thing you do."
Taro quickly nodded, his expression showing both fear and respect. Before walking away, he couldn't help but ask one last question.
"How do you do it? How do you get the answers so fast?"
Yuto gave a slight smile under his mask. His response was simple:
"Professional secret."
Without saying anything else, he turned and walked calmly toward the bustle of the yard. The crowd soon swallowed him up, and his figure disappeared.
In a quieter corner of the school, he stopped. With calm movements, he took off his sunglasses and mask, tucking them into his jacket pocket. He gave a small smile and muttered to himself:
"Another satisfied customer."
Three years had passed since Yuto began his school life. Thanks to his ability to travel through time, life had been much easier than in the previous timeline. Exam answers, winning any bet, charging for doing homework... Yuto began using his power not just for fun, but also to make money. But he did it for a clear reason. He needed money to achieve his goals. How could he save the world if he didn't even have the funds to enroll in UA Academy? The orphanage, of course, wouldn't finance the tuition of a child without a Quirk to get into a hero school. Although, to be honest, he also used the money for his own interests. But those were just minor details.
Still, his school life continued without any major changes. His classmates, upon discovering that he didn't have a Quirk, completely ignored him, as if he were invisible. And Yuto didn't mind that. Their indifference contrasted with the attention from the teachers, who saw him as a model student: perfect grades, impeccable behavior. That's what really mattered. With all of that in his favor, Yuto was more than ready. If things kept going like this, UA Academy wouldn't have any reason to reject him.
As he walked down the main hallway of the school, lost in his thoughts, he bumped into someone. He stepped back and looked up. Four boys surrounded him, and they didn't look like they were there to say hello. The leader of the group was a tall, muscular guy with a scar running through his right eye. He smiled mockingly as his friends positioned themselves around him, blocking any escape.
"So you're Nishimura," the leader said, crossing his arms as the other guys positioned themselves around him.
Yuto observed them calmly, showing no reaction. After a moment of silence, he sighed and asked quietly:
"What do you want?"
The leader chuckled briefly, as if he found the situation amusing. "I've heard some interesting things about you, Nishimura. They say you have a very... profitable business. Exam answers, perfect homework... you know, those kinds of things."
"And why does that matter to you?" Yuto replied, his voice serene but filled with confidence. He wasn't the same person he had been years ago. During this time, he not only trained his body, joining the school's karate club, but also refined his ability. Now, with his time travel power, nothing scared him.
One of the thugs, a short guy with thick arms and a defiant attitude, stepped forward, puffing out his chest as if that would intimidate Yuto.
"We want our share, genius," the guy said, sneering at Yuto. "You can't make money in this school without paying your dues. That's how things work here."
The muscular thug crossed his arms, frowning. "So, what's it going to be? You collaborate, or do we do this the hard way?"
Yuto sighed, as if holding back a laugh. "You guys need to improve your script. 'Do this the hard way'? Seriously? You sound like you stepped out of a low-budget movie."
The leader of the thugs frowned, his fists clenching, but his irritation was obvious. "You're asking for trouble, Nishimura!"
But before he could continue, one of the thugs, a lanky guy with a lizard-like face, interrupted. "Hey, I heard Nishimura doesn't have a Quirk. He's just a Quirkless guy."
Laughter filled the air, and the leader smiled mockingly while cracking his knuckles.
"Ah, no Quirk? Well, that makes things a lot easier," the leader said with a wide grin, enjoying the situation.
Yuto didn't flinch. "Well, I guess there's no choice," he replied, his tone so calm that it contrasted with the rising tension. He took a step back, leaned against the nearest wall, and began to survey the area. It was isolated, with no one around to interrupt.
He looked at the group of thugs, and before they could react, he delivered a quick punch to the leader. His fist connected squarely with the guy's stomach, sending him stumbling backward several steps, while the others stared in disbelief.
The leader staggered, clutching his stomach in pain. The three remaining thugs wasted no time and attacked instantly. One of them, a bulky guy, attempted a direct punch, but Yuto, with impressive agility, crouched and easily dodged the blow. Seizing the opportunity, he spun quickly and, with a precise kick, knocked the attacker to the ground.
The second thug, the lizard-faced one, tried a strike from another angle, but Yuto, almost with disdain, blocked his punch and, with a swift wrist motion, threw him to the ground. The guy lay stunned and hurting.
Only one thug remained. Seeing his companions on the ground, he hesitated for a moment, but his rage drove him to charge at Yuto with a yell. Yuto, remaining composed, anticipated the move and, in the blink of an eye, struck him with a sharp punch to the jaw. The thug fell backward, unable to continue fighting.
Yuto stood there, watching the four thugs lying on the ground. He had won, but just when he felt secure, an invisible weight hit him suddenly, like an unseen force.
With a grunt, Yuto fell to his knees, struggling to keep his balance. The leader, still staggering but not defeated, raised a finger and pointed it directly at him. His eyes glowed with a concentrated fury.
"Did you think you won?" the leader hissed, using his Quirk to control gravity. In an instant, Yuto felt heavier than he had ever felt.
With his face pressed to the ground, Yuto tried to move his arms, but the weight kept him still. The situation had changed drastically. The thugs, who had seemed defeated moments ago, were now showing their Quirks.
The bulky guy, who had received Yuto's kick, staggered to his feet, but now his hands were transforming into huge metal hammers that reflected the sunlight. The lanky guy with the lizard face grinned maliciously, his eyes turning bright yellow as scales began to cover his skin. His teeth elongated, turning into sharp fangs. Finally, the third thug, the one Yuto had easily knocked down, started to get up as sparks of electricity ran through his body. His hair stood on end as if charged with static energy.
The guy with the hammers advanced first, raising his massive hand to crush Yuto. But before the blow could land, Yuto closed his eyes and activated his ability. In an instant, the world around him distorted and rewound, as if someone were rewinding a video tape.
When he opened his eyes, he was standing again, just before the leader of the thugs could activate his gravity ability. The scarred guy had already raised his finger, but Yuto wasted no time. He quickly picked up a stone from the ground and threw it with precision, hitting the leader in the forehead. The impact interrupted his concentration, and the leader staggered backward, stunned, with a line of blood sliding down his forehead.
Yuto didn't hesitate for a second. He moved quickly toward the leader, determined to end the fight. But just as he was about to reach him, a sharp pain shot through his body, as if hundreds of needles were piercing his skin. His muscles tensed involuntarily, and a gasp of pain escaped his lips.
With effort, he turned his head and saw the culprit. The electric guy had raised his hand toward him. Sparks ran through his body, and his hair stood on end, proof that his Quirk was active.
"How's that?" the electric guy taunted, raising his hand as small electrical discharges crackled.
Yuto didn't answer. Instead, he briefly closed his eyes, allowing his ability to activate once more. Dizziness enveloped him as time rewound. When he opened his eyes again, he was in the same spot where he had thrown the stone, just before the leader had used his ability.
Now he knew what to do. He couldn't underestimate these guys, their Quirks were deadly, and they worked well together. He took a deep breath and acted quickly.
Before the leader could raise his finger to activate gravity, Yuto picked up another stone, aimed, and threw it directly at the electric guy, who was a step behind. The stone hit his wrist hard, causing the electric guy to cry out in pain and stop channeling electricity.
"What the hell?!" the electric guy yelled, stepping back and clutching his sore arm.
Without wasting any time, Yuto ran toward the leader. With a swift move, he elbowed him in the stomach, knocking the air out of him. The leader fell to the ground, gasping for air.
The bulky guy, with hands transformed into metal hammers, roared and charged at Yuto. Yuto, calculating each move, barely dodged the first strike, feeling the heavy wind as the hammer swung right past him.
But just as he was preparing to counterattack, something cold and slippery grabbed him from behind. The lizard-faced guy had immobilized him with his claws.
"I've got you now!" he hissed, his hot breath brushing against Yuto's ear.
The bulky guy wasted no time. With a victorious roar, he raised both hammers and brought them down with full force toward Yuto.
The impact was brutal. A blinding pain overwhelmed him as he was crushed to the ground. A muffled scream escaped his mouth, but the noise from the blow almost drowned it out.
"Not again..." Yuto thought, as his consciousness began to fade. With one last effort, he closed his eyes and activated his ability.
Once again, time distorted around him, rewinding like a movie played in reverse. Yuto found himself back in the same position, just before the bulky guy charged toward him.
He opened his eyes, breathing heavily. This time, he didn't wait. He ran toward the lizard guy before he could react. Quickly, he grabbed some sand from the ground and threw it into his eyes.
"Ah! What the hell?" the lizard guy shouted, blinded by the sand and stumbling backward.
Yuto wasted no time. He turned to face the bulky guy, who was already raising his hammers again. He ran toward him, getting close enough that the thug couldn't swing his massive weapons without losing balance. Taking advantage of the proximity, Yuto jumped and landed a direct punch to the guy's jaw.
The bulky guy growled in pain, stumbling backward. The hammers crashed to the ground with a loud thud.
Yuto thought the fight was over, but when he turned, he saw the leader and the electric guy getting back on their feet.
"Really...?" Yuto muttered, clenching his fists.
...
Some time later, Yuto let out a sigh, his breathing heavy as he looked at the thugs scattered on the ground. Each of them writhed in pain or tried to get up, but none had the strength to continue.
"How many tries did it take?" Yuto thought to himself as he slowly walked toward the exit, not looking back. His body trembled slightly, almost unable to bear the weight of everything that had happened.
