Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva

Chapter 1: The Old World Beneath Ashen Clouds_2

Seeing the water droplets on the girl's palm, the Ice Spirit girl was full of curiosity and anticipation, but also a bit hesitant, only widening her eyes to watch.

After a while, the water droplet in Tilan's hand gradually gathered into a small bowl of liquid, then she reached towards Ores, "Drink, but take it slow."

Although her speech wasn't clear, the Ice Spirit girl seemed to understand, naturally gathering the strands of hair beside her ear carefully, licking the liquid in Tilan's hand.

After a moment, with the water finished, she raised her head again, her eyes showing some happiness, but still muttering unclear words, likely wanting more to drink.

"That's all for now." Tilan wanted to first lead her out of the desert, then continue to find more water.

Upon hearing this, the Ice Spirit girl seemed puzzled, not understanding why she wasn't given more water, continuing to mutter, but Tilan simply shook her head and gently held the girl in her arms, calming her down. As Tilan stroked the silver long hair again, the Ice Spirit girl's breathing gradually steadied and she stopped trying to struggle.

After soothing her for a while, Tilan led her to stand up, guiding her to walk forward step by step, slowly asking various questions, attempting to awaken the girl's original memory and personality.

Unfortunately, this conversation hadn't much of an effect, ultimately only managing to teach her to call Tilan's name, with slightly clearer speech.

"Tilan, I'm hungry," the Ice Spirit girl expressed.

"Let's walk a bit more, I saw some green ahead, probably a place with vegetation where we can find food." Though unsure if Ores understood, the girl patiently explained.

After listening, Ores indeed stopped mentioning it, continuing to follow Tilan onwards.

Two hours later, they were getting closer to the deep green forest, the ground was no longer all gravel but gradually had soil and moss, with some withered shrubs starting to appear.

Pulling aside obstructing shrubs and branches, Tilan guided Ores, letting her follow behind and continued forward. As they went deeper into the forest, the ground became increasingly damp and soft, with little bugs visible in the soil and tree bark crevices.

Though uncertain which planet it was, it seemed there were signs of life here, easing some of Tilan's initial worries.

"This way, watch the ground," Tilan advised Ores to lift and tighten her skirt to avoid snagging on rough tree bark and branches along the path, also cautioning against stepping near certain bugs.

The Ice Spirit girl wasn't concerned about her skirt being snagged, but when Tilan reminded her, she always observed and avoided the bugs carefully.

She truly seemed afraid of bugs, while not caring about the outfit being damaged, Tilan thought seeing this scene.

This was just like the past Ores, though much of her memory was lost, some habits and actions were inherited, such as her demeanor when drinking water, with Ores growing up with etiquette habits, covering her hair intentionally while eating or drinking. As for clothes, she had more than enough, changing into new outfits nearly daily during university, never repeating them.

The two walked hand in hand amidst the forest, Tilan occasionally looking up, searching for edible fruit, but with no luck, possibly due to the wrong season.

Thus, they ambled through the forest for approximately three hours, with Ores getting somewhat tired, though she didn't voice it, her movements started dragging, wanting to pause more frequently.

"Let's rest for a while then." Tilan brought her to a large tree, where the roots protruded from the ground forming something like a natural bench to sit on.

During the waiting rest, Tilan collected more water droplets, the increased moisture making it easier to gather, allowing Ores to drink her fill, and stop asking for more.

Using the remaining water, Tilan wiped Ores' face, also refreshing herself, simply washing her face and arms.

Just as Tilan was about to ask Ores to set off again, she detected a distant commotion with her keen hearing, followed by a gunshot, the sound slightly piercing, suggesting the gun barrel's seal wasn't good, unable to exert the bullet's full power.

Then came chaotic running sounds, along with faint beast roars, drawing closer.

Are they coming here, Tilan thought, glancing around, picking up a sturdy branch, stripping away excess twigs, and holding it.

After she finished preparing, the sounds of a chase were but a hundred meters away, even Ores sensed something was amiss, looking fearfully and curiously at Tilan.

"Stay hidden here, don't move." Tilan instructed, not being in her peak status and unsure if she could adequately protect Ores.

Ores nodded, then curled up, hiding in the shadow cast by the tree roots.

Seeing she understood her intention, Tilan felt much relieved, slightly moving her feet to blend lightly and quietly into the forest.

Soon, she spotted figures chasing one another in the forest. One was smaller, wearing a leather flight cap, with a simple jacket and bulletproof vest, holding a dirt-colored simple musket. After passing over a small stone mound, she quickly drew bullets from her waist, loading them into the chamber, aiming and firing at the unique 'beast' pursuing her.
