Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva

Chapter 11: Betrayal in the Night (Part 2)

After fumbling for a while, unable to open the lock and door, the black shadow hesitated and slowly left, then carefully felt his way to the cave entrance.

This is usually where the Nightwatch sleeps. At night, the passage at the entrance of the cave would close off with fence gates at both ends. If anyone tried to pass through, they would surely alarm those sleeping inside.

Approaching the fence gate, the shadow carefully and slowly blew, the rather heavy breath just enough to wake the people sleeping inside, without making the sound too loud.

Slowly, the silhouette on night watch sat up in the darkness, looking at the black shadow outside the gate, but didn't say a word.

Just like that, the two slowly opened the door.

...

"Boom!"

Tilan was startled awake by a gunshot.

Afterwards came the sound of a heavy object hitting, strange voices talking, and finally angry screams and yells.

"Wake up, Ores." Tilan immediately sat up and called to the still sleepy Ice Spirit beside her.

"Ugh." Ores rubbed her eyes and propped herself up, though she didn't know why, she managed to gather her spirit.

"Let's go outside and have a look, be careful to protect yourself." Tilan lightly pressed her finger on Ores' brow, a cold sensation instantly spreading throughout Ores' body, clearing her mind.

"Mm-hmm." She nodded repeatedly and then was pulled by Tilan, holding her hand, out of the room.

Two bodies lay in the hallway, one of which belonged to a Blue Skin Species never seen before, now shot in the head, the other was Marula, lying on the ground, breathless, soaked in blood. Nearby, Flan stood with injuries, blood covering his face.

Fire spread at the entrance of the cave, outside seemed to be filled with sharp yells, numbering no less than ten. As Tilan emerged, Guy quickly rushed out of the room and, seeing Marula dead on the ground, became furious, his gaze swept through the corridor and glanced at Flan before getting ready to charge outside, but was forced back by the engulfing flames.

The flames stirred by the people outside constantly spread inward, suffocating waves met them head-on, forcing them to retreat and avoid.

"What is this?" Just as Tilan was about to speak, Sura rushed out of the room dragging a hammer, not even having her shoes on.

"I think, the settlement has encountered some common betrayal." Flan was now wiping the blood off his face with his sleeve, then loaded bullets into his handgun once more.

"Marula went to the bathroom at night, leaning on his cane, he went out, I barely woke up, but soon heard sounds of fighting, so I rushed out, but by the time I arrived, Marula was done for, couldn't see who killed him, but for self-preservation, I had no choice but to open fire."

"Tonight's Nightwatch was..." Sura remembered something and immediately turned her gaze towards one of the rooms.

"Don't bother looking, there's no one there anymore." Guy frowned at the approaching flames, feeling his breath becoming difficult.

"If we don't rush out, we'll die here."

"But... The fire." Sura looked at the group outside, uttering nonsense, seemingly cheering, perhaps even dancing like mad, and felt uneasy.

"I'll go fetch the Moose leader." Guy quickly made the decision.

"Moose leader is?" Flan was still unaware of such a figure in the settlement.

But he soon found out, in less than half a minute, a strong, tall figure came pulling the door open from deep within the cave, his pace quickening, heavy and urgent footsteps like a war chariot, almost unhesitatingly charging towards the fire pit at the cave's entrance.

The fire pit was struck by the body covered with tawny fur, scattering burning wood and charcoal, raging sparks flying into the air.

Witnessing this scene, Flan opened his mouth wide, unable to utter a sound in amazement, then came the thick sound of a cow's lowing from outside the cave as fierce battle commenced.

The Moose leader's thick fingers directly grabbed burning wood, sweeping it around, chasing the gathered people outside the cave, the falling countless sparks illuminating the mountain hollow, revealing the true faces within.

These guys were none other than the gray-blue-skinned 'Blue Skin Species', most of them wearing simple leather armor, holding spiked hammers and clubs, some even had tooth necklaces strung around their necks.

"He's hurt, focus fire!" A hurried voice shouted in the darkness, followed by three Blue Skin Species raising their automatic rifles at the Moose leader, pulling the wooden strips stuck on the triggers.

Rounds of gunfire were fired, the rapid sounds echoing in the firelight, a cascade of blood flowers blossoming on the Moose leader's body, despite his tough skin, unable to withstand the direct shots at close range.

"Quick, let's go help!" Sura yelled, then grabbed a musket and rushed out, followed by Guy and Flan.

Tilan glanced outside, pulled Ores back into the bedroom, then quickly picked up the sword box from beneath the bed.

"Ores, stay here, don't let any outsiders come in, understand?" She instructed solemnly.

"Understood, Tilan." The Ice Spirit nodded, she could still perceive the atmosphere and situation clearly, even if she had lost considerable memory, but the foundation as a Songstress remained.

"Wait for me to come back." Tilan drew the sword, finished speaking to Ores, then rushed out.

Outside the cave, chaos reigned, the Moose leader dared the bullets, still swinging the flaming club, sweeping and chasing relentlessly, while the three Blue Skin Species with guns, under their leader's command, continued to spread out, keeping others throwing flames to hinder the Moose, seemingly toying with him.

"Hahahaha, you, injured, weak, I strong!" A particularly fierce Blue Skin stood in the mountain hollow, holding an automatic rifle, occasionally firing, despite not shooting accurately at all, he didn't care.
