Chapter 626 - 626: Intercept and Kill
Chapter 626: Chapter 626: Intercept and Kill
The sea monster was enormous. Even though its size had been reduced through its capture as a pet, it remained colossal. Its tonnage far surpassed that of the hydra.
Although it couldn’t break big ships in West Continent Harbor all at once, it was close to that level of power.
Its scales were smooth, making it nearly impossible for players to stay perched on its back.
However, after merging two black tentacles, not only did Li Yao’s attack power increase, but it also gave him many auxiliary advantages.
Li Yao spent a day figuring out the effects of the tentacles.
Above the water, Li Yao could employ a water-walking technique, and the tentacles increased his swimming speed manifold.
The only complication was that these tentacles lacked consciousness, so controlling their movements required the use of Li Yao’s spiritual power.
Moreover, each tentacle would individually need to be controlled by Li Yao.
While it may be difficult for others, it was easy for Li Yao.
For instance, now, Li Yao manipulated the tentacles to securely attach him to the back of the sea monster.
The swimming speed of the sea monster in the water was definitely faster than that of the hydra, and much more so than regular small boats, even those equipped with arrays.
About an hour later, Li Yao spotted a few boats in the distance.
Under Li Yao’s gaze, a wave overturned one of the boats, spilling its two players into the ocean. Other players in the vicinity were rushing to their aid.
“Catching this pet was indeed worthwhile,” Li Yao revealed a smile. Although he determined their destination, it would have been a tedious task to find these small boats in the vast sea without the sea monster.
The moment Li Yao sighted them, they also noticed him. Their expressions changed instantly.
“Damn, has he lost it? Does he think he is on land?”
“He’s really full of himself.”
“We didn’t successfully complete our mission, but now that Prairie Fire is here, we can make up for that.”
The players on the few boats burst out laughing. They were frustrated for not completing their mission, but did not expect to encounter Li Yao here.
If they were on land, they would fear that they would not be able to deal with Li Yao. But they were at sea now, and even Li Yao’s formidable pets would probably sink to the bottom once summoned.
Knowing their intentions, Li Yao’s smile faded. He leaped above the water and blew a whistle.
Like arrows loosed from a bow, the sea monster and the newly summoned hydra rushed forward. The hydra’s form changed once it entered the water.
Fin-like wings sprouted all over its body, and its three snakeheads mutated bizarrely, adapting to the seawater. This was the hydra’s aquatic form.
Simultaneously, a fiery figure dove from the sky. The fire eagle was not to be outdone. Each creature darted towards a different boat.
“Everyone, scatter immediately!” the Beast Speaker yelled.
Upon seeing him, Li Yao instantly understood who was behind all this, causing the anger within him to surge. Li Yao advanced, his Blue Moon Bow shining like a moonlight.
Following the Beast Speaker’s order, the small boats quickly scattered. Three boats on each side charged towards Li Yao.
Splash…
The sea monster didn’t unleash any abilities but emerged from the water violently, crashing onto a boat under the terrified gaze of the players.
Crack, crack, crack…
The boat disintegrated instantly. Blood tinted the water where it had been. A player surfaced, only to be dragged underwater by a dark form amid a scream. A cloud of blood spread out.
The hydra was not to be outdone. The water around it rapidly froze, capturing two boats and their players, who turned into lifelike ice sculptures. In a flash, the icy surface and the boats exploded.
Ice shards sprayed out, numerous blood-red crystals sinking into the sea. The three-headed hydra devoured these crystals frenzically.
With the disappearance of the ice, both the small boats and the players vanished without a trace.
On the other side, the fire eagle dove, sending a flurry of flaming feathers over two boats. Both boats hosted glaring hydras.
In just a blink, the boat and its players were reduced to ashes.
With a booming sound, the sea monster emerged from the water again, bringing a boat up with it, only to smash it down.
In just a few moments, Li Yao hadn’t even shot an arrow. His surroundings had undergone drastic changes before the boats could even reach him.
All the players were stunned by the brutality unleashed.
While other players were aghast, Li Yao remained unfazed.
Keep in mind, Li Yao was at minimum three to four levels higher than them, overpowering them in levels, gear, and pet quality. This resulted in these players having no ability to fight back.
Beast Speaker had once fought Li Yao soon after the game started.
That battle ignited Li Yao’s fame, which grew exponentially afterward.
The Beast Speaker, being a top player and an exceptional commander, saw that battle as a stain on his honor and had been eager for revenge since.
After reaching level 20, his power underwent a drastic change. A few instances of alleged good luck also endowed him with numerous top-notch items.
He thought his strength might be inferior to Li Yao’s, but at least not by much. Coupled with the coordination of his team, he believed they could regain their footing.
He planned this operation himself. Although the initial operation was successful, Starfire’s fleet was not at the harbor. But he didn’t care, and planned a second strike.
When he saw Li Yao just a moment ago, his blood boiled with excitement. The moment for revenge had finally arrived. Particularly considering they had a numerical advantage and were at sea, they could definitely ambush and kill Li Yao.
However, reality dealt him a blow again. Li Yao hadn’t even attacked, yet six of their boats were destroyed, and none of his teammates survived.
“Charge, kill Prairie Fire, and his pets will disappear,” the Beast Speaker quickly judged.
To go head-to-head with Li Yao’s pets would be impossible. They didn’t have the range to fight the sea monster and the hydra, not to mention the fire eagle, which was too fast. Even if they weren’t on a boat, they wouldn’t stand a chance against the fire eagle on land.
“So it’s you, the failed underling. You thought changing your appearance would fool me. How laughable,” Li Yao said, loosing an arrow.
An obsidian arrow, like a streak of light, rushed towards the lead player.
A Shield Warrior was on the foremost boat. Facing Li Yao’s arrow, he promptly raised his shield.
Shield Warriors were considered the perfect counters to Hunters. Despite facing Li Yao, he was not scared in the slightest…
