Moonlight Flame

Chapter 7: Echoes of Power

The arena was drowned in silence. Ryn's body lay crumpled in the corner of the ring, his aura shattered, unconscious. The crowd, moments ago roaring with cheers and excitement, now stood frozen, their faces etched with shock and fear. The guild masters, scattered across the audience, exchanged knowing glances, their expressions betraying hidden thoughts. Among them, Lyra's trembling hands covered her mouth as tears streamed down her face. Calyon, watching intently, muttered under his breath, "This isn't the right time," his words heavy with a mix of sorrow and understanding.

In the ring, Malvos approached the fallen Ryn, his footsteps echoing ominously. He knelt beside the unconscious boy, his expression a twisted combination of amusement and anger. With a cold, mocking smile, he leaned in close and spoke, "Hey, brat. I don't know if you can hear me or not, but listen closely. Today is your lucky day. I could've killed you, but I've been ordered to enjoy myself—not to end lives."

Straightening up, Malvos turned to leave the arena. The crowd parted like waves before him, their fear palpable. Just as he reached the edge of the ring, a faint voice stopped him in his tracks. "Hey... wait..."

The words came from Ryn, his voice weak and trembling. Against all odds, he managed to lift his head slightly, his eyes half-open but burning with defiance. "Hey... wait... don't think this is the end."

Malvos turned back, an eyebrow raised in mild surprise. "Oh, so you can still speak, brat? Impressive," he said, his voice laced with condescension. He walked back towards Ryn, standing over him like a towering shadow. "Don't fool yourself into thinking you're powerful just because you defeated some low-rankers. This tournament doesn't make you strong. There are levels of power in this world you can't even begin to imagine."

He paused, his voice dropping into a sinister tone. "In the world of true battles, kid, no one is human. They're beasts. And you? You're just a cub playing in the sand."

Malvos's words sent a chill through the arena. The audience, the guild masters, and even the spectators watching from across Vyranthia fell into stunned silence. Yet among the guild masters, subtle smiles began to form. Their experienced eyes recognized something extraordinary unfolding before them.

Despite the weight of Malvos's words, Ryn's lips curved into a faint smile. Struggling to stay conscious, he replied, "Oh, is that so? Good to know. Just wait, Malvos. This is only the beginning... for me and for this world. They'll witness my strength."

With those final words, Ryn's head fell back, his eyes closing, but the determined smile lingered on his face. Malvos chuckled, shaking his head. "We'll see, kid. We'll see just how much you can grow," he said, his laughter echoing through the arena as he turned and walked away, leaving the tournament grounds.

The aftermath of the battle left the arena in a frenzy. News of Ryn's powers, his audacious confidence, and his crushing defeat spread like wildfire across Vyranthia. The guild masters departed one by one, their thoughts hidden behind inscrutable expressions. As Guild Three's master exited, he paused and said, "This kid is interesting... I can't wait to see what he does next."

Back in Lunaford Village, Lyra sat by a window, her tears reflecting the moonlight. She clutched a small keepsake from Ryn, murmuring to herself, "Stupid idiot. When will you grow up?" Despite her words, a faint smile crossed her lips, pride shining through her worry.

Later that night, in the empty arena, Ryn stirred. His body ached, and his head throbbed, but he forced himself to sit up. Looking around, he found himself alone. The silence was deafening. He muttered to himself, "Time to get moving... there's work to be done."

Ryn left Harena Sand under the cover of darkness, his mind racing with thoughts. Memories of his training with Calyon surfaced, particularly a moment when his master had handed him a mysterious book. "This book," Calyon had said, "holds secrets about magic, powerful creatures, and the deeper truths of this world. Beyond the spiritual elements of wind, ice, and fire, there are forces greater than anything you've ever imagined. Mastering them will be key to your growth."

Now, in the present, Ryn clenched his fists. "Let's go hunting," he said to himself, a determined grin spreading across his face.

Far away, in a realm shrouded in mist and mystery, a figure sat by a grand window, the moonlight casting a soft glow over their face. They smiled, watching the events unfold from afar. Their identity remained a mystery, but their presence hinted at something greater, something that would soon intertwine with Ryn's destiny.

And so, the journey continued, the world of Vyranthia brimming with anticipation for what was yet to come.
