Morgan, You’re Not Acting Right!

Chapter 162: Melusine, Have You Heard of Parallel Worlds?

This wasn't a matter of cowardice.

This was about not courting death.

If Lot dared to say the words "acknowledge me as your father," he could swear that no matter how much Melusine currently approved of him, she would immediately resort to her sword to teach him a harsh lesson.

Who among the six clans of Fairy Britain dares to act like an elder in front of me!?

Never mind that Lot currently wielded Joyeuse and the Kavacha and Kundala. If he were to fight Melusine in earnest, the outcome would be nothing but defeat there was no second possibility.

Best to behave and focus on coaxing her to our side first.

With that thought in mind, Lot and Morgan put on an act, pretending to admire the sunset with Melusine until it completely vanished. Then Morgan spoke:

"Alright, let's continue searching for that Earth Clan fairy."

"Mm."

Everyone nodded.

Treading along the muddy path, the group arrived at a wooden house. As they reached the entrance, the fairy Leah introduced it to Lot:

"This is the most renowned Master Kaa in our village. Let me tell you, Master Kaa trained under the Earth Clan's chieftain himself. Though his skills might be slightly inferior to the chieftain's, the gap isn't large at all."

Hearing Leah's words, Lot and Morgan's eyebrows shot up in delight, their expressions lighting up like Brezhnev spotting a new medal or Genghis Khan stumbling upon Aragaki Yui.

Perfect. Originally, we just wanted to find an ordinary Earth Clan fairy and then figure out a way to contact their chieftain. But now, we've hit the jackpot straight to the upper echelons!

This'll make things much easier.

As the two of them pondered this, a gruff voice boomed from inside the house:

"What do you mean 'slightly inferior'?! My skills are every bit as good as his! Let me see which clueless little fairy dares slander me like this! I'll teach them a lesson with my hammer "

Lot and Morgan watched as a dwarf-like fairy, resembling a burly uncle, stormed out with a massive hammer in hand, looking ready to smash someone.

However, the moment he stepped outside and saw Melusine standing at the front, his imposing aura instantly deflated.

Though he wasn't from the Wind Clan, Melusine's reputation was well-known among all fairies and not as a notorious figure like Baobhan Sith, but as a symbol of overwhelming strength.

The fairy named Kaa knew full well that he stood no chance against her.

We Earth Clan fairies may be bold, but we're not stupid. Something this obviously suicidal? Absolutely not.

Better to just ask what they're here for and play it safe.

"...So, what brings you here?" he grumbled, his tone subdued.

Seeing his reaction, Lot and Morgan found it utterly comical.

The contrast was especially hilarious Kaa was built like a barrel, his arms thicker than Melusine's waist. The hammer he carried, used for forging, had to weigh at least a hundred pounds. Swinging it around would've been an intimidating sight.

And yet, he was cowed by Melusine's mere presence.

Not wanting to push his fear further, Lot and Morgan adopted gentle tones.

"Don't worry, we're just here to commission a house. Ideally, we'd like it completed today so we can move in."

Building an entire house in a single day sounded absurd, but for fairies, it wasn't entirely impossible.

"Then why did you bring Lady Melusine along?" Kaa asked, glancing nervously at her.

I'll do my best work, I swear! Just… please don't keep her here. My heart can't take it.

"I'll be staying there too," Melusine stated matter-of-factly.

"WHAT?!"

The moment those words left her mouth, Kaa's defiance evaporated.

"Wait here! I'll get it done right away!"

Originally, he had planned to assert his status and skill by making these unfamiliar fairies wait. But now?

Melusine is moving in?!

This isn't just some small request this is an emergency!

Priorities shifted. Work starts NOW.

"Give me two or three hours! I'll have a house ready! In the meantime, rest inside my place. You little fairy go fetch some juice for our guests!"

Kaa scrambled into action, barking orders at Leah before hurrying off.

Watching his frantic response, Lot and the others couldn't help but chuckle.

"Seems we're benefiting from your reputation," Morgan remarked to Melusine.

"It's nothing," Melusine replied casually.

"Let's head inside and rest for now," Lot suggested.

"I'll go get that juice for you," Leah said, stepping back.

She could tell Melusine and the others had matters to discuss. Best not to intrude.

"Mm."

No one objected.

Once Leah left, Melusine turned to Lot.

"I get the feeling… you two aren't ordinary fairies."

"Why do you say that?" Morgan countered.

"If not fairies, then what do you think we are?"

"I can't tell. Truly, I can't."

Melusine shook her head.

Good. If even you can't see through us, then Merlin wouldn't stand a chance either.

Lot and Morgan shared the same thought.

With Lot's abilities, they could avoid most forms of detection.

Morgan pressed further. "So, what do you plan to do about it?"

"Nothing."

Melusine's answer was blunt.

"I can sense no malice from you."

This wasn't deduction just pure instinct.

"Exactly! We mean you no harm whatsoever!"

Morgan wholeheartedly agreed.

Everything we do is for your sake.

Look at you living in Fairy Britain with nothing, wearing that short dress even as winter approaches. It barely keeps you warm, let alone decent!

Come to Camelot, and you'll have everything. I'll dress you in new outfits every day if you want. Unlike my daughter, whose clothes take twice the fabric…

"Somehow, I feel like you're thinking something rude about me," Melusine said flatly.

"Absolutely not!"

Morgan quickly schooled her expression, realizing she'd been too transparent.

"Hmm."

Melusine didn't press further.

At this point, Lot spoke up.

"By the way, why are you here? Did you come to join the front lines against Camelot's forces?"

Melusine's strength was no joke. If she entered the battlefield especially if she clashed with Artoria on the flank the latter would be in serious danger. Without Avalon, Artoria's chances of victory were slim.

"No. I'm not participating in the war for now," Melusine replied.

"I need to speak with Queen Morgan of Camelot about something."

"You want to speak with Morgan?!"

Morgan perked up instantly.

What could you possibly want with me?!

Don't tell me you're here to assassinate me too!

First Baobhan Sith, and now you, the Fairy Knight Lancelot?

"No, not like that," Melusine corrected.

"Then what is it?"

Even if Melusine hadn't recognized her yet, there was still that Morgan in Fairy Britain. If this involved something troublesome, it could spell complications.

"I need to ask her a question."

Melusine studied Morgan.

"What question?"

Morgan's heart skipped a beat.

What do I know about you? Everything I've learned came from that husband of hers! If you ask something specific, I might not have the answers!

Beside her, Lot was equally curious.

Since when does my wife know things about Melusine?

"Hm?" Melusine tilted her head, as if puzzled by Morgan's eagerness. Still, she answered:

"On my way here, I met a human knight. I felt… some kind of connection to him. He told me that Morgan or Merlin could explain it."

"Was that knight… Lancelot?!"

Lot blurted out before he could stop himself.

"Yes."

Melusine nodded.

Then, with an expectant look, she asked:

"Do you know what my relationship with him is?"

[How should I answer this?]

Lot fell into deep thought.

[She's the Lostbelt version of Lancelot, fused with his Spirit Origin. Meanwhile, Lancelot is her counterpart in Proper Human History. How do I explain this in a way that benefits Morgan and me?]

After a moment, he settled on the perfect response.

"Miss Melusine… have you heard of parallel worlds?"
