Mountain, I Bought It – Living in Another World Isn’t Bad Either

Chapter 19

Chapter 19. The Tablet Arrived

Right after summer break ended, I informed the company of my resignation. I thought it wouldn’t be a big deal since I gave them over a month’s notice, but it wasn’t that simple.

As usual, my senior colleague was refusing to come to work, and the troublemaker junior was still around. Since I was the only one who had been covering for them, my boss probably didn’t want me to leave.

But! I had already collapsed once because of this, and I told them I couldn’t take it anymore. Somehow, I managed to push through with quitting.

At the same time, I blocked my ex on L〇NE. His messages had finally become too annoying. I think I’m amazing for putting up with him for this long.

I also set my family’s calls to go straight to voicemail. During my sister-in-law’s summer break, they kept calling without considering my situation, and I was completely fed up.

While I was sorting out my connections here, a package arrived from the Inari-sama campground.

“…It’s a tablet.”

Along with it came two types of documents: a contract and an invoice.

The contract was about approving my relocation to the other world and detailing the management fees. 230,000 yen per month—almost the same as my current salary (does the god just know?). This would barely cover my living expenses. In fact, I started to worry if it was even okay to receive this much just for managing the mountain. Still, I filled in the bank account details, wrote my name, and stamped it.

The invoice had the 900,000 yen that Inari-sama had mentioned. The bank account details were clearly written, and the account name was under the campground.

—Inari-sama, even though you’re a god, you’re blending right in with humans, huh.

For a moment, I felt a distant gaze.

Finally, the grand finale. I reached for the tablet. At first glance, it looked like any ordinary tablet you’d find at an electronics store, but the back design… had a fox character on it.

…I decided to pretend I didn’t see that and looked for the charging adapter, but it was nowhere to be found. There wasn’t even a charging port. How am I supposed to charge this thing?

—Maybe it’ll charge automatically once I’m in the other world?

I couldn’t help but feel like I was losing touch with common sense.

“Well, for now, let’s just try turning it on.”

I pressed the button on the side of the tablet, and it immediately booted up, displaying the same two icons I had seen before. For some reason, a mail-like icon was blinking on the status bar.

“Huh? I thought it couldn’t connect to the internet?”

I tapped the icon, and what looked like a mail app opened. There was only one message, so I opened it.

“What? ‘You can use the Storage App’?”

Reading the explanation, it seemed like I had accumulated some points, and I could use them to download this so-called ‘Storage App.’

“Oh, that’s convenient. Let’s download it… Wait, it’s not connected!”

An error message popped up. Guess I can’t use it unless I’m in the other world.

“Ugh, fine.”

I had hoped it might help with the moving process, but I was being too optimistic. Maybe it’s better to declutter and go there light anyway.

I looked around my room, packed with stuff, and felt a wave of exhaustion.
