Chapter 2
Chapter 2. Struggling Through a Reckless Camping Trip (1)
The campsite I chose for my first solo camping trip was one deep in the mountains that I’d had my eye on for a while. Exhausted from the long drive, I finally made it to the designated site by car.
The area was somewhat cleared, but being in the mountains, weeds were growing everywhere. Maybe it was too remote, so there weren’t many visitors.
The sun was already up, and the mist had cleared.
“I’m here.”
I muttered to myself, leaning against the steering wheel.
“…I’ll set up the tent first, then sleep.”
If I slept in the car now, I’d probably wake up in the evening.
After getting out of the car, I had to unload the luggage from the back seat. First, I needed to set up the tent so I’d have a place to put everything.
The secondhand two-person tent I bought was surprisingly heavy. My ex-boyfriend had bought it at a flea market app and left it in my room. If he were the one carrying and setting it up, it wouldn’t have been a problem, but honestly, it was too heavy for me.
——But now, I had no choice but to use it for camping!
I found a relatively flat spot and placed the tent bag there. I tried to muster the energy to set it up, but… it was heavy! And what goes where? Wait, how do I even set it up?
I frantically searched for the manual, but it was so old that the manual wasn’t even included!
“Why did he buy this?! My room isn’t a dump for oversized junk!”
After struggling for 30 minutes, I was sweating despite the cold.
“Ah, I’m exhausted…”
I lay down inside the tent I’d finally set up, only to bump the back of my head against something hard.
“Ow… I can’t sleep directly on the ground.”
I hurriedly grabbed the sleeping bag, a large blanket, and a foldable leisure mat from the car, laid them out inside the tent, and tried again.
“Ooh, not bad.”
The uneven ground was no longer noticeable. Plus, this would probably help with the cold from the ground.
“Alright, now I just need to unload the rest of the luggage… and eat breakfast.”
I ignored the fact that it was practically brunch time. I was too hungry to care.
First, I unloaded the cooler box. It contained the things I’d bought at the convenience store on the way.
“Ah, here it is… First, the rice balls.”
The rice balls were cold and a bit hard. I wanted to boil some water and make tea, but filling my stomach came first.
“Ah, I should’ve bought some warm tea from the vending machine next to the management cabin.”
Grumbling to myself, I bit into the rice ball. The three rice balls I’d bought disappeared into my stomach in no time.
About half of the luggage was still in the car, but with my stomach somewhat satisfied, I started feeling sleepy.
“For now, I’ll sleep.”
I crawled into the sleeping bag inside the tent and quickly lost consciousness.
