Even though Mountain Foundation is lagging behind, it has followed Mountain Karma in leveling up. A third phantom has appeared in his mind to help him understand things, and his power increases by four times now, not three anymore.
It was because he had an extra phantom to put to work that he was able to master all of his wood spells and the ten other normal spells that he acquired.
He even had time to learn lightning manipulation techniques and spells. It was partly to have more offensive methods to use the lightning mark, which he sacrificed 70 years of his life span for.
He learned the lightning spells to also be able to control lightning better and inscribe lightning runes easier in the process of forging armaments. So their mastery is important to what he is currently doing.
He said to himself, "I hope all of the time I spent on this was worth it."
He raised his head from the workbench, revealing the thick glasses he was wearing to improve his eyesight.
His eyesight isn't poor, as his eyes are still in impeccable condition. Unfortunately, his natural eyesight is not enough to meet the requirements of quality that he wants to achieve.
He needs the divine sense of the third mortal coil to make the tens of thousands of tiny runes that he needs to make the top-grade divine lightning armament. He doesn't have that, so he went with the next best thing.
Now that his work has been finished, he stood back to look at what he had done. He stood back to relish the fruit of his labors.
The base made of a wolf carcass looks like its insides have been painted into a beautiful tapestry. There were different shapes and structures, all with the reddish-brown color of copper.
The shapes themselves are made of tiny runes. Some of the shapes are circles while others are squares. Some of them even have irregular shapes.
On top of the runes are certain materials joined to the base with the runes. These materials have been flattened, and even though they all have different colors, this variation only adds beauty to the armament.
The more Arthur looked at it, the prouder he became. He said, "This looks like those integrated board circuits that I saw occasionally. Unfortunately, I don't know how those work."
He has seen integrated circuit boards in exposed electronics a few times in his past life. But even though he doesn't know how those work, what he saw of their form and structure still influenced how he draws formations.
He likes to divide the arrays into various parts based on their functions. Then he separates those parts into various compartments. Those compartments are what the shapes on the armament are.
After looking at his work proudly for a whole 30 seconds, he decided to try it and see how well it would work.
This time, he didn't wear the whole armament. He had dedicated a whole compartment to be the power source so he could put his hand in that section to power on the whole armament.
He also put tiny ports for power supply all over the armament to create redundancies and make the armament attach to his body better. But for the purpose of testing, the sole compartment for the input of energy will be enough to make contact with.
He placed his hand onto a compartment that was in the shape of a circle. Nothing happened until he let his mind connect to the core of the armament and activate it.
The core of the armament was in the shape of a five-pointed star. It sensed the input of his mental commands and used the energy within its battery to initiate a body symbiosis.
Tiny brown threads extended from the circle under Arthur's palm and dug into his hand. This made him hiss, but he didn't succumb to the reflex to pull his hand away.
He watched attentively as his life energy and internal energy were pulled away. He followed their path from the circle to the surrounding compartments responsible for energy transformation.
As the energy flowed through the armament, every part of it began to light up. At first it was a reddish glow. But it quickly turned blue.
The blue light became bright, signifying the production of lightning. So he had to use his mind to control this part.
The more he saw of the armament, the more impressed he became with it.
He said, "Such efficiency? Who made this armament? That person must be a genius."
He sighed and said, "I wish I were them."
While he was stroking his ego, the blue light of the armament was increasing in brightness. To be specific, only one part was glowing brighter than the others.
When he saw this, he jerked his hand away while urging the armament to shut down with his mind.
He was even shouting at it, "Shut down. Shut down."
Be it mental or verbal commands, the armament didn't listen to him. Even without energy input from him, it was still glowing brighter.
Arthur had to step back for fear of an explosion. It was good thinking on his part because the armament exploded as soon as he stepped back.
