Chapter 395: Conditions To Transform Potential Into Power.
In the foundation establishment stage, the number of life seeds in the body increases from 1 to 1,024. Each one will contain 1,000 units of energy, so a cultivator at the peak of the third mortal coil will have to control energy that it is worth 1,024,000 units.
Not only must they control this vast amount of energy, they also have to make sure that their bodies aren't torn apart by the energy or forced to explode.
Even if one can control all of the life seeds at once, one has to be able to use all of them to execute the same task at the same time. Only in this way will the advantage of quantity become fully realized.
To him, he understands this in terms of core count in the CPU of his past life and how it affects their computing performance. Each life seed can be likened to one physical computing thread in a computer CPU.
It is true that the more cores a CPU has, the better it will be at multitasking, but there are certain tasks and programs that rely more on single-core performance, so the extra cores will be wasted on them.
This is the way he envisions the problem of large quantities of life seeds and the effective utilization of them for power. Elder Storm Hawk's explanation also helped him a lot in understanding it.
She also explained the solution to the problem. She had said, "There are two requirements to convert the number of life seeds into power. The first requirement is the power of your cultivation technique."
"Your cultivation technique has to be sophisticated enough to mobilize all of the life seeds at once, or the ones you can't control will sit there doing nothing."
"A poor-quality cultivation technique will lead to making some of your life seeds a waste of space in terms of power output. But they will still contain energy that you can use in a pinch, so they are not a complete waste of space."
"But only a high quality cultivation technique is capable of mobilizing so much energy all at once in order to execute a single task. Without such a cultivation technique, it is impossible for potential to be converted into power."
"The second requirement is converting your body into a proper host that can channel all the power of the life seeds without breaking apart or causing conflicts between the life seeds. This is why you must comprehend the Element Host Technique."
"Only when the body and mind are in complete harmony with your energy will you be able to convert your life seeds into power. If you don't do this, then you will only have potential, but no power."
"Think of it as converting potential energy into kinetic energy. Having more life seeds gives you potential energy, but you need your body and your mind to get the life seeds moving and output kinetic energy."
As Arthur thought of their conversation, her words rang throughout his mind. He could remember the conversation vividly, so her voice was very clear. Her voice was so clear that it seemed that he could still hear her now.
He even heard that gloomy voice again saying, "Hello, everyone. Gather around."
The voice was too clear to be a figment of his imagination. It made Arthur frown and think to himself, "That doesn't sound right. It is too loud and close."
Then he saw everyone on the airship turn in the same direction. They were looking at something in the air.
He turned to see what they were staring at and saw Elder Storm Hawk standing in the air. She was looking down at everyone with her cold, stern face.
Apparently, the clear voice he heard earlier came from her, not his memory of her. It was why the voice seemed to have come from a source close to him and was louder than his thoughts.
After waiting for everyone to turn to her, she finally decided to continue speaking. "There are 1,000 of you here meant to participate in the intersect competition. You will be able to do that as usual without any interference."
"The 100 inner sect disciples will not join you in harvesting the secret realm. They are here to challenge an inheritance ruin. So you can ignore their presence."
"But if you think you have what it takes, you can also challenge the inheritance ruin. No one will stop you, but no one will protect you if you encounter danger either."
"I am Storm Hawk and will be your guardian together with two other elders. We will leave in five minutes. That is all. You may disperse."
She ignored everyone and flew through the air over to Arthur's position. She looked at him all over, inspecting him up close.
She also wanted to inspect him with her divine sense, but this wasn't one of their class sessions, so she didn't want to be rude to him.
After inspecting him for a while, her eyes were drawn to the blue fur coat that was attached to his skin, and she said, "It seems you succeeded in constructing your rank 3 armament."
Arthur said smugly, "I told you I would be able to forge it."
She tilted her head in recollection and said, "I don't remember doubting that. My doubts were that you would be able to wear and use it without collapsing."
Arthur nodded in agreement and said, "I told you that too. It seems I am two for two."
She finally smiled, but her smile was an evil smile. She said as she smiled evilly, "You are two for two. From the looks of things, I have completed my duty to teach you and supervise your growth, so I can now put you in harm's way. You have also become strong enough to be put in harm's way, so you can do that thing that I asked you to do."
Arthur chuckled and said, "If you keep speaking that way, you will scare me off."
