Chapter 441: Insolence And Death.
The Milton family thought they were smart and scheming enough. But they didn't know that all they were doing was scheming themselves into a trap. All they did was to make sure that the fisherman will be able to eat well today.
The four of them were in a good mood. They chatted as they raided the Milton family. They were working as fast as possible, but it still took more than an hour to clear everything of value in the immediate surroundings up.
The Milton family still had assets in the various parts of the Five Veins region, so they hadn't taken everything that the Milton family possessed. Not to mention the investments that the Milton family had made in terms of people, businesses, lands, and buildings around their territory.
Just as they promised, they didn't kill everyone in the Milton family. They killed some people that they encountered, but they didn't go out of their way to kill everyone.
When Arthur asked if it was a good idea to leave behind witnesses and enemies, they told him not to worry about it because they couldn't kill everyone and because there was nothing to fear from people that weren't in the Blood Skull sect.
After raiding the Milton family, they killed the supreme elder and began their journey back to the sect. They were using a small flying boat, which was at rank 3, so it was fast.
Unfortunately, they didn't go far before they were intercepted. The rank 3 boat suddenly froze in the air. This caused everyone on it to stumble forward and smash face-first into the energy shield.
Someone was blocking their way. They didn't see the person that caused all of these but they sensed a sharp aura that caused their skin to tingle and split as if blades were being scraped over them.
They were already feeling some discomfort from the aura of the enemy, so they didn't dare look at the enemy when the enemy appeared.
Even if they had looked, all they would have seen was a bright light. Then their eyes would have been injured from looking at the person.
Specifically, their eyes would have been split open. So it wasn't worth it to take a look.
The person who came roared in anger, "What insolence! You shall pay for it with your life."
Even as they spoke, there was a flash of light and the sound of a sword being drawn. The attack hadn't come yet, but Arthur's neck was already bleeding.
The energy shield artifact that Elder Storm Hawk gave him didn't seem to have noticed any attack, so it didn't activate. His neck was slowly and surely being separated from his neck, and there was nothing he could do about it.
Arthur felt an unprecedented threat. He knew right there and then, even before the attack came, that he wasn't going to survive it. The sense of death suffocated and overwhelmed him right from his toes to his scalp.
But before the attack came, another figure appeared and stood between them and the enemy. This figure was bright too.
Even though the person who just arrived was small in size, they managed to block the heavy and sharp aura for the four of them with just their own existence and presence.
The feeling of death left Arthur's body immediately. This caused him to slump to the floor of the boat and gasp for breath as if he had been drowning.
The other three were feeling better. They took control of the boat and steered it far away from the two figures. They went the opposite direction as fast as possible before they plotted another course towards the Blood Skull sect.
Arthur touched his bleeding neck and was shocked to realize that he hadn't been imagining a beheading. The Beheading had been happening even though his energy shield artifact was intact.
He asked in shock, "What was that?"
Elder Blood Spider replied solemnly, "A golden core elder of the Sword Way sect. It is also a powerful one."
His partner, the Battle Furnace, said, "He was much stronger than we expected. Fortunately, we had a backup."
Arthur asked, "What backup?"
The three of them replied at the same time, "Our senior brother."
Just as they spoke, they saw a flash of lightning. Then they heard the rumbling of thunder.
The thunder was accompanied by a strong wind that shook the boat and caused it to sway. Even the energy shield began to flicker as it resisted the impact of the violent energy in the wind.
Arthur stood up to look at the direction of the disturbance with the other three. But he couldn't see much. All he saw were flashes of light as a golden cloud formed of sharp energy blades smashed into another golden cloud formed of golden lightning.
The sight of the golden lightning caused his scalp to tingle, but the sight of the golden blades caused his neck to ache as if something was about to cut it.
The injury on his neck had healed thanks to the exuberant vitality from his wood-based vitality. But he still felt as if a phantom blade had been placed against his neck.
The two golden clouds were smashing into each other and causing the world to riot. But he became tired of seeing only that over and over again.
He asked them, "Are golden core cultivators golden clouds?"
His question eased the atmosphere and made the other three chuckle.
Elder Blood Spider Shook his head and said, "What you're seeing is the runaway mana spilling out of them. They are not golden clouds."
He asked, "What do you see then?"
It was Elder Battle Furnace who replied. His eyes were glowing brightly as he said, "Two vague humanoid figures clashing again and again. Their power is so great that both the sky and earth quake in their presence."
His voice was tinged with a bit of yearning and he looked as if he wanted to join the fight.
