The world, which had just begun to forget about the attack in Afghanistan, was once again thrown into a storm of speculation, and at its center, as always, was Stark Industries. The headlines were a chaotic symphony of tragedy and wonder.

"Stark Industries Executive Obadiah Stane Dead; Internal Sources Allege Attempted Coup!" "Ten Rings Attack on Stark Convoy an Inside Job Hired by Stane!" "Freeway Mayhem: Eyewitnesses Report Battle Between Two Giant Robots!" "Angel or Alien? Exclusive Photos of a Winged Figure Over New York Skyline!"

For a week, every news outlet worked overtime, trying to piece together the unbelievable story. And then, at the official request of the government, Tony Stark called a press conference.

Aidan watched it on the television in his living room, calmly eating potato chips, a spectator to the chaos he had helped orchestrate. On screen, Tony looked uncomfortable, holding a stack of prepared notecards.

"...It's clear that I am not a hero," Tony began, reciting the official story. "I have numerous character flaws and have caused a great deal of trouble in my time..."

From the side of the stage, Colonel Rhodey prompted him, "Just read the cards as written."

Tony looked down at the sanitized, government-approved alibi. He looked up at the sea of flashing cameras. And then his mind flashed to the ruins of Gulmira. To Yinsen's tears. To Aidan's cold, judgmental voice on the phone. To the Stark Industries logo on the bomb that had nearly killed him. The lie felt like poison in his mouth.

He threw the cards down. "The truth is..." He locked eyes with the camera, and for a long moment, he was silent. Then, with a voice full of a newfound, terrible certainty, he said, "I am Iron Man."

The room erupted. Reporters shot to their feet, shouting, their cameras flashing like a violent lightning storm.

Aidan, sitting on his sofa in Queens, allowed himself a small, wry smile. So, he chose that path. It was a bold move, but it changed things. In that single moment of ego and defiance, Tony had branded himself and his entire company. Aidan's original plan—to join Stark Industries and build his medical division from within—was now untenable. He couldn't tie his peaceful, global medical company to the volatile, military-entangled brand of Iron Man. He had to go it alone.

A few days later, Aidan stood waiting at the arrivals gate at JFK Airport. He felt his phone vibrate.

"Tony," he answered, his tone loose and casual. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"

"I think, given our recent history, it would be kinder if you added 'Mister' to my name," Tony said, his voice laced with a strained patience.

"No, I don't think I will."

Tony sighed, a sound of pure exasperation. "Look, Aidan, don't be like this. I know you're still angry with me. It was my fault. But he was my uncle, my partner…"

"Then tell that to Yinsen," Aidan cut him off coolly. "He probably doesn't want to see you right now, but as it happens, he's at this airport. His flight from Germany just landed. You've got about ten minutes until he walks through that gate."

He knew that with Tony's arrogant character, the only way to ensure a real conversation was to force it.

"Ten minutes? Are you crazy? I can't get there in ten minutes!" Tony yelled.

"I could probably stall him for five," Aidan offered honestly.

"No, don't even think about it, I'll never make it."

"Okay," Aidan said cheerfully. "Then I won't stall him."

"No, no, no, you are stalling him!" Tony panicked. "Wait for me!"

"Goodbye, Tony. There are some very beautiful flight attendants walking by," Aidan said, his mood bright, before hanging up.

This kid, Tony thought, staring at his dead phone. Is he going to be the death of me? He sighed, sprinted to his garage, and jumped into the nearest supercar, roaring down the driveway toward the airport.

Ten minutes later, Yinsen walked out of the gate, looking weary but resolute. He saw Aidan wave and smiled, his dull mood lifting considerably.

"Aidan! Shouldn't you be in school?" Yinsen asked as they walked side-by-side.

"I've taken an extended leave of absence. Things have been… busy," Aidan said with a shrug. "But now that you're here, my primary business can begin. I'm leaving the establishment of the company to you. I'll forward you the contacts for my partners."

Yinsen looked puzzled. "Partners? Aren't you joining Stark Industries?"

"That was the original plan," Aidan explained. "But Tony's relationship with the military is too complicated. And after his announcement, he's now a political entity. Baymax Medical cannot be tied to that. We can't be seen as an arm of the United States. Our mission is global." He smiled. "We build our own empire. Do what we want."

Yinsen was silent for a moment. "...Actually, you don't need to do this for me. Joining Stark would be the easiest and quickest path for you."

"And you're afraid I'll get too tired?" Aidan laughed. "Don't worry. I'll be developing a new AI to help you manage the company's internal operations. You'll only need to handle the product hand-offs and negotiations."

"Artificial intelligence is not so easy to develop," Yinsen shook his head.

"The things you've seen me use shouldn't be easy to develop either," Aidan said with unshakeable confidence.

Before Yinsen could retort, the screech of tires interrupted them. A fiery red Bugatti Veyron pulled up to the curb. The driver's side window purred down, revealing Tony Stark in a pair of designer sunglasses.

"Alright, let's go, get in," Tony said. "I assume you two haven't eaten. A cup of coffee is in order."

"I'd rather go to a teahouse," Aidan said suddenly.

Tony stared at him, speechless. "Please. There are like, three real teahouses in this city. Where am I supposed to find one?"

Aidan didn't press the issue. He gestured for Yinsen to get in the car. Yinsen gave Tony a nod. "I didn't expect you to come," he said, before getting into the passenger seat.

Aidan walked over to the driver's side, then realized the problem. He looked at the two-seater supercar. "Where do I sit?"

Tony put his sunglasses back on. "Bye," he said, a vengeful smirk on his face. He controlled the door to close, and with a roar of the engine, sped away, leaving Aidan standing blankly on the curb.

"Tsk. So petty," Aidan muttered. A moment later, a sleek black Rolls-Royce pulled up. Happy Hogan leaned over from the driver's seat.

"Looks like you didn't catch up with the boss this time," Aidan teased, getting into the back seat.

"No," Happy retorted, glancing at him in the rearview mirror. "It's just that I didn't press the accelerator all the way down." He pulled smoothly into traffic. "And for the record, this car is the boss's exclusive. No one's ever ridden back here except Ms. Potts." He paused. "So, you're a high school student?"

"Yes. Eleventh grade."

"Eleventh grade? How old are you?"

"Twelve."

Happy frowned. "Shouldn't a twelve-year-old be in, like, ninth grade?"

"My name is Aidan Parker," Aidan said, surprised. "You don't know who I am?"

"Oh, I know your name," Happy replied. "But what's the problem?"

Aidan almost choked. "You… you haven't read any of the news?"

"What's to read?" Happy said flatly. "It's all about the boss, and that's Ms. Potts' business. I'm only responsible for the boss's safety."

Aidan gave up. "Alright, then. You've been left so far behind by your boss. How are you supposed to protect him?"

This time, Happy didn't speak. He just pressed the accelerator more deeply. Soon, he pulled up in front of a quiet, elegant cafe with a retro, Western European style. Aidan got out, and Happy went to find parking. He walked inside, the gentle melody of a piano washing over him.

"Can I help you, sir?" a waiter asked politely.

"I'm looking for Tony Stark."

"They're upstairs, sir. Please, come with me."
