Chapter 32: Chapter 32: This is Youth!
Yuigahama Yui couldn't help but smile happily.
Seeing her friend being "taken away," Miura Yumiko immediately stood up, looking annoyed.
"Hey! We weren't done talking!"
Ren Asakura smirked.
"Oh, it's on. It's on. This blonde chick probably has no idea how terrifying the sharp-tongued Yukinoshita is."
Yukinoshita Yukino's eyes were full of disdain and indifference.
"Talk? You call that a conversation? From my perspective, all you were doing was forcing your opinion onto someone else."
Miura Yumiko's mouth twitched slightly.
"Hah?"
Yukinoshita Yukino continued her assault, a mocking smile appearing on her lips.
"Didn't notice? My apologies. I'm not familiar with your ecosystem, so I accidentally mistook it for a primate's territorial display. Maybe you enjoy playing the role of a jungle queen, puffing yourself up to intimidate others, but please keep it within your own domain—just like your makeup. It'll start peeling off soon enough."
Miura Yumiko had never been talked back to like this before. Furious, she snapped back.
"What the hell are you saying? You're making no sense!"
As expected of a classic nice guy, Hayama Hayato stepped in to mediate.
"Alright, alright, let's leave it at that, Yukinoshita-san."
Ren Asakura smirked—
Now that Hayama had stepped in, this battle was officially over.
"I declare Yukinoshita Yukino the winner."
And so, the clash ended in Miura Yumiko's defeat.
Yukinoshita Yukino glanced at Yuigahama Yui and spoke softly.
"I'm leaving first."
Yuigahama Yui immediately understood what she meant and nodded.
"Mm! I'll be right behind you!"
Then, she turned back toward Miura Yumiko, as if she had something to say.
Sensing the tense atmosphere, the other students quietly left the classroom.
Ren Asakura stretched.
"Alright, show's over. Time for us to head out too."
Katou Megumi and Ren Asakura stood up, ready to leave.
Ren Asakura turned to Hikigaya Hachiman.
"Hey, Hachiman, come hang out with us."
With his awkward personality, staying in this kind of environment would probably suffocate him.
...
...
At the door.
Ren Asakura, Yukinoshita Yukino, Katou Megumi, and Hikigaya Hachiman stood silently in the hallway.
Yukinoshita Yukino was the first to raise her phone.
Displayed on the screen was a short message.
"Ren Asakura, how did you get my phone number? I don't remember exchanging contacts with you."
Ren Asakura thought for a moment before responding.
"Oh, that? Shizuka-sensei gave it to me. She told me to call you if I ever had any questions. You know how it is—I disappear for half the school day most of the time."
Hiratsuka Shizuka was the faculty advisor for the Service Club.
And Yukinoshita Yukino was the club president.
Naturally, the two had each other's contact information.
Since that was the case, Yukinoshita Yukino didn't press further.
But Ren Asakura grinned and added,
"Still, for a club president, isn't it a bit unreasonable to not share her number with her club members? What if something comes up and we can't make it to club activities?"
Yukinoshita Yukino thought for a moment before nodding seriously.
"You're right. Let's exchange numbers. I didn't anticipate Yuigahama's situation."
Inside the classroom, Yuigahama Yui looked at Miura Yumiko with a determined expression.
Outside, Ren Asakura was practically glued to the doorway, eavesdropping like a gossiping neighbor.
Taking this opportunity, Yuigahama Yui finally voiced her true feelings.
"Honestly… I really envy Ren, Yukino, Katou, and Hikki. They don't have to constantly please others, yet they're able to live so happily. They always say what's on their minds. Compared to them, I feel like I've been doing it all wrong—always forcing myself to fit in."
"They understand each other. They accept each other. Even with their flaws, their friendship doesn't change. Like, no matter how blunt Yukino is, Ren never gets upset with her. Hikki always pretends to nap during lunch, he's got that weird, awkward personality, and yeah, he can be a little gross, but everyone still gets along with him."
"So… It's not that I dislike you, Yumiko. Can we still be friends?"
Miura Yumiko, finally realizing what had been bothering Yuigahama these past few days, responded with a slight tsundere attitude.
"Hmph. Well… I guess that wouldn't be so bad."
A perfect conclusion. A happy ending.
This was youth.
Misunderstandings could always be resolved.
Ren Asakura grinned brightly and declared,
"This—this is youth! This is friendship! This is what high school life should be like!"
Ren Asakura glanced around.
There was Yukinoshita Yukino—who barely had any friends.
There was Hikigaya Hachiman—who also barely had any friends.
And then there was Katou Megumi—the quiet, background heroine.
"These guys are exceptions."
Ren muttered under his breath.
Yukinoshita Yukino shot him a cold glance.
"What did you just say?"
Ren Asakura let out an awkward laugh.
"Ahaha! I was just saying it's great that they made up. Clearing up misunderstandings is the essence of youth and friendship, after all!"
After explaining everything, Yuigahama Yui prepared to leave the classroom to find Yukinoshita Yukino.
Meanwhile, Ren Asakura spun around and made a run for it.
"Time to get out of here! If Dan—uh, Yukino sees me gossiping like this, she'll totally hate me."
Yuigahama Yui opened the door, only to find that the only person left inside was… Hikigaya Hachiman.
"You heard everything, didn't you, you creep…?"
In the end, Hikigaya Hachiman had to bear the consequences alone.
…
Outside the school building, students filled the campus with lively chatter.
Amidst the crowd, Ren Asakura spotted two familiar figures.
"Ah, the scent of youth! And also… the stench of teenage romance."
"Yūta, I will establish our base in this school."
Takanashi Rikka spoke dramatically, covering her sealed Wicked Eye with one hand.
Togashi Yūta let out a long-suffering sigh, rubbing his temples.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever you say."
Takanashi Rikka's eyes sparkled with enthusiasm.
"I have already decided on its name—'The Far Easter Magic Napping Society of Summer'! No one can stop the power of the Wicked Eye!"
Togashi Yūta watched Rikka getting all fired up and thought about how his dark past was still in the clutches of his sister.
"Sure, sure. But I doubt this will actually happen."
If they wanted to form an official club, they would need a faculty advisor.
And what teacher in their right mind would willingly sponsor a Chuunibyou club?
Without an advisor, the most they could do was create an unofficial interest group.
Ren Asakura observed silently, finding the whole thing hilarious.
Chuunibyou was truly amazing.
Then, without hesitation, he walked over.
Because having fun alone was nowhere near as good as having fun together.
Katou Megumi followed behind, blending into the background as usual, barely noticed by anyone.
Ren Asakura lowered his voice, making it deep and ominous.
"The Wicked Eye, huh? If you wish to establish your base in this land of powerful warriors… you are still too weak!"
Takanashi Rikka and Togashi Yūta turned toward him.
A stranger.
Or rather… someone who knew them, but whom they didn't know.
