Chapter 60: CHAPTER - 59
As I leave the room, my attention is drawn to a small figure lurking in the shadows—a girl with gray skin, fiery red eyes, and striking blue hair. She hides from the other Amazons, seemingly out of place. Her presence feels out of sync with the calm on the island. When she steps into the hallway near my room, she freezes, startled by my sudden appearance. For a moment, our eyes meet, and she reacts with a mixture of shock and defiance, trying to dart away.
But she's no match for my speed. I catch her easily, lifting her gently off the ground as her small hands pound futilely against me.
"Hello, little one," I say softly, curiosity piquing my voice. "It seems I don't have you in my records. Who might you be?"
Her red eyes narrow with defiance, lips curling into a snarl. "Let go of me!!!" she shouts, her voice shrill with frustration. "Or I will destroy you!!!"
I chuckle lightly, still holding her with ease. "Come now, little one. I just want to know who you are."
"I said... let go of me!!!" she screams, her eyes glowing an intense red, a surge of energy erupting from them like blazing rays of light.
But I'm prepared. I activate my absorption power just in time, neutralizing her attack with ease. The raw energy she unleashed flows into me, and Isa informs me that I've absorbed Omega energy. A new power is unlocked—Omega Beam eye rays. My suspicions are confirmed: she's no ordinary girl. She is Darkseid's daughter.
Realizing her attack had no effect, the girl switches tactics, using her surprising strength to try and break free. Despite her size, her power is undeniable, but she still cannot overpower me. With a simple motion, I draw more from her bloodline, absorbing her Omega energy while Isa purifies it. My body feels denser, my human form enhanced, and I notice a red glint forming in my own eyes. The transformation is subtle but powerful.
The struggle doesn't go unnoticed. The noise wakes the Amazons still in my room, and they quickly step out, unashamedly naked after our previous 'fight.' One of them lets out a gasp, her eyes widening in horror as she recognizes the child in my arms. It is Myrina Black. Her face goes pale as her gaze shifts between me and the struggling girl.
"MOM!!! HELP!!! He doesn't want to let me go!!!" the little girl, Grail, screams, panic filling her voice as her red eyes dart toward Myrina.
Myrina's expression crumbles, her worst fears evident in the way she freezes. The other Amazons react instantly, surrounding her like wolves closing in on prey. Three of them grab her, forcing her to her knees in front of me. They hold her arms and hair tightly, but there's little resistance. She knows, as do they, that it's futile to fight me.
I study her, calm yet commanding, Grail still writhing in my grip. "Myrina," I say, my tone as cold as the marble beneath us. "It seems you owe me an explanation. After all, if she is your daughter, shouldn't she be wearing the proper attire as one of my slaves?"
The words hang in the air like a blade, sharp and threatening. The Amazons tighten their grip on Myrina, but her eyes remain fixed on her daughter, who glares back at her with a mix of fear and confusion. Grail's small chest heaves with heavy breaths, but she says nothing, waiting for her mother to speak.
Myrina opens her mouth, but no words come. Her silence speaks volumes—fear, shame, guilt. It's all there, written across her face.
"So?" I press, my voice darkening with each passing second. "I'm waiting for an explanation. After all, this girl has great power, and she clearly doesn't come from the Amazons. I'm not a patient man, Myrina."
Her eyes flicker with a thousand unspoken words, but all that comes out is a whisper. "...I didn't think it would come to this..." she mutters, her voice trembling.
I step forward, my grip tightening on Grail as I lower her to the ground. The tension in the room thickens as Myrina's knees hit the cold marble. "You had better start explaining, Myrina, or the consequences will be severe—for both you and your daughter."
Myrina's gaze shifts nervously between her daughter and me, her voice trembling as she begins to explain. "My lord, her name is Grail. She is my daughter… and the daughter of a very powerful being from another dimension, Darkseid. Four years ago, the gods and other beings came to help repel Darkseid's invasion. It was a war like no other."
Her words fall heavy in the air, each one laced with bitterness and trauma. "During the battle, they managed to capture a device—a device capable of transporting beings with a certain combat capacity. The gods approached me and several other Amazons for an infiltration mission into Darkseid's forces. Ten of us were chosen."
Her eyes cloud over with the memories, haunted and distant. "Inside his ranks, we had to be ruthless, cruel to the enemies they captured. Some Amazons were discovered, broken, and killed instantly. I was one of the 'lucky' ones who survived… until Darkseid's gaze fell upon me." Her voice quivers slightly, and her fists clench. "He became interested in me… and the other women from races he conquered. He took us to his chambers, where he... violated us. Those who resisted were killed after their suffering."
She pauses, the weight of her words suffocating the room. The other Amazons surrounding her remain silent, their expressions a mixture of sorrow and fury.
Myrina continues, her tone quieter now, as though speaking aloud somehow strengthens the horror. "When it was over, he forced us to witness the destruction of our home planets… our people enslaved and turned into his monstrous parademons. Their suffering was endless. Those who survived became mindless creatures sent to conquer other worlds, the first wave of his terror."
Her eyes lower to the ground. "I was sent back to his army, expected to fight, to belong to his ranks." She exhales slowly. "When the gods finally severed the portal linking our world to his, I was the only Amazon who remained alive, the only one with the teleportation device. I returned… but I did not return alone."
She swallows hard. "A month later, I realized I was with child. I was consumed with thoughts of ending my own life. But then, something else came to me… the idea that my child could grow strong, strong enough to one day defeat her father."
Myrina's gaze hardens as she speaks of Grail. "When she was born, despite everything, I couldn't help but love her. I trained her—trained her with the best Amazon techniques. Even at her young age, her strength is undeniable."
Myrina's voice softens with a mother's love, yet there's an undercurrent of fear. "I kept her hidden when we were attacked. She was with the other slave children until you came to our rescue. But when I learned you were to be our king and master, I feared for her. No Amazon knew of her, and I couldn't advocate for her without revealing her origins."
Her eyes glisten with emotion as she pleads. "I kept her a secret, hoping that one day she could blend in with the other Amazons. All I ever wanted was to instill loyalty to you, my lord. Please believe me, I never wanted you to find out this way."
Myrina turns to Grail, her voice thick with urgency. "Grail… why did you leave your hiding place? I told you to stay there until I returned."
Grail looks down, her defiance momentarily replaced by guilt. "I'm sorry, mother. I was hungry, so I came looking for you. I promise no one saw me… until now."
Myrina's voice takes on a stern edge. "Daughter, you must apologize to our master for your rudeness. We must face our fate bravely—we have disappointed our savior."
Grail frowns, glancing up at me with resentment. "But mother… this bad guy won't let me go!"
Myrina's eyes widen with horror, and she snaps at her daughter. "He is our master, and we must obey him. Be obedient, Grail!"
The little girl hesitates, biting her lip before reluctantly looking at me with a sullen expression. "I'm sorry, master… I have been a bad girl. Please forgive me."
I remain silent, my gaze unwavering as I consider her words. Myrina, sensing my lack of response, becomes visibly nervous. The tension among the Amazons thickens, their stances radiating a protective, almost murderous aura. Grail, sensing the hostility, shifts anxiously, glancing at her mother for reassurance.
Finally, I speak, my voice calm but firm. "I will forgive you, Myrina. But you will face punishment for every Amazon law you broke under Hippolyta's rule. As for your daughter…"
I look at Grail, studying her closely. "Her power is undeniable, and I know how Darkseid's bloodline influences her. That's why I have decided that she will become my personal guard and servant. She will receive the finest training in everything she needs, no matter the cost. I will give her 10 to 15 years. During this time, her powers will grow to their full potential."
Myrina holds her breath, listening intently.
"Each year, she will have the opportunity to challenge me. She may even launch a sneak attack if she wishes. If she manages to defeat me, I will grant her freedom. But if she cannot…" I pause, allowing the weight of my words to settle. "She will fully submit to me. Grail will be mine in every way, and I will decide her fate from that moment forward."
My eyes narrow, locking with Grail's defiant gaze. "And don't worry, little Grail… I will push you hard enough to make you truly understand what it means to submit. What do you say to that?"
Grail's eyes gleam with fierce ambition as she responds, "I agree. I don't doubt that with my power, I'll defeat you. And when I do, I will kill you and become the mistress of the Amazons!"
A small smile tugs at the corner of my lips as I listen to her fiery declaration. "Ambitious, little one. But that will only happen if you manage to defeat me, which I doubt," I reply coolly. "However, if you continue to anger me as you are now, rest assured, I will remember. I'll accumulate every bit of my displeasure, and when your time comes for punishment, you will feel the full weight of it."
I lock eyes with her, my tone shifting from a warning to a command. "Now, go and register as one of my slaves with Hippolyta. You'll be fitted with the appropriate necklace and bracelets. As for your attire," I glance at Myrina, "I trust your mother will find something suitable for you to wear. She will also instruct you on the laws of the Amazons and my rules—rules which you are already breaking by not wearing clothes in my temple. Only now am I allowing you to defy that law, but don't mistake this for leniency."
I turn my gaze to the Amazons standing nearby, who watch the scene unfold in silent obedience. "Before I forget," I add, "you will take Myrina to one of the dungeons. She will await her trial tomorrow." I let my thoughts drift momentarily, smirking internally, thinking, *Looks like I'll have to delay my plans with Hippolyta's sisters.*
My voice turns sharp again. "Take Grail to Myrina's home and see that she is given food. You are dismissed."
With that, I release Grail from my grasp. Her defiance lingers, but she bows slightly, still under her mother's influence. In a swift motion, I transform into a miniature lightning dragon, my body crackling with energy as I shift into pure lightning. The Amazons barely have time to react before I disappear from their sight, leaving only a faint trail of electrical sparks in the air.
I surge through the temple, heading for my quarters, where I prepare to rest and await tomorrow's long and demanding day. There are trials to be held, punishments to be delivered, and a future queen to break—or perhaps, mold.
