Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Curiosity Killed The Cat
Needless to say, I was in for it as question after question they unloaded into me.
But I eventually had been able to escape them and make my way towards Sledge's mine.
Meanwhile, the others, at my request had gone ahead of me to New Haven as I assured them I'll handle Sledge so he won't cause any trouble with his bandits to Fyrestone and that I would obtain the Vault Key Fragment
I decided to take a walk on my own since I knew Angel would contact me. As for Sirin, I sent her to the Caustic Caverns, a place under the currently overrun town of Sanctuary, which used to be an old facility for mining operations.
Sirin was with Benares who I had opened a portal for and brought into this world, I had sent them both to clear out the Caustic Caverns of the insect pod Varkids and other creatures infesting the area, as it would be the perfect place to make as a HQ and at the same time I can mine for real Eridium.
While I can make and use Artificial Eridium, it isn't as good as the real deal, raw Eridium which is far more effective on enhancing my capabilities.
It was then that I heard a familiar voice echo inside of my head.
"Raime…"
Ah shit, I can feel she is mad and sad at the same time.
"Hello Angel, miss me?"
"…"
"Okay I was joking. But it's good to hear your voice again."
"Let me get this straight, you spent pretty much twenty years or so in that other world and mastered your powers…that's…" Angel paused, unsure of her next words.
"Genius?"
"Stupid! You were alone all that time!"
"Ah…" I started but then I paused what I was going to say.
Angel never had any friends due to her isolation and forced enslavement.
Then seeing me one of her only first real friends in nearly over a decade of imprisonment, jumping into a random portal that could have been dangerous.
Only to then learn that her friend had to battle against a world destroying calamity and spent 20 years in that world while only a few hours passed in this one.
In her perspective it was too much and overwhelmed her emotional and mentally while I had just become jaded during that time.
"I'm sorry Angel."
"…"
"It must have been a lot for you on your end compared to how I thought, I-?!"
I had wanted to continue what I was saying but I suddenly felt Angel's emotions spike as she panicked and cut off the telepathic transmission.
If I had to guess her father must have walked in at that moment.
It's fine, it'll give her time to move on from what has already happened.
Though I was pissed I couldn't talk to her more and finish what I wanted to say.
Deciding that I had spent enough time already just being idle, I teleported to Sledge's Mine and directly to the main chamber where he resides.
And there I saw him sitting on his throne, he and everyone in the room took immediate notice of me and went on guard.
"Who the fuck are you!?" Sledge roared as he grabbed his massive spiked metal hammer, which looks like Brick's hammer in Borderlands 2. It more than likely is the same one.
"Dead men don't need to know." And with that, I pissed him and very bandit off.
"Light him up!" Sledge ordered and very bandit opened fire on me.
Yet not a single bullet landed, instead they slowed down and came to a halt just before contact and simply stopped mid air.
Once they ran out of ammunition, they looked horrified and dumbfounded at the scene before them.
However, I wasn't going to waste anymore time with them as I twirled my hand and the bullets rotated 360 degrees before I did a flicking motion with my finger.
Every single bullet had then been sent back at the very person that fired it, but instead of killing them I made the bullets go directly down the barrels of their guns, causing them to explode in their hands.
As for those that survived, I condensed a field of energy around their bodies as I condensed that same field causing their bodies to explode into bloody mist.
As for Sledge, he looked horrified, he tried to run, but I used PhaseCreate to create chains that bound him in place.
I had also created a gag of sorts that made sure he didn't scream out his pleas for mercy as I knew the weak would always do.
I ignored his muffled cries as I walked past him and opened the chest near his throne as I saw the Vault Key and a lot of money.
I simply took the key and kept it separate from the chest as I left the money in the chest along with Sledge's hammer as a gift for the others.
With that sorted I made a portal and left through it.
Meanwhile, the chains that previously held Sledge in place had vanished allowing him to move.
Sledge was baffled that he had been spared, he turned around to gaze at the place he last saw the one that had instilled so much fear into him and and the saying "curiosity killed the cat" had never been truer in that moment.
The portal Raime had created had began to fluctuate uncontrollably before it began to fold in on itself creating a powerful suction force that began to alter Space and Time around it.
If any scientist or person with half a brain cells was standing in Sledge's position, they would surely know that these signs were obvious indications that thee portal Raime had made, had began collapsing in on itself and had formed a miniature Black Hole.
The Black Hole had relentlessly and mercilessly began drawing in anything and everything without exception, including Sledge himself who tried to resist but was unable to as the floor beneath him and broken free from under him.
"NOOOOOO!"
Sledge's demise was witnessed by only a singular person as she bore witness to everything Raime had done to not only Sledge and his men. But saw that the Black Hole began to expand and swallowed the entirety of Sledge's Mine and his men, sparing snd leaving no survivors.
Once the Black Hole had absorbed up to a certain range, it had suddenly ceased and halted in it's growth snd absorption as it nearly instantly reversed and receded in on itself and vanished in the exact spot it had first formed at.
Angel was left wide eyed as she saw the whole event take place and didn't know what to describe what she just saw.
But Angel had suddenly remembered what Raime had said about Sirens and their powers. He had said that he wasn't a natural Siren but all Sirens have the potential to reach galactic or even universal levels of power.
She looked down at her own tattoos on her left arm and pondered on his words.
