Chapter 236: Huge Changes
— — — — — —
"Hm?"
While the twin gods of time and space had come and gone, several other legendary Pokémon across the Kanto region—like Ho-Oh and Lugia—also cast their attention toward Eevee's direction.
Even after Dialga and Palkia left, their gazes lingered on Eevee for a few seconds before eventually fading away.
Only one curious pink Pokémon didn't look away.
Instead, it blinked once, then zipped straight toward Eevee.
"Mew!"
The very next moment, it appeared right in front of him.
"Huh?!"
Eevee blinked in confusion at the sudden appearance. "You're… Mew? What's going on today? All I did was unlock a new form, and now every legendary under the sun is showing up!"
"Meww?"
Mew tilted its head, clearly surprised that Eevee could speak like a human.
It circled Eevee excitedly, studying his new dragon-like form and the unfamiliar energy he gave off. Then, in a cheerful tone, it spoke directly into his mind:
"Hi there! I'm Mew! So you're Eevee? Is this a Dragon-type evolution? The energy coming off you feels really different from mine… Why is that?"
As the genetic origin of all Pokémon, Mew carried within it the genes of every species in existence.
Recently, it had detected a sudden mutation in the Dragon-type gene and followed the trail—only to discover it was all coming from this peculiar Eevee.
"That's right! You could call this my 'Dragon Form.'"
"So you came here just because of my dragon power? I'm open to a trade—how about I give you a portion of my dragon energy, and you give me a bit of your origin power in return?"
As he spoke, Eevee used his psychic power to levitate the Time-Space Origin Core he'd just gotten from Dialga and Palkia.
"Look at this! I got it just now in exchange for some of my dragon power. Pretty cool, huh?"
Eevee was genuinely curious about how Mew could merge the DNA and powers of every Pokémon.
If he could figure out how that worked, it might be a major step toward fusing all 18 elemental types himself in the future.
"Huh?"
Mew floated around the glowing orb with sparkling eyes, then looked at Eevee again.
"My origin power, huh? Hmm… Not impossible! But I can only give you a tiny bit. Too much would cause problems!"
As it spoke, it held up its tiny paw and made a circle about the size of a pea.
"Deal!"
Eevee didn't hesitate. He separated a strand of his pure dragon energy and floated it over to Mew.
Mew swallowed it in one gulp, then returned the favor—producing a small pink orb of pure origin energy and sending it straight to Eevee's forehead.
The instant it touched him, the energy sank into his mindscape and nestled itself firmly in the center of his mental sea.
"Wow, I knew it! Your dragon power is really something else! Once I fully analyze and absorb it, all Dragon-type Pokémon will naturally get a boost in strength!"
Mew gleefully zipped around Eevee again, clearly in high spirits.
"Wait, what?!"
Eevee's ears twitched. "How does that work?"
"Because I'm the genetic source of all Pokémon, remember? A lot of legendaries even share connections with me! That's one of the divine rights Arceus gave me."
"So once I update the Dragon-type gene in myself, every Dragon-type Pokémon in the world will benefit. Of course, nature always balances itself. After Dragon-types evolve further, it won't be long before other types undergo similar breakthroughs too!"
"Eevee, you've done something incredible this time. You're definitely on your way to becoming a true legendary. Keep going—Mew believes in you!"
Mew's tone carried both joy and admiration.
This wasn't just a lucky evolution. It had the potential to trigger a large-scale evolutionary leap across the Pokémon world.
No wonder Mew was looking at him like he was a priceless treasure.
"Seriously? That's insane…"
Eevee was stunned.
Back in his past life, he vaguely remembered seeing something similar in Pokémon fan theories and anime trivia—but he'd never imagined it was actually true.
Even crazier, just a slight tweak to Mew's own genetics could lead to corresponding changes in all related Pokémon.
That thought stirred something dangerous in his memory.
He recalled reading a wild fanfic once, where the protagonist somehow gave Mew a "feminization gene."
And as a result… the entire Pokémon world turned into cute anime girls.
At the time, he laughed it off as ridiculous fantasy.
But now?
Now he wasn't so sure.
With how things worked here... he might actually be able to do it. But won't he also became a woman?
"Mewww?"
The pink fluffball tilted its head again.
"Are you… thinking of something you shouldn't be?"
Mew could sense the strange direction of Eevee's thoughts. It wasn't exactly malicious, more like… mischievous. Playful. Definitely weird.
And for some reason, it felt like it involved Mew.
"Ahem!"
Eevee immediately cleared his throat, a faint blush creeping onto his face.
"N-No! Of course not! Just... uh, random nonsense. Ignore me!"
Yeah, no.
Let's not go down that route.
Turning the entire world into anime girls? That was a recipe for chaos.
Besides, he was a proud male Pokémon!
If things went sideways and it got caught in the wave of waifu-fication… it'd end up as one of them too! Just imagining the faces of the Renzo crowd if he got turned into some cutesy, genderbent mascot was enough to die of second-hand embarrassment.
There was no way he was putting himself through that level of self-inflicted trauma.
Oh man, Good thing Hermione can't come to this world or...
"Mew~! Alright then!"
Mew could sense that the odd idea had faded, so it didn't press the issue. Instead, it gave Eevee a cheerful reminder: "I can tell—you're walking the path to awakening all the elemental forms. My origin power should help with that!"
"Keep at it! Next time we meet, I hope you've succeeded!"
"I'm off to digest this power and evolve! Bye-bye now~ Mew!"
With a happy spin, Mew slipped through a rift in space and vanished.
...
"…Huh? That's it? Mew is gone?"
Only then did Cynthia finally react, staring at the spot where Mew had disappeared. "That really was Mew, wasn't it? Why'd it come find you, Eevee?"
"And another thing—why did your evolution attract three Legendary Pokémon? Don't tell me your new form's unstable or something?!"
She looked genuinely worried.
"Nope, nothing bad! It's actually a good thing!" Eevee grinned, waving her concern away.
He glanced at the source of time and space he got from the twin gods earlier—but he couldn't store it in his space wristband.
After a few seconds of thought, he pressed the orb against his forehead.
…Nothing happened.
Unlike the last time with the Spatial Source, this one didn't merge with its body or boost his strength. No transformation. No reaction.
"That's weird… It's not working?"
Eevee frowned, puzzled.
"Time and space… maybe I can't absorb it because I don't have any time-type skills?"
"And if I can't store it in the wristband either… What am I supposed to do, just carry it around like this?"
"If another Pokémon sees it and gets ideas, that's gonna be a real problem…"
Then suddenly, an idea popped into its mind—Takamagahara.
That was its personal domain, a pocket world. It had spatial structure too, right?
Eevee immediately activated its Eternal Mangekyo Eye, opening a small rift to Takamagahara and gently nudging the time-space source through it.
The moment the orb entered the domain…
BOOM.
Takamagahara shuddered violently.
Then, like a dam breaking, the whole world began to evolve.
From a fledgling micro-world, it started upgrading rapidly—growing in complexity and power.
In what felt like moments, it had become a fully-formed miniature world infused with temporal and spatial energy.
Laws and rules began to take shape—Energy systems from various Renzo members' worlds were drawn in and stabilized. The world's very fabric became more developed and structured.
A sudden gust swept through the land.
In the deepest part of Takamagahara, the Articuno that had been slumbering inside blinked awake, eyes wide in confusion.
"…This place feels… different."
It looked around. The domain was now teeming with life.
Grass and trees were sprouting naturally, and deep underground, new mineral veins had begun to form.
The world itself expanded rapidly, reaching over a thousand kilometers across before finally slowing down.
At the same time, Eevee felt a surge of feedback into its body.
A flow of power surged into its left eye, remodeling and evolving it further.
Another stream entered its mind and body, enhancing both its soul and physical form.
---
"…Whoa."
Meanwhile, Cynthia gasped in surprise.
All around Eevee, the grass suddenly shot up in height. The very air seemed to shimmer with energy.
Trees around them swayed joyfully, their leaves rustling as if celebrating. New buds and shoots popped out like they were racing to bloom.
The whole forest had come alive.
