Chapter 92: [92] Angel and Serpent

"Excellent, excellent! This way, you can still entertain me for a while!"

Upon seeing the angel formed from Roy's authority, Athena let out a chilling yet melodious laugh.

The massive serpentine body of the Gorgon monster slithered rapidly through the Alps, each twist causing landslides and avalanches in its wake.

"HssssAAAAAaaaaaaa————————"

The serpent opened its gaping maw, viscous fluid dripping from its razor-sharp fangs. Despite its enormous size, the Gorgon monster moved with lightning speed, striking at the angel's neck like a bolt.

The towering angelic avatar, resembling Michael, flapped its wings of radiant flame. The sword of judgment in its hand descended like thunder, slashing toward the monstrous serpent.

Clang——————

The collision between the blade and the serpent's scales produced a metallic clang, sparks flying and the sound piercingly harsh. In ancient times, dragons and serpents symbolized the same essence. Though this Gorgon monster appeared serpentine, it possessed the defenses of a dragon.

Yet, a serpent's body was still ill-suited to withstand the steel of a hero. The sword of judgment carved a bloody gash into the massive serpent's flesh. However, the moment crimson blood sprayed forth, the wound healed instantaneously.

As the most ancient Earth Mother Goddess, a monster symbolizing the serpent of reincarnation, Athena possessed an immensely powerful immortality. Even the Gorgon monsters formed from her body had the ability to shed their skin and revive.

'Michael's steel attribute is still too weak.'

Roy sighed slightly at this outcome. Although Michael had an impressive battle record, even achieving the feat of imprisoning the ancient dragon Satan, compared to the legendary heroes renowned for slaying dragons and serpents, Michael was somewhat lacking in this aspect.

If Roy possessed a powerful steel authority, a force capable of severing immortality, that previous sword strike wouldn't have merely left a bloody gash on the Gorgon—it would likely have split it in two.

Even if the serpent could regenerate after being cleaved apart, it would still consume a significant amount of its divine power.

At this moment, Roy couldn't help but feel eager to slay a Steel God and seize their spiritual foundation to strengthen his own authority.

"Have you run out of tricks?! Your sword cannot sever my Gorgon. If so, then melt beneath its venomous fangs!"

The lightning-fast serpent opened its maw and spewed venom—a corrosive substance capable of dissolving even matter itself. Where it landed, the earth of the Alps turned into sulfuric waters.

The serpent coiled swiftly across the land, its tail lashing out like a python to ensnare Michael's avatar, while its head darted once more toward his neck.

Seeing this, Roy abandoned his sword and instead manipulated the angelic avatar to seize the serpent's jaws with both hands. Michael possessed the strength to imprison ancient dragons—his might was immense, akin to the Greek hero Heracles, capable of restraining the Gorgon's serpentine body with sheer physical power.

This close-quarters grappling stance was the forte of the 'Hand of Jacob,' a wrestling technique at its core. The colossal angelic avatar and the Gorgon wrestled in a relentless struggle, their hundred-meter-tall bodies clashing like titans, shattering countless peaks of the Alps. The scene was a cataclysm straight out of myth—heaven and earth both crumbling.

BOOM——————

Michael's avatar seized the serpent's tail and spun it in a full 360-degree rotation before hurling it like a discus. With a deafening crash, the serpent's body slammed into a mountainside, nearly obliterating half the peak.

At some point, Athena had merged with the giant serpent beneath her, fully assuming the sacred form of a woman with a serpent's body—much like the ancient Eastern Earth Mother Goddess Nuwa. Across both Eastern and Western myths, many Earth Mother Goddesses took this form, for the serpent was their symbol.

Meanwhile, Roy had also fused with Michael's avatar, the giant angel's visage now taking on Roy's appearance. Against a monstrous entity like the Gorgon, only by becoming a giant himself could he stand a chance.

"Roy Crowley, though you are young, I must acknowledge you as a worthy Campione—a formidable adversary unlike any I have faced!"

Athena's voice resonated with layered tones, still melodious yet now imbued with a majestic and awe-inspiring might.

Though she had transformed into the Gorgon of dragon-serpent, her upper human form remained breathtakingly beautiful. Dozens of meters of silver hair cascaded over her perfectly rounded breasts, her slender waist a true serpentine curve, her exposed skin crystalline like snow. Despite her enormous size, her proportions were flawlessly balanced.

"Ah——————"

Suddenly, Athena let out a piercing scream—her gaze had fallen upon Roy's visage. The effect of Face of God activated instantly. Through Roy's face, Athena glimpsed an existence beyond mortal sight. Even as a goddess herself, the vast gulf in divinity seared her eyes nearly blind. Her massive serpentine body writhed uncontrollably.

"Who can rival this Beast? Who dares wage war against it?"

"Thou art guilty!"

Seizing the opportunity, Roy summoned the Sword of Judgment once more, activating its divine authority. His Michael-avatar raised the blood-red greatsword high with both hands, chanting the words of power to declare Athena guilty. The hierarchy between sword and serpent inverted instantly. As the kilometer-long blade descended, the earth split open in a massive fissure, cleaving a mountain clean in half—while Athena's Gorgon form was bisected at the midsection.

"AAAAAAAAHHHH——————"

The serpent's blood drenched the snowfields, dyeing the Alps crimson. Athena threw back her head in agonized screams, her incomparably beautiful features no longer composed. Her petrifying demon-eyes burned with pained fury.

"Kree——————"

An owl-like shriek echoed abruptly behind Roy. A gigantic owl dove from the sky, its beak spearing straight through Michael's avatar. Unlike the flesh-bound Gorgon, angels existed as energy constructs—no blood spilled from the wound, only radiant flames scattering like blossoms.

"Roy! Taste my forbidden power of darkness and death!"

The Gorgon's human hands now wielded Athena's signature scythe, enlarged to match Roy's colossal sword. Athena's combat arts were truly divine—master of all eighteen weapons, her scythe moved like lightning, faster than Roy could react. The angelic avatar was severed at the waist.

Death's corruption began eroding Roy's body. The mountain beneath his feet withered instantly, the very concept of 'mountain' drained of vitality into crumbling dust.

Athena's ancient history bore too many identities—her divine authorities and abilities were terrifying in their multiplicity. The Gorgon embodied her serpent aspect, the owl her night domain, while this scythe strike manifested her deathly aspect. Within the peerless scythe techniques also lurked her identity as goddess of war.

The angelic avatar too began withering under death's touch. Only Michael's own affinity with 'death' slowed the decay—had Athena, as chthonic goddess, not shared ties with Mesopotamia's Ereshkigal, the corruption would've been swifter.

Roy swiftly abandoned the avatar, letting the EVA-sized angelic form dissolve into particles of light.

Roy shot forward like an arrow from a bow, charging straight at Athena's half-serpent form with his right fist raised high.

"Saintess Subdues the Dragon!"

Five rings gleamed at the base of Roy's fingers as his powerful punch connected with Athena's stunningly beautiful face, denting the goddess's features.

This Saintess Subdues the Dragon strike not only carried the power to vanquish dragons but also incorporated the anti-dragon properties usurped from Solomon. The devastating damage inflicted upon draconic and serpentine beings sent waves of soul-rending, nerve-searing agony through Athena. Roy's punch blasted her serpentine body apart, forcing her back into her tall, silver-haired goddess form.

Although the Gorgon had been severed by Roy's sword, the monster's immortality was too strong, and it began to slowly regenerate. Roy's authority had usage and time limits—if the Gorgon revived again, leaving him to face an indestructible, dragon-scaled serpent, he would stand no chance.

Athena, who had been sent flying by a punch, twisted midair, her scythe transforming into a bow. Moonlight-like arrows shot forth with blinding speed.

"!!!"

Roy's sharp sixth sense allowed him to dodge at the last moment, avoiding a fatal hit, but the arrow still pierced his shoulder. He let out a pained groan as the tremendous force sent him flying backward. With a thunderous crash, he was slammed into the distant mountainside, pinned against the rock.

The enormous owl in the sky continued to swoop down, its beak aimed at Roy—just like the punishment of Prometheus, whose liver was eternally devoured!
