Multiverse's Holy Right

Chapter 96: [96] The Goddess Before Me Might Have Heatstroke!

A blinding radiance flashed, covering all darkness. The black hole capable of leveling a planet's surface transformed into the brilliance of a supernova explosion.

Viewed from outside Earth, one would first see an extremely dazzling light flash over the Swiss Alps in Europe. Then, this radiance shot outward in all directions into space, spreading rapidly in near-Earth orbit. In the blink of an eye, the light expanded into a circular shape—reaching the Arctic Circle to the north, crossing the English Channel into the Atlantic to the west, passing the Mediterranean to the south, and extending to the border of Asia and Europe to the east—almost enveloping the entirety of Europe.

In that instant, everyone in Europe witnessed the sky turn golden, sparking widespread panic.

Magicians and government agencies across Europe naturally observed this radiance covering the continent. How they later explained it to the public remained unknown.

As the light reached its peak brilliance, it gradually dimmed until it vanished. Meanwhile, a section of the Alps had been nearly flattened. Peaks disappeared, snowfields vanished—no one knew whether the destruction of this mountain range would trigger future climatic changes.

This devastation was not caused by Roy's Light of the Right but rather by Athena's Dark Star ravaging the surface.

Roy's Light of the Right had targeted Athena. Though the radiance was exaggerated, covering all of Europe, its actual damage to the physical world was almost negligible.

Roy sometimes wondered how his right hand could designate an entire planet as an enemy. How would he measure a planet's maximum output? If he could accomplish this, a single swing of his right hand could shatter a planet into fragments.

Extending this logic further—designating a star, the solar system, the Milky Way, the galactic cluster, the local supercluster, or even the entire universe as an enemy—would truly make it the "hand that shatters the universe."

Roy believed his right hand contained such miraculous power, as this was within the capabilities of a "Demon God." Currently, he simply couldn't reach this level or fully unleash the hand's complete strength.

"How absurd..."

On the shattered surface of the Alps, Athena lay on the ground, breathing heavily.

"This is utterly absurd... I, the goddess, have inexplicably been defeated just like that... I refuse to accept it, I deny this outcome... I... I cannot acknowledge such an ending!"

Athena bore no fresh wounds—the bloodstains and bruises were remnants from Roy's earlier punches. The attack of the Light of the Right was an incomprehensible, indescribable assault with no discernible process. It was neither physical impact nor magical destruction. Those struck by the Light of the Right, like Athena, would be left in stunned disbelief, just as Marquis Voban had been before.

For they could not fathom why they had lost, nor why their defeat was so absolute.

"Ugh..."

Athena tried to push herself up from the ground, but even this simple motion proved agonizingly difficult.

The Sword of Wisdom was Athena's killing technique, yet it was not one that left her powerless afterwards. On the contrary, with her strength, she could unleash the Sword of Wisdom two or even three times consecutively before exhaustion set in.

After using the Sword of Wisdom against Roy, she should have retained ample strength to continue fighting. But...

Her divine power was gone. Her stamina had vanished. Even her mental focus had dissipated. It was as though that mysterious right hand, with a single flash of light, had stripped Athena of all her divine might, physical endurance, and vitality.

"No... it did not merely steal my divine power. That light is no such shallow thing..."

Athena's wisdom stirred as she plunged into deep contemplation, finally realizing: "...That light stole my 'victory.' Every element that could have granted me triumph has disappeared. With 'victory' absent, my 'defeat' was inevitable... Preposterous, utterly preposterous! This ability defies all reason!"

Her amber eyes fixed on Roy as he slowly approached, gazing at the enigmatic hand resting on his right shoulder.

"Hahahahaha!! How laughable, how utterly laughable! That hand is no divine authority—I swear, no god possesses such a power! This is your own strength, Roy Crowley. You already held the power to save or destroy the world. The so-called authority of Michael was merely the spark that ignited the power you yourself possessed!"

Athena laughed wildly, her voice like moonlight plucking harp strings. Even in defeat, she carried none of the wretchedness or disgrace of the vanquished.

"What's so amusing, Athena?"

Roy stepped closer, his body drenched in blood like a crimson specter. By appearance alone, he seemed the defeated one. Yet in truth, Athena now lay powerless before him. As a Campione, he could do with the goddess as he pleased.

"A mere human, even before becoming a Campione, possessed power surpassing all the gods combined—how is that not laughable?! I laugh at the vastness of the world, at my own ignorance like a frog in a well, at the arrogance of the gods! Roy Crowley, in you I finally see infinite possibility—a potential even fate cannot bind. If it is you... then I believe a different ending surely awaits!"

The goddess laughed heartily, her enchanting and alluring figure trembling with mirth, the waves of her bosom swaying in a mesmerizing rhythm...

After a long while, she finally ceased her laughter, her noble countenance turning serious as she spoke, "...This one too has been blinded by preconceptions. When you proposed the pact, this one anticipated you must have a contingency. Yet this one was also arrogant, believing that no matter what backup you possessed, it could not surpass this one's wisdom. But reality has dealt this one a harsh blow."

"...Though this one possesses divine intellect, beyond the heavens lies a vaster world, a realm beyond the reach of this one's wisdom."

Roy used his magical energy to stem the flow of blood. Fortunately, a Campione's physical resilience was exceptional—an ordinary person would have long succumbed to blood loss by now. Suppressing the slight dizziness in his head, he gazed at his prize, the renowned goddess of Greek mythology, and asked, "...Athena, does our pact still hold?"

He didn't truly believe the agreement could fully bind this goddess. The deity representing wisdom was also synonymous with cunning—a glimpse into her myths revealed she was no rule-abiding divinity. Should anything cross her bottom line, she would undoubtedly tear up the contract and rebuke him with haughty words.

"This one is not one to deny defeat. Moreover, does the current this one have any room for resistance? Come then, O Demon King. You have conquered a goddess. Whether you seek to sever this one's head to usurp this one's power, or to vent your absurd and beastly desires upon this one's form, as the vanquished, as your captive, this one can only endure!"

"...But Athena shall never become your possession. Given the chance, this one will surely reappear before you to sever that Rakshasa's head from its shoulders!"

Even immobilized, Athena remained proud—not with empty bravado, but with the pride of one who faced all consequences with equanimity, willing to bear them all, yet certain to rise again and reclaim her glory.

Hmm... Before him lay a defenseless goddess—not metaphorically, but in literal truth. Moreover, she was the world-renowned Virgin Goddess. Should he take her now, they would become irrevocable enemies henceforth. Or should he merely seize her powers, leaving room for reconciliation in the future? Truly a difficult choice!

Yet Roy quickly reached his decision.
