As soon as the words left his mouth, the dirt at Allen's feet exploded as he shot forward like a cannonball, charging straight toward Rudeus.

But what met him was a real "cannonball."

Dense water spheres, each nearly a meter in diameter, filled the air like blue balloons, forming a thick "water wall." And this wasn't just a thin barrier—the wall was continuously growing thicker as more water spheres were added.

Allen smirked, his hand resting on his sword as he narrowed his eyes.

The wind seemed to grow quieter.

'Not bad... but this time, I won't just rely on the Sword God style... I need to cut through the water spheres while maintaining speed and attack range... Twenty Slashes won't work here... So...'

'North God Style—Practical Form—Second Technique.'

Dirt and debris scattered behind Allen as he leaped into the air, his body twisting mid-flight. His blade followed the motion, swinging in a wide arc as he gathered momentum for a powerful slash. The wall of water spheres was right in front of him now, so close that he could see the sunlight reflecting off their surfaces.

Battle aura surged through him.

'Circle Sky Slash!'

The battle aura enveloped his blade, making it seem as though the sword had grown longer.

The water wall was sliced clean through, and Allen burst out from the gap!

He slashed through the water spheres that came at him next, weaving through the gaps as the spheres exploded around him, their contents splashing onto the grass.

Amid the splashing water, Allen ran forward, his speed increasing rather than slowing.

He glanced at Rudeus in the distance, who was firing water spheres from his palms while bouncing backward like a balloon. Rudeus was using a combination of wind magic to propel himself away from Allen, creating distance between them.

'No wonder the water spheres are scattering... Rudeus can't aim properly while jumping... Jumping... Wind magic, huh? He's using it twice during each jump—once to propel himself backward and once to cushion his landing so he can jump again.'

'But it's not fast enough...'

The scattered water spheres couldn't stop Allen's advance. His reflexes were pushed to the limit as he dodged the spheres effortlessly, his movements fluid and uninterrupted, like a butterfly skimming across a lake.

The distance between them had closed to fifty meters!

Seeing this, Rudeus gritted his teeth.

"Waterfall! Ice Pillars!"

Allen instinctively sidestepped, expecting ice pillars to shoot up from the ground, but nothing happened. He looked up at Rudeus, confused.

Rudeus, however, was surrounded by a massive cylindrical flow of water that cascaded down, soaking the ground and forming a shallow river. Then, ice pillars suddenly erupted from the ground beneath Allen.

"Stone Cannon!"

Rudeus flicked his hand, sending a compressed stone blade that sliced the ice pillars into flat platforms. He stepped onto one of the platforms and shouted at Allen.

"Stone Cannon!"

Allen dodged again, but no stone cannon came. Instead, Rudeus used wind magic to propel himself backward, sliding across the water-covered ground on the ice platform at twice the speed of his previous jumps.

Allen was stunned.

'He can do that?!'

Before he could react, a stone cannon shot toward him. Allen deflected it with his sword, feeling the embryonic dragon battle aura in his core tighten and expand, sending a surge of energy through his limbs.

He sliced through an incoming ice spear, sending a wave of water splashing into the air as he charged forward. Stone cannons exploded behind him, kicking up dirt, but none could hit him.

Battle aura surged wildly as Allen's speed increased, his figure almost leaving afterimages!

In just a few breaths, the distance between them had closed to thirty meters!

Seeing that the stone cannons couldn't hit Allen, Rudeus showed no panic. Instead, his eyes sparkled with excitement as he shouted.

"Allen, watch this! A combined magic!"

"Mud Swamp!"

As soon as the words left his mouth, Allen's eyes lit up with understanding.

As someone who had read the original story, how could he forget Rudeus's signature spell? However, the current Rudeus couldn't instantly create a large-scale mud swamp. In the story, during his fight with Paul at the end of his childhood, he had used a two-meter-wide mud swamp.

Allen chuckled and swung his sword at the ground beneath him, using the wind pressure to split the rapidly softening earth. He leaped into the air, escaping the mud swamp, and sliced through an ice spear that came flying at him.

He landed five meters away, only for his feet to sink into another patch of mud.

"Huh?"

Allen looked down at his legs, now stuck in the mud, and then glanced at Rudeus in confusion.

Rudeus, who had stopped retreating, grinned excitedly and shouted at Allen.

"My water spheres and waterfall weren't just for show! Look around you! This is a specially prepared large-scale magic just for you!"

Allen sliced through another ice spear that came flying at him and quickly scanned his surroundings.

The hillside was now completely muddy.

Rudeus couldn't instantly create a large-scale mud swamp, but what if the conditions were already prepared?

During the fight, the massive amounts of water from the water spheres and waterfall had thoroughly soaked the ground. All Rudeus needed was a "trigger" to complete the large-scale mud swamp.

The entire hillside was now covered in mud.

Allen stared silently at his legs, stuck in the mud, while Rudeus began firing massive ice spears into the ground around him.

"But!"

Rudeus crossed his arms and smirked.

"Even if you're slowed down by the mud, I still can't pose a real threat to you. You can sense and cut through my magic with your Water God style, right?"

Allen narrowed his eyes and smiled.

"So?"

Rudeus waved his hand, firing fireballs that shattered the ice spears. The collision of ice and fire created a thick mist that enveloped the hillside.

Rudeus pointed at his own eyes.

"So, I'm going to blind your senses!"

He crouched down, placing his hands on the ground while keeping his eyes on Allen, and grinned confidently.

"Intermediate Magic—Geothermal Heat! Combined Magic—Thick Fog! Residents of this sword and magic world, feel the charm of physics!"

Allen felt heat rising from the mud beneath him as steam began to rise from the swampy ground, quickly shrouding the area in a dense fog.

'Tch, he's really full of himself, shouting his inner thoughts like I wouldn't understand.'

Allen tilted his head, raising his sword and aiming it at Rudeus's crouching figure, now barely visible through the fog. He smiled and asked,

"But if I kill the caster while they're using geothermal heat, the magic stops, right?"

Rudeus's eyebrow twitched.

"...What are you implying? Even if you could reach me, I could just use magic to escape."

Allen shifted his sword to the side of his head, adopting a throwing stance. He looked at Rudeus and said,

"The North God style has a technique for throwing swords. If this were a life-or-death battle, you'd already be dead the moment you crouched down."
