My Adventures As The Saiyan God of destruction

Chapter 35: Royal Guard

A couple of hours later, the tranquil silence of the golden chamber was shattered by the sound of Kade's panicked gasp. He bolted upright, his eyes snapping open to find Aria hovering over him, her arms crossed and a knowing smile playing on her lips. The sight of her was so unexpected that for a moment, he thought he was hallucinating—perhaps a side effect of his recent power surge.

"I had a vision," he said, panting, "A way to combat threats like my bastard brother and his bitch Yula. I need to assemble a group of warriors, loyal and powerful enough to stand by my side."

Aria raised an eyebrow at his language, but she knew better than to chastise a god in the throes of an epiphany. "And what will you call this elite squad?" she asked, a hint of amusement in her voice.

Kade's eyes lit up with excitement. "I'll call them the Royal Guard" he declared, the words rolling off his tongue with a regal flourish. "They'll be the most powerful and loyal fighters in the multiverse, trained by none other than the God of Destruction himself!"

"Royal Guard, huh?" Aria smirked, her eyes twinkling with mischief. "And what will their primary duty be, aside from fighting for your honor?"

Kade's cheeks flushed slightly, and he cleared his throat. "They will be... guardians of cosmic balance," he replied, his tone a touch defensive.

Aria's smirk grew. "Oh really?" she said, her eyes glinting with humor. "Because it seems to me like you're just looking for an excuse to surround yourself with a harem of fawning Saiyan females. I've seen the way they look at you, after all."

Kade couldn't help but chuckle at her accusation. "You think too much into things," he said, though the thought had crossed his mind before. He couldn't deny that the idea of being worshiped by a bevy of strong, beautiful warriors had its appeal, especially after the intense loneliness he'd felt upon ascending to godhood.

Their banter was cut short by a sudden jolt of memory. The room around them seemed to fade, replaced by the vibrant hues of a college quad on Earth. It was a flashback to a time when Kade was just a young man, navigating the human world with a mix of wonder and bewilderment. He was wearing a cheap, oversized t-shirt with a nonsensical slogan that read "I love your mom", and his hair was shorter, less wild than it was now. His date, a cute human girl named Liza, was laughing at his attempts to blend in, her eyes sparkling with amusement. They'd met in a history class, where she'd corrected his paper on human evolution, pointing out the glaring holes where his lack of knowledge were clear.

Liza had been a nerdy blonde with glasses, and she had a way of making him feel less like an outcast and more like he belonged. Her gentle teasing about his "out-of-this-world" muscles had made him feel seen in a way that was new to him. She had a way of looking at him that seemed to peer right through his godly facade and into the insecure heart beneath. Kade remembered the way her cheeks would flush when she talked about her favorite comic book characters, her voice becoming animated and her eyes lighting up like stars. She had been a stark contrast to the warrior goddesses and alien bounty hunters that usually surrounded him, and he found her refreshingly genuine.

The nostalgic vision was shattered as Aria's voice pulled him back to the present. "Kade," she said firmly, her eyes sparkling with mirth, "you can't save the cosmos by daydreaming about Earthly romance."

Kade blinked, the image of Liza fading from his mind. "What? Oh, right." He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. "But the Royal Guard is a solid idea, right?"

Aria smirked. "Indeed, it is. But first things first, we need to find suitable candidates. And you, my dear, need to focus."

Kade sighed, nodding in agreement. "Fine, you're right." He glanced down at his form, realizing that his hunger was more than just physical. "But before that, I really need to eat. That battle with Radak drained me."

Aria's smirk grew wider. "Where do you want to go?"

"Earth," Kade said without missing a beat, his eyes alight with excitement. "I've been craving a good, old-fashioned burger and fries for eons."

Aria raised an eyebrow. "Seriously?"

"You know I can handle both," Kade quipped, his tail swishing in anticipation. With a smirk, he waved a hand and his godly attire vanished, replaced by a casual black hoodie and matching sweatpants. He laced up a pair of sleek sneakers that seemed to absorb the light around them. "Now, I'm dressed to blend in with the locals."

Before Aria could object, a burst of energy signaled his teleportation. One moment, they were in the ethereal realm of the gods, and the next, the smell of sizzling meat and grease filled the air. The clanging of kitchen pans and the chatter of customers echoed around him as he found himself in a bustling burger joint on Universe Fourteen's Earth. The sudden change in atmosphere made him grin. It had been too long since he'd enjoyed the simple pleasure of a planet-shaking burger.

The patrons looked up from their meals as the hooded figure materialized in the middle of the restaurant. A few gasps of astonishment, a couple of spilled drinks, but mostly just puzzled looks. The cashier's eyes grew wide, but she recovered quickly. "Welcome to Burger Busters! What can I get you?"

Kade stepped up to the counter, his stomach growling louder than a planetary explosion. "I'll take the biggest burger on the menu, extra cheese, and a side of those heavenly-looking fries," he said, his voice a rumble that seemed to shake the very foundation of the building. He didn't bother to check the menu; he knew what he wanted. The cashier nodded, scribbling down his order with trembling hands.

"And because I'm feeling extra peckish," Kade continued, his grin growing wider, "make that five orders of the large fries, a chicken sandwich, five bacon burgers, and that mouthwatering salad with all the toppings. Oh, and don't forget the chicken nuggets. I've got a taste for a little bit of everything today." The cashier's eyes grew wider with each addition to the order, and the line behind him began to murmur. Some patrons took a step back, unsure if they were in the presence of a celebrity or a cosmic anomaly.

"But wait, there's more," Kade said, his voice echoing with the enthusiasm of a child in a candy store. "I've heard whispers about a secret menu item called the 'Rib Sandwich'. Tell me, do you have that today?" The cashier nodded, her voice barely above a whisper. "Excellent," he said, slapping his hand on the counter. "Make it two, and throw in that 'Barbecue Deluxe Fries' special I've heard so much about."

The cashier's hand paused mid-air. "And what to drink, sir?" she managed to ask.

"Ah, the pièce de résistance," Kade said, leaning in with a glint in his eye. "I'll take your 'Supercharged Surge Soda'. Make it a large. No, scratch that. Make it a gallon. And throw in four cups of soda for good measure. I wouldn't want to miss out on the full Earthling experience."

The cashier's expression was a blend of amazement and terror. She swiped the credit card that Kade casually handed her, the total flashing on the screen in neon digits that could've paid for a small spaceship. "Your order will be ready shortly," she said, her voice shaking.
