Then he continued to fiddle with the two hairpins, sweating as he picked the lock.

I said to Beichen, "Skylights like this are usually remote-controlled, but there is a button on top too. I can climb up there and operate it manually. I'll go up, you stay below to keep guard against anything trying to break in."
