Chapter 368: Chapter 367: The Change of Kota
"Hmm... is this my training ground? It's really simple." Kaminari raised his right hand, which was constantly glowing with dazzling golden light, looked around at the environment, shook his head, and smiled.
By now, special training had officially begun, and everyone in Class A had started their respective training routines.
Due to the special nature of his Quirk, he was assigned to a dark cave, just like Tokoyami Fumikage next door.
It was literally just a cave. There were no decorations or lighting equipment, so he had to rely on his own electricity for illumination.
However, it wasn't completely empty. There was also a large generator placed inside, which served as his training equipment.
"Then... let's begin!"
Sizzsssssssssssssss
Kaminari walked over and grabbed the generator's cable. His entire body was immediately shocked by a powerful electric surge. But since his Quirk was electricity-based, he didn't scream or show any panic.
As he withstood the high-voltage shock, he discharged all the electricity stored in his body. Millions of volts burst from the surface of his skin in an instant.
Crack!!
In that moment, the dark cave lit up like daylight. Countless high-temperature electric arcs shot out, striking the ground and walls, leaving behind various sizes of scorched pits.
So when he warned Minoru Mineta earlier not to come near him, it wasn't an exaggeration. Although his warning wasn't even based on this particular effect...
It was because... of this.
Kaminari, gripping the cable tightly, completely enveloped in golden electric light, had undergone a transformation. His entire demeanor changed.
Most noticeably, his expression had shifted. He now wore a dumb smile on his face.
This was the aftereffect of unleashing millions of volts all at once. It caused a temporary short circuit in his brain, putting him into a mindless state.
He would never do this under normal circumstances. But this was part of his training now.
Once he discharged all the electricity from his body, the generator would fully recharge him in an instant, and then he would discharge it again.
This repeated cycle drastically increased his power storage capacity, but also forced him to remain in this goofy state for short periods. That was the main reason he warned others not to get close!
These two caves were specially created by Pixie-Bob using her Quirk.
One was dark, filled with Tokoyami's painful and violent howls. The other radiated dazzling golden light, paired with the constant sound of crackling electricity.
No matter which cave it was, both gave off an intimidating aura, so naturally no one dared approach either of them.
Time passed, and with the arrival of Class B, the once-spacious forest clearing suddenly became lively and crowded.
Various Quirks were activated, with explosions, screams, and roars blending together into what resembled a battlefield.
Meanwhile, Class A's homeroom teacher Aizawa, Class B's teacher Vlad King, and the four members of PUSSYCAT, who were in charge of supervision and instruction, became extremely busy.
After all, overseeing forty students training with Quirks at the same time was easier said than done!
As the sky darkened and evening arrived, the day's intense training finally came to an end.
Everyone was exhausted to the point they couldn't even speak. They lowered their heads, sighing, not even glancing at the ingredients spread out on the wooden tables.
"Alright!"
"I told you yesterday I'd only take care of your meals for one day. Starting today, you're on your own. That includes breakfast every day!" Pixie-Bob in the blue dress shouted loudly.
"Of course, we'll still prepare the ingredients for you. Tonight's menu is curry!" Ragdoll, dressed in yellow, pointed at the carrots, beef, potatoes, curry powder, and other items on the table.
"..." All forty Class A and B students responded weakly in unison, looking completely worn out.
"Hahahaha, everyone looks so miserable!" Ragdoll laughed dramatically, then added, "But you still have to make dinner properly!"
With no other choice, Kaminari and the others dragged their tired bodies to start cooking, all for the sake of a hot meal.
Those who could cut vegetables handled the carrots and potatoes. Others carried iron buckets to fetch water. Of course, they also needed help lighting the fire.
You might not believe it, but what Pixie-Bob had prepared was a traditional stove that required firewood. Thankfully, there was firewood available—somewhat considerate at least.
Boom!
Just as Bakugo blew up a stove nearby, Kaminari stepped forward to help light a different one. This caught the attention of Kyoka, who had been watching Todoroki easily ignite a fire and Momo light one with a lighter.
"Kaminari, you know how to light a fire too?"
"Of course. Electricity generates heat too." Kaminari squatted in front of the stove, forming a glowing golden ball of electricity in his right palm.
Boom!
As he placed the electric ball into the firewood, the dry wood ignited instantly. There was no unstable current, as if he had just placed a ball of golden flame rather than high-voltage electricity.
"That's amazing..." Kyoka smiled.
Soon after, with the efforts of forty students using their Quirks, delicious-smelling curry rice was finally served on the wooden tables, even though night had already fallen.
"I'm gonna start now!!!"
As soon as someone said that, everyone rushed to pick up their spoons and eat, not waiting even a second longer. They were starving.
But no one noticed that Izuku Midoriya had disappeared at some point.
"Huh? What is Kota doing?"
Carrying a bowl of curry rice, Midoriya followed a trail of footprints to the top of a hill, where he found Kota struggling to do push-ups under the moonlight.
Bang.
But after just two reps, he collapsed on the ground, his stomach letting out a long gurgling sound.
"You can't train on an empty stomach. Eat this first, some curry." Midoriya walked over with a smile.
"How... how did you find this place, you bastard?!" Kota stood up angrily and asked.
"Well, I just followed the footprints. I figured you might need some food..."
"No! Get out of my secret base right now. I told you I don't want to hang out with you!" Kota said furiously.
"Secret base..." Midoriya looked around while holding the curry and asked, "Do you come here often to train?"
"I..." Kota opened his mouth but had nothing to say.
Midoriya, observant as always, noticed something. From Kota's awkward movements earlier, it was obvious he hadn't trained much before.
Suddenly, Midoriya thought of something and asked in surprise, "Did you hear what Kaminari-kun said and decide to start training on your own?"
"I... I..." Kota stammered for a while, then turned around and shouted in frustration, "That has nothing to do with you! Get out of here!"
But Midoriya wasn't fazed by Kota's attitude at all. After all, he had already survived Bakugo's personality.
"If you want to train, you have to eat. You won't have energy on an empty stomach. I'll leave the curry here for you." After saying that, Midoriya placed the curry rice on the ground and turned to walk back down the hill.
Kota pursed his lips and stared at Midoriya's back. His small fists clenched tightly as he silently reminded himself.
He wasn't training to become some kind of annoying Hero. He wanted the strength to avenge his parents' deaths.
"That guy's right... becoming stronger isn't a bad thing. It gives me more options."
In the next moment, Kota stepped forward, picked up the bowl of curry, and started eating quickly. He knew Midoriya was right. You can't train when you're starving.
"I want to become ten thousand times stronger!"
