For a moment, he wanted to grab her hand and openly acknowledge their relationship, but he knew that if he did, Xue Feifei might decisively walk away right then and there.

Even though he could always catch up with her if she ran, it would be like returning to square one.

He was weary of this chase-and-run scenario. Thus, the hand that was brushed off only lingered in the air for a brief moment before slowly sliding back into his trouser pocket.

The group returned to the hotel. Taking a lesson from their previous encounter, Xue Feifei avoided the room they had stayed in the night before, instead choosing the one she had initially shared with her assistant. Her assistant was sent to fetch a doctor, leaving the four of them alone in the room. Oblivious to the situation, Lu Weixi got a cold drink from the fridge for Xue Feifei to use as a cold compress. “Ice this for a bit.”

Xue Feifei nodded and applied the cold drink to the swelling. While Du Sui had struck her hard, she was a woman, lacking strength. If a youthful and muscular man had hit her in the same way, she would probably have a large bruise by now.

Though her face was red and swollen, and make-up wasn’t sufficient to hide it, it was necessary for the swelling to subside as quickly as possible. Just then, Qin Zhiyou received a call from his secretary reporting on his work. With the cold drink in her hand, Xue Feifei reassured them, “I’m fine. You guys handle what you need to.”

Lu Weixi looked at her worriedly, “But what will you do if Du Sui remains here?”

“Good, let her stay here,” Xue Feifei returned with a cold smirk. “She slapped me once, I will return her the favor twofold! I don’t care about her wealth or influence – if she doesn’t mess with me, I won’t mess with her. If she comes at me, she should be ready for double the retaliation!”

“No more ‘buts.’ This film is also my investment, so I’ll be around the set in the upcoming days with increased security. While they were discussing, Yu Sixing always stood near the window, not participating. But now, he finally interjected.

Lu Weixi hummed in agreement, “Just be careful and contact us immediately if anything happens.”

Her flight was leaving in three and a half hours; it was time for her to leave. However, she was still worried about Xue Feifei. “Are you sure?”

“I’ll be back after filming. I’ll have plenty of time to catch up with you then.”

Lu Weixi retorted, “He’s not Feifei’s boyfriend, he can’t always be by her side, can he?”

His comment inadvertently hit a sensitive spot among the trio. Qin Zhiyou pretended not to hear, Xue Feifei coughed, and Yu Sixing, although silent, looked at her with concern.

Lu Weixi, sensing an odd shift in the atmosphere, was about to inquire when Xue Feifei, coughing and grimacing, interrupted, “My injury hurts when I cough.”
