My Kitsune System

Chapter 11: Chapter 11

Far away in past the clouds, pass the atmosphere is a beautiful place within the firmaments above. It's like a beautiful garden. It's filled with trees and the most beautiful of flowers. On the trees are different kinds fruits. The place always smelled fresh and was full of life. Nothing dead exists on this plane.

The architecture exuded a kind of ancient presence. The place made use of columns to hold the buildings together. On the structures, there seemed to be drawings and stories being told on them. Some where of a being coming and giving a gift to lower beings. The gift seemed to be something glows and burns…like fire…

While on other structures it seems to be images of beings waging war…

Within this plane there are only handful of beings. They were a sight to behold. Their skins glowed and gave off a kind of radiance.

Their skins had no blemish nor did it have any spots on it.

They wore robes and not modern suit and ties men wore. Everyone seemed to busy doing something.

Some were having a chat, while others seemed to be involved in different kind of games.

As this was going on… one of the beings could be seen standing and looking into the horizon. She was dressed in long white robe that drew itself across the floor. It had touches of red about it.

Her face glowed and radiated. Her lips were as red as blood. The air around her subtly said the words "royalty".

Beside the beautiful being a kind of portal opened. Out of it popped out a fox-like looking being. It had five tails behind it. The fox's fur was white in color. On it were various kinds of drawings and markings. The inscriptions had a kind of dark blue hue to them.

The fox came and sat beside the woman. It then looked up to the woman.

"So, tell me Yuki what news you have brought from the human realm. How is he? Is he still refusing the system?" the woman spoke softly.

The fox then opened its mouth to speak.

"He is still a bit hesitant. He is still broken after the loss but I believe he will soon give in"

"Okay, that is good then"

"But why though" Yuki asked. "Aren't there other beings more qualified to carry out your biddings?" she asked.

The goddess withdrew her gaze from the horizon and then looked into Yuki's eyes.

The goddess broke a lovely smile to Yuki.

"You may not seem to understand now, but in future you will. You don't gauge by the present but the future" The goddess said.

As they both spoke, another being moved in closer. It was a male being. His hair was long and white. His temperament seemed to be very calm. His very movement seemed to affect the tides. He came and stood beside the goddess.

"Help me watch over him" the goddess whispered into the ears of Yuki.

And with that Yuki took a bow and then teleported again.

"So how is your preparation for the event coming along? Have you found a worthy candidate?" he spoke.

"I have but like every human he is stubborn" she chuckled as she walked over to a young plant and then accelerated its growth.

"You chose a human as your champion?"

The goddess stopped for a while before she continued nurturing the plants.

"Yes, I did" she said devoid of emotions.

"Common you know you don't have to blame yourself for what happened" he said as he got closer to her.

The goddess said nothing, a pained expression began to grow on her face. But then it immediately retracted back.

"But I am to blame for it all… "she said as she looked down towards the earth.

The whole city was now covered in darkness. It was really quite late. A cool breeze blew across the city. It took with it the scent of fresh grass that had just been cut down. It then began to drizzle.

The light rain brought with it a kind of cold. One that sneaks below and makes one's bone chill. But Dan felt none of that, as his heart was now frozen. He felt nothing but how cold his heart was.

So, they were aware of what happened. But then they decided not to do anything.

Dan thought as he walked back to school. He got into his dorm and sat on his bed. He then opened up the system screen to look at his stats.

Life Essence Remaining: 98%

Divine abilities huh? Wonder what are those. Dan thought to himself until he saw what was below his divine abilities.

"Life essence?" Dan spoke the words out. "What does that mean and why is it at 98%"

And as if to answer his question, the system then brought out the description for it.

Life Essence Remaining: 98%

The host has been granted the powers and abilities of the divine. The host can use these abilities to bend the world to his will but it comes at a price. Such abilities are for the divine and not meant for a human. In exchange for receiving such power, the host will pay for it with his own life essence.

Dan then froze, he read the description again and again. Till the meaning sank deep into him.

He closed his eyes as if in thought.

"So, in other words I will end up dying if the life essence reaches 0% then"

He could feel his heart break.

"Huh" Dan sighed.

"Basically, still in a dance with death again I see" Dan said as he laid back on the bed, his body now sank into the mattress.

"Huh, so the system is going to kill me either way"

"No matter how hard I try or fast I run it's inevitable I see"

A kind of crooked smile now began to grow on his face.

"If it's death in the end I might as well make it count" Dan whispered into the cold night.
