Chapter 464: The Death of Farhadi

Next to Farhadi, there was only a small escort team. Lani, leading Ye Fan, went on a killing spree, easily eliminating those who blocked their way. These people died without ever understanding whose hands they fell at.

In an instant, Farhadi did not sense anything amiss, as Ye Fan and others swiftly surrounded him with murderous intent.

At this moment, only a few trusted aides and insiders planted by Kasam were by Farhadi's side, while Brand only had Crocodile and a few subordinates with him, with no other reinforcements.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!" More than a dozen rapid gunshots rang out, and the people around Farhadi and Brand fell dead without even having the chance to react, seeing Lani and Ye Fan together shooting at them.

"What happened to Miss Lani? Why is she shooting at us? Has she gone mad? And how did Ye Fan get in here?" With such doubts and confusion, the fallen lay on the ground, their eyes eternally filled with questions.

By now, only Farhadi and Brand were still alive, while everyone else, including Crocodile, had perished.

Dealing with these troubles was necessary to avoid unnecessary complications. It was best to strike before others could react.

Brand staggered back three steps, fear evident in his eyes. Instinctively seeking a safe place to hide, he realized there was nowhere to run. His mind turned to chaos, unable to comprehend why Lani was with Ye Fan, but sensing the lethal danger, understanding that was enough, and he couldn't help but fear.

Farhadi looked at the corpses on the ground, then at Lani. At this moment, he couldn't care less about Ye Fan and his companions, focusing all his attention on Lani. While his heart was sorrowful, an unprecedented sense of humiliation overwhelmed him.

Not long ago, he and Brand had confidently assured that Lani would have a way to deal with the public's rebellion.

But the next moment, Lani delivered them a fatal blow.

No one would have expected Lani to act this way. Even loudly declaring Lani a traitor wouldn't be easily believed, because Lani grew up in Farhadi's territory and rose to her current status. There's no exaggeration to say Lani had no connections with Kasam, no reason at all to betray Farhadi for Kasam.

"Why, why?" Farhadi yelled hysterically, "I have not treated you poorly, why do you betray me?"

He realized now, Lani the traitor would soon be the key to his demise.

He trusted Lani greatly, otherwise she wouldn't have become his deputy. Following Lani's advice, he had already commanded his people to surround the military base, knowing that getting Kasam to surrender was crucial given the circumstances.

But now it seemed Lani's strategy of luring the tiger away from the mountain succeeded, leaving his forces depleted and providing the opportunity for a coup.

Farhadi had too many questions, too many things he couldn't understand, even in his dreams, he wouldn't believe Lani betrayed him.

"In a small game of thrones, perhaps you're fine, using your methods and ruthlessness so no one dares provoke you. However, you want to replace Kasam as the ruler of Ba Country, you can't. You lack the skills and capability. Is this reason satisfactory to you?" Lani spoke, then sneered.

She had bided her time for so long, finally able to reveal her inner thoughts to Farhadi, and it felt exceedingly gratifying to her.

Having concealed her intentions for so long, she never imagined there would be a day they'd be exposed. Now, she felt immensely at ease.

"You're out of your mind, what a nonsensical reason, Ba Country is such a chaotic mess, and only those capable of surviving are the kings." Farhadi scoffed, "Your hands are also stained with blood; do you think you can become Ba Country's savior? Laughable, do you know how ridiculous you are?"

With these words, Farhadi laughed, a laughter full of tragic and unfulfilled bitterness, which was thoroughly uncomfortable to hear.

"Precisely because I witnessed too much bloodshed, I wanted to make a change." Lani said indifferently: "Talking with someone like you is too much a waste of emotion, go die."

Farhadi looked at the muzzle of Lani's gun pointed at him and chuckled miserably: "Shoot, dying by your hand is not unjust. Who would have thought, I, Farhadi, arrogant my whole life, would end up in such a downfall, dying at the hands of the one I trust the most. How tragic, how lamentable."

"Had I known earlier you harbored thoughts of betrayal, I would have had you dismembered, let you suffer endlessly, unable to live or die," Farhadi cursed, his entire face twisted in rage, roaring loudly.

"Bang!" Accompanied by the echo of his words was a crisp gunshot. A bullet pierced through Farhadi's forehead, and the raging fury and murderous intent in Farhadi's eyes dissipated, just like the fleeting life.

Farhadi was dead, collapsed on the ground. No matter how arrogantly he had lived, in death, he was just a body, changing nothing.

Lani glanced at Farhadi's corpse, feeling a sense of relief in her heart but also a hint of desolation. The mighty Farhadi, who held his own against Kasam and Yahward, died so tragically, truly a sorrowful end.

Farhadi also realized Lani's determination to kill him, so he didn't say much, just let the hatred in his heart roar out in that cry of despair.

He no longer had the mind to think about the aftermath of his death, as there was no time to ponder.

But one thing was certain, he believed his death would lead his generals to govern themselves independently, fighting each other to expand their power, which would tear apart the force he'd worked hard to build.

What he couldn't imagine was Lani had her own plans and was already prepared to take over all territory. By eliminating the generals who came with Farhadi, she could consolidate the remaining forces. Upon reaching Farhadi's territory, Lani would be the boss, with a justification to eliminate any dissenters and even a reason to remove threats.

If Farhadi had known this, he probably wouldn't have died so angrily; certainly, he would have died with his eyes wide open in disbelief.

But Farhadi, now a corpse, could no longer imagine the events to come.

The only remaining value of his body was for Lani to exploit it, to elevate her status, serving its final purpose.
