My Professor Is My Alpha Mate

Chapter : Prologue 1: Karenina's Past

Karenina opened her eyes after a long sleep in the middle of abandoned land, she doesn't quite remember how many hours later or maybe days. The dry sand reeked of dead corpses and decaying blood of those very corpses. She tilted her face to her right side and found a rusted sword in my hand.

'They couldn't even provide me with a sharp blade. Truly wonderful.'

Karenina had no words for her ruthless father, who thinks it's okay to deport his 13 years old daughter to a complete wasteland. In the name of having her trained for the future heiress of the pack, he didn't even hesitate to kick her out and leave her in this lifeless part of the country.

'Does he not know that this is the land where a horrifying war between werewolves and vampires happened? How could he do this to me?'

She closed my eyes, suppressing her growing rage and hatred against him. But no matter how much she tried to suppress, her blood boiled for an honest explanation from him.

'I wonder if he's my father or just an enemy! He wants me to fight with the vampires and the vicious rogues all by myself! Isn't he worried about my life?'

She took a deep breath before opening her eyes and standing on her feet with the support of the sword. She looked up at the scorching heat radiating from the sun straight on her and cursed within, "Dammit! This sun is going to roast me alive."

Before she could even think of finding a hideout, she heard footsteps arriving from all directions, towards her.

'Yeah, stupid me. How can I forget that this wasteland has food scarcity? There's no prey left because all were hunted by the hungry rogues and vampires...'

"Father, I hate you. I truly hate you," she cursed under her breath as her fingers tightened on the hilt of the sword and she stood in a stance, holding her sword in an attacking position.

To her surprise, a group of non-shifting wolves galloped out of the bushes and they quickly ran with their tails hiding between their legs when they saw her, the female Alpha she-werewolf.

"Damn, got worked up for nothing," she sighed in relief and turned back to leave but halted her steps when someone patted on her right shoulder.

In a quick reflex, she whirled back to see the audacious bastard, who dared to lay his hand on her. To her surprise, behind her stood a redhead teenager boy, a little taller than hers and had a toned, slim physique. His shirt was ragged and had blood patches on them. While his pants were torn at the knees and his shoes' soles were reduced to nothingness.

What astonished her were the daggers in his hands, they were sharp, new, shiny silver blades unlike her rusted sword!

Feeling envious, she tilted her face to the left , and cursed, "Hey, redhead rogue boy! How dare you touch me? Do you have any idea who I'm? You can get executed for harassing me!"

The redhead boy wasn't impressed by her empty threats and replied even more rudely, "Hey toddler, I don't care whichever pack you belong to. Just run and hide yourself if you want to live, leaders of rogues are coming down to hunt us!"

"Excuse me? A toddler? Me? Hey, uneducated rogue boy," she pointed her sword's top in the middle of his throat. "Hello, Mr nobody, you dare to insult me? How could you call an ICONIC DIVA like me a toddler? And what are you even suggesting to me? Run away?"

"Why should I run away when I'm here to train myself by facing the rogues and vampires? Get out of my way, talking with you is like wasting my precious time."

The redhead boy gave me a look of annoyance and shouted at me, "Toddler, I'm not a rogue, okay? I'm also from a pack and came to this abandoned land to complete my final training like you!"

"But unlike you,I have done some research about this place. I know places where we can hide ourselves from rogues and vampires and take rest," the boy suggested. "I mean we can't keep fighting non-stop. Our bodies need rest too. If my suggestion was too much for a toddler like you to understand, then please ignore me and keep showing bravery."

"You keep talking like you are my father. How old are you, child?" she taunted, a mischievous smile appearing on her lips.

"Old enough to be your brother, kiddo. 16," the boy replied. "I'm Kaiden, just call me brother, toddler."

Karenina frowned, "Stop calling me kiddo or toddler."

"Oh my, then what should I call you, little Miss ICONIC DIVA?" Kaiden teased her with an amused smile playing on his lips.

"Cinderella."

"Huh?" Kaiden fluttered his eyes in confusion, and repeated, "What did you say? Can you say that again?"

"Sheesh! I said my name is Cinderella. Call me that, got it ?" She folds her hands across her chest and proudly smiles.

His eyebrows raised up in absolute shock. He was stunned to say anything and just nodded to himself, 'Yeah, I understand. She's just another teenage girl who's obsessed with Disney Princesses. I guess her favourite Disney Princess is Cinderella! LoL!'

"Okay, Miss Cinderella, how old are you?" he asked, politely while hiding his obvious laugh.

"13. But do not think I'm weak. I'm the daughter of a very powerful and strong Alpha. Though he hates me," her smile vanished, and sadness creeped in.

"Who hates you, Miss Cinderella? Your father?"

Karenina nods, "Yes. It's fine. I just need to prove to him I'm strong and powerful enough to be his successor. I'm sure he will praise me and never send me to wasteland ever again."

Kaiden felt her words were a little too deep and became sad for her. Forcing a polite smile, he pats on her head lightly and assures her, "Yes, you just need to prove yourself to him. I'm sure he will acknowledge you as his lovely daughter."

His words brought a smile to her, "Thank you, brother Kaiden."

"Brother...?" He reacted shockingly, and brushed his hair back. "Well, I have no sister so I will consider you my younger sister."

"Now, you must follow everything I say. Okay?"

"Hello?" She twitched her lips in annoyance, "I'm your sister not your slave. If you keep this up, I'll take back my word and ignore you like you are a stranger to me."

"Dear Goddess, you have a short temper! Guess, you are definitely worthy enough to be my younger sister," Kaiden laughed, teasing her even more.

Both the teenage kids laughed, pure bliss of innocent sibling feelings.

Karenina, who despite having many half- siblings, was never allowed to interact with them. Her mother would never allow her to play with them because they were bastard children of her father, Alpha Dante from other breeders.

Even though Karenina's mother, Luna Virginia was once a breeder for Alpha Dante. Because of her extraordinary beauty and intelligence, she made Dante fall for her and became his chosen Luna. After becoming Luna, she ordered execution of all breeders and their children.

Few of them escaped, saving their lives and few of strong bastard children were shown mercy by Alpha Dante. Which is why Karenina's mother is vary of those bastard children and tried her best to convince Dante to announce Karenina as his successor.

Truth was, after giving birth to Karenina, Luna Virginia suffered countless miscarriages and hence pack's doctor told her she cannot become a mother again. So all she has is Karenina. Unfortunately Karenina is too young to understand this and thus hates her mother as well as her father.

THUD THUD

Suddenly heavy footsteps of men echoed in Karenina and Kaiden's ears. They exchanged quick glances and nodded, "They have got us. Now, we can't run, brother."

"Don't worry, sister Cinderella. You have me," Kaiden chuckled, "I'll protect you as long as I'm not dead. You only need to follow my lead, can you do that?"

She nodded and gripped her sword tightly, her heart racing as she stood back-to-back with Kaiden. They were soon surrounded by a snarling pack of rogues and vampires, their eyes glowing red in hunger and blood thirst.

"Ready, little sister?" Kaiden whispered, his daggers ready to pierce through their skins.

Karenina nodded, her ponytail bouncing behind her. "Born ready, brother."

The rogues and vampires charged, their fangs bared. Karenina and Kaiden swung their sword and daggers in perfect sync, their blades slicing through the air. Karenina's sword clashed with a rogue's, the impact vibrating upto her arm.

Kaiden yelled, his daggers flashing in the sunlight. "Sister, watch out!"

A vampire lunged at her, its fangs snapping close. She dodged, her sword slicing across the vampire's chest. The vampire dissipated into dust, but more appeared before them. They were like never-ending.

"We need to shift!" Kaiden shouted, his daggers slashing rogue's neck m

She nodded, gripping her heaving chest. She focused on her wolf, feeling the familiar surge of power. Her body began to shift, her limbs lengthening, her senses heightening.

Kaiden shifted beside her, but his wolf was different and ten times bigger than her's. He was like a sleek black beast and took Karenina a few seconds to realise that he was a Lycan shifter , not a werewolf.

"Let's go, tear them piece by piece, sister," he roared at top of his lungs, causing the birds to fly out in the air in fear.

"Yes, brother. I haven't tasted blood on my fangs for so long," she growled, gritting her teeth together.

Together, they charged into the fray, their jaws snapping, their claws tearing. The rogues and vampires didn't stand a chance.

In minutes, the battle was over. Karenina and Kaiden stood panting, their wolves victorious warriors. They shifted back into their human forms, grinning at each other.

"That was awesome!" Karenina exclaimed, her eyes sparkling in delight.

"You're a natural-born warrior, little sister," he chuckled, ruffling her hair. "But we should hurry up and hide ourselves. Boss of rogues and vampires must be coming for us. We cannot face them altogether."

"Oh... what if they find a hideout?"

"They'll not," he assured her, "and we will plan a strategy for taking down the bosses one by one secretly. Like before they would hunt us, we will hunt them down."

Karenina's fear faded away and a big smile spread across her face, "You are freaking amazing, brother." She showed thumbs up at him proudly.

She stayed beside Kaiden for two years. Learned many things from him, like hunting/assassinating your enemies, fighting skills, survival tactics, understanding dynamics of companionship and receiving brotherly affection from him.

She felt like Kaiden was there to accompany her throughout her training years. Otherwise why would a Lycan shifter bother to suffer in this wasteland. Lycan are naturally born bloodthirsty beasts, they don't need training to win against mere rogues and vampires.

"Sister, I found this parcel bag on the bank of the river," Kaiden, now 18 years old, arrived with a brown parcel bag.

"I think it must be from your pack."

Karenina, now 15 years old, gets up and tears open the bag with her claws, and finds clothes, other first-aid necessary things and a letter from her mother.

"Well, your mother is very considerate of you. She has sent enough clothes and medicines for you in these two years whereas I received only one parcel from my pack. LoL!"

"Didn't you say you have an elder brother who dotes on you?" She taunted him in sarcasm, "didn't he send you anything?"

"Big brother is probably busy. He has responsibilities in the pack."

"Sigh! I'm not so understanding like you," she smirked as if it was something to be proud of.
