Chapter 1241: From The Frying Pan...
"Man... I just HAD to say something about this place didn't I?"
Jahi rolled to the safe spot beside me and gave me a wry smile before grabbing her blade, covering the giant sword in a harsh radiance that only drew the ire of our two headed friend yet again.
She was attempting to unravel some of her nerves with that little quip, and while it would have normally worked now was certainly not one of those times where comedy could make me feel a bit better, especially not after I had watched that two headed tiger casually regrow one of its head after it had been blown to pieces.
The moment it had roared at us and wrenched both of its maw's wide open to attempt to blast us to pieces with those bluish flames Lilith had instantly hurled a sphere of compressed air straight into it's gullet, surprising the monster and causing the blue flame to explode prematurely.
What should have been one hell of an opening in this encounter turned into a horrifying revelation as the monster simply roared at us and revealed an insane regeneration factor that drained me of confidence going forwards, but there was no turning back now.
We had to fight, and so Draka and I lowered the barrier now that we were out of the insane windstorm and were instead presented with a monster that utilized flames, which would likely punch through the ice and burn us to a crisp if we tried to block it.
Protecting the carriage was still a necessity, but Anput instantly buried it beneath multiple layers of rock before pushing it into the ground while Lady Fenyras lunged at the monster to distract it, her blades clanging off of its fur in a rather surprising twist.
After the carriage was buried and our barrier was dropped, we all split up and watched as the flesh around the burnt neck began to bubble and regrow, the tiger sprouting a fresh head that let out an enraged roar while glaring at the Demoness responsible.
That was how we got to the here and now, where we were running around and trying to figure out what made this thing so resilient and trying to come up with ways to stop it from regenerating after every attack.
"Think this thing tastes good? Never had tiger before..."
I peeked at the silver furred monster that was bathing the white sands and purple underbrush in blue flames and continued to gather the mana around us to replenish my Core, the potions I had just downed rejuvenating me somewhat and ridding me of the constant pain in my arms.
"No idea, but let's focus on killing it first, alright?"
"Probably tastes pretty good~! And I bet the fur is super~ soft when it's not being coated in all that mana..."
She just kept rambling on before winking at me as she noticed that Mom was rushing out, the older blue skinned Demoness stabbing her flaming blade at the tiger and managing to pierce through its defenses just enough to distract it again. Experience tales at empire
Lady Fenyras and Jahi joined her in the close combat while Lilith and Leone hurled spells at it, leaving Anput, Draka and I to figure something out, though that became the Dragonkin and I using these seconds to recuperate and study the monster while Anput acted as a guard, lingering between us and them.
My head still ached and my arms had grown heavier, but the effects of the various potions I had mixed around in my gut like a cocktail were beginning to prove their worth as they rejuvenated me slowly but surely, allowing me to resume shaping magic even as the pain flared up again.
It wasn't as bad as before, so I was able to push through and begin forming heavy, tapered lances that should penetrate the tiger's fur, the attack from Mom proving that the defenses of the monster were penetrable.
As it loosed another roar followed by a gout of blue flame in an attempt to burn the three melee fighters into a crisp, one of its heads snapped up to face towards me as it sensed the magic gathering around me, only to fail to unleash an attack since an earthen spike slammed its jaw shut.
The rock crumbled upon contact with the monster's fur and jaw, but it gave me the seconds I needed to sharpen my lance even more before it became shrouded in a gale, enhancing it's penetrative power even more before I hurled it forwards.
A whistle emanated thanks to its departure from my hand, and it made contact with the monster not even a second later, the tapered ice brushing past each strand of fur to find the blue flesh beneath.
Blood gushed from the wound the moment the lance sunk into the tiger's body, and it tried to let out another roar only for a frigid blast of wind to smack across one of its faces, freezing its maw shut and making it easy for the rest of the group to start whittling down it's defenses.
Impaling it with that lance caused it to stumble backwards, halting its momentum and making it easier for everyone else to dash forwards and begin cutting it down, their blades slicing through the fur and carving a patchwork of gashes in its flesh.
The blood that poured out of those wounds pooled around the tigers feet, and while it tried to raise those massive paws to swipe at its attackers all it managed to do was off balance itself even more after both Mom and Lady Fenyras slammed into its chest.
As soon as it fell onto its back its fate was sealed, the two strong warriors plunging their blades through its throats and unleashing their mana in droves as they burnt the monster from the inside out, and soon Jahi joined them as she too stabbed at it repeatedly, allowing her Light to wreak havoc as it constantly spilled out of the monster's body, showing off the damage it had dealt.
