Chapter 9: Chapter 9 – The First Pot-kage, Shimura Danzo
As soon as it happened, every single student in the classroom turned their heads toward the commotion.
Itou Hirofumi glanced around.
Holy hell...
Was that the Third Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen?!
His dad and grandfather were here too...
And that man over there—wasn't he the infamous First Pot-kage of the Leaf Village, the fifth-and-a-half Hokage, Shimura Danzo?!
Why the hell is that sinister old geezer here too?!
"Hey! Hello, everyone!!! What's with the crowd, huh?"
Of course, Itou Hirofumi had already mentally prepared himself. Disappearing mysteriously in the middle of class would obviously stir up a major uproar.
And in doing so, he might end up drawing the attention of people who were better left ignorant.
Sure, he now had Uchiha Madara as his summoned beast—but Madara wasn't exactly obedient. He listened, not followed.
At this point, there was no way Hirofumi could order Madara around.
Let alone having the former Shura of the Shinobi World become his personal enforcer... At best, he might step in to save him in a life-or-death situation.
After all, if Hirofumi died, Madara would return to that soul-flame state. This half-living form wasn't much different from resurrection.
So back in the Netherworld, Hirofumi had already made a decision.
He would never mention the system, and the whole "reincarnation from the underworld" thing would remain a secret. All he had to do was play dumb.
He'd say he was pulled into a mysterious space... remembered nothing... and then poof, came back.
They couldn't prove otherwise anyway.
As soon as he finished speaking, his grandfather, Itou Taiga, rushed up and hugged him tight.
"My dear grandson!!! You scared your grandpa half to death!!! I'm too old for this kind of shock! I'll agree to anything you want in the future, just promise me—you can't vanish like that ever again!!!"
His father, Itou Aoyama, also let out a long breath of relief.
If his son had truly disappeared... how could he ever explain it to his wife? He was just glad the boy was back. That was all that mattered.
Neither of them cared one bit about whether Hirofumi had experienced some kind of reverse summoning. As long as he was safe, nothing else mattered.
Meanwhile, Sarutobi Hiruzen held back his questions out of respect, observing the emotional reunion quietly.
He could understand. If his own grandson had suddenly vanished, he'd have been a wreck too.
But Danzo... Danzo didn't give a damn.
With a cane in hand, he hobbled directly in front of Hirofumi.
"Itou Hirofumi!
I am Shimura Danzo, elder of the Leaf Village!
Now explain what just happened!
Why did you vanish, and what did you experience while you were gone?!"
Hirofumi quickly patted his grandpa's shoulder—his snot was getting dangerously close.
"Gramps! I'm fine! No need to worry!"
"ITOU HIROFUMI! I'M SPEAKING TO YOU!!!" Danzo barked again.
Sarutobi Hiruzen frowned ever so slightly.
"Danzo! The child just returned. Don't push too hard."
"Hmph! Fine."
Hirofumi reassured his grandfather, then nodded to his father to show he was okay.
His father nodded back.
"Lord Hokage!"
Hirofumi stepped in front of Sarutobi Hiruzen—completely ignoring Shimura Danzo.
Hiruzen, inwardly, couldn't help but feel pleased.
What a respectful, sensible boy.
"Itou Hirofumi, was it? What a good child you are.
Your grandfather was once one of my loyal subordinates. So there's no need to be so formal. You can call me Grandpa Hokage, or Hokage-Grandpa, whichever you like."
Hirofumi put on a bright, childlike smile.
His family was loyal to the core, and his youthful appearance made him seem even more innocent.
"Really?! Hokage-Grandpa?!"
"Haha... Of course!"
Hiruzen was, undeniably, a masterful politician.
If Hirofumi hadn't been a transmigrator, this brief exchange would have been more than enough to win over his loyalty.
And more importantly, he'd earned favor from the Itou clan. By calling Itou Taiga an old subordinate and treating Hirofumi like a grandson, he had essentially adopted them into his inner circle.
Danzo, meanwhile, was furious that he was being ignored.
"Well then... Hirofumi, can you tell Grandpa Hokage what exactly happened just now? Everyone here is quite curious."
Hirofumi scratched his head and tilted it slightly in confusion.
"Um... Hokage-Grandpa, honestly, I don't really know what happened either.
Iruka-sensei was teaching us about summoning—how to form the hand seals and the theory behind it.
I tried following along and gave it a shot...
And then I just appeared in this mysterious space out of nowhere!
I have no idea what that place even was!"
Hiruzen narrowed his eyes.
A reverse summoning technique?
And the space he described—could it be one of the Three Great Sanctuaries?!
"Did you encounter any strange creatures?"
"Well... no! It was totally empty. I didn't see anything. I just walked around a bit... then suddenly, I was back!"
Hiruzen frowned again.
That didn't add up.
When Jiraiya had been summoned to Mount Myoboku, he met the toads right away. That was how he started learning Senjutsu.
If Hirofumi had truly gone to a Great Sanctuary, how could he not have met anything?
Was it not a sanctuary at all?
Or... had he not been acknowledged?
Or worse—was the kid hiding something?
