My System is Too Overpowered

Chapter 2: Ma Jeong (2)

The atmosphere froze.

A chilling silence swept across the village as the Wolf King slowly turned his head toward the voice. His golden eyes burned with killing intent, locking onto the figure standing on the mountain path.

Ma Jeong.

The old man stood tall, leaning casually on his cane, an arrogant smirk playing on his lips.

"What did you call me?" the Wolf King growled, his voice low and dangerous.

Ma Jeong shrugged, his expression calm.

"A dumb idiot. What else should I call a dumb person?"

Silence.

For a moment, everything was still. The wind stopped. The villagers held their breath.

Then—

"You bastard!"

The Wolf King roared in fury. With a burst of power, he lunged toward Ma Jeong, claws outstretched and aura flaring.

The ground trembled. The sky shook.

The villagers screamed.

But just then—

[Ding! An early-stage Fusion Realm enemy has been detected. Activating ability: 'Stronger Against Strong.' Host has gained Mid-Stage Fusion Realm cultivation.]

The mechanical voice echoed in Ma Jeong's mind.

In the next instant—

Boom!

A powerful aura exploded from Ma Jeong's body.

The shockwave swept across the mountainside, shaking the earth and scattering clouds. The villagers stared in shock as a blinding light surrounded him.

His frail figure straightened. The wrinkles on his face faded. Age spots vanished. His skin turned smooth and fair.

His aged features transformed rapidly, settling into the sharp, striking face of a young man.

His red eyes glowed with power, burning like twin flames.

His white hair darkened, turning black as midnight, flowing gracefully down to his waist.

The cane in his hand cracked the ground beneath him with a single tap.

The villagers stared, wide-eyed.

"W-Who is that…?" someone whispered.

Ye Liang and the elders stood frozen, unable to believe their eyes.

The Wolf King, still charging, slowed mid-air, his expression twisting in confusion and disbelief.

The old man they had seen just moments ago was gone. In his place stood a young man with sharp features and a confident gaze.

"W-What…?"

The Wolf King muttered in disbelief. His face twisted in shock as he felt the pressure of Ma Jeong's aura.

Stronger than mine…

"Y-You… you're a Fusion Realm expert?" the Wolf King stammered, stepping back.

Ma Jeong clenched his fists, feeling the energy surging inside him.

"I have reached the Fusion Realm… again."

For a moment, his eyes softened. Memories of the hardships he had faced flashed through his mind—the pain, the humiliation, the years of struggle.

I'm back.

Almost tearful, Ma Jeong wiped at his face, though no tears were there.

His gaze then fell on the Wolf King.

Their eyes met.

The Wolf King froze. Fear crept into his golden eyes.

Then, without a word—

Whoosh!

He turned and ran.

Full speed.

"My specialty lies in speed, not strength," the Wolf King thought, rushing through the air like a streak of blue light. "Even if he's stronger than me, he won't be able to catch me!"

The villagers watched in shock as the mighty Wolf King—who had come threatening destruction—fled without a fight.

Ma Jeong stood tall on the mountainside, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.

"Running already?" he murmured.

His red eyes gleamed with amusement.

"The fun has just started."

The moment Ma Jeong spoke, his figure vanished.

Whoosh!

In the blink of an eye, he appeared right behind the fleeing Wolf King.

"H-How?!"

The Wolf King's eyes widened in shock. He had never imagined Ma Jeong could move this fast. His speed was terrifying—faster than the eye could follow.

"Hey," Ma Jeong's calm voice echoed behind him, cold and steady. "Since you've come, don't think about leaving."

Before the Wolf King could react, Ma Jeong's fist shot forward.

Boom!

The fist glowed with boundless power, radiating energy that seemed to shake the very air.

Crash!

The blow landed squarely on the Wolf King's back.

The earth trembled violently.

A shockwave blasted through the sky, scattering clouds and rattling the mountains.

Dust exploded into the air, covering the battlefield.

When the dust finally settled—

A deep pit had formed in the ground.

At its centre lay the Wolf King—bloodied, broken, and lifeless.

The mighty being, who once terrified the entire village, was defeated with a single strike.

Ma Jeong floated above the crater, his black hair swaying in the wind and his red eyes glowing with calm dominance.

"Too slow," he muttered, lowering his fist.

The village below was silent.

No one could believe what they had just witnessed.

Ye Liang slowly approached Ma Jeong, his expression filled with respect. He cupped his fists and bowed slightly.

"We owe you our lives, Senior," Ye Liang said, his voice sincere.

Ma Jeong glanced at him but said nothing.

Just then, the third village elder, a scruffy middle-aged man with a rough appearance, stepped forward.

"Indeed, sir. We had no idea such an esteemed expert was living among us."

Before Ma Jeong could respond, the sixth village elder spoke up. She had a voluptuous figure, her mature charm making her stand out among the elders. Her tone was filled with admiration.

"You thick-headed fool, what do you know? Senior Ma is clearly a low-key expert. He didn't want to make his presence known and has been silently protecting our village all this time."

The other elders quickly nodded in agreement.

"So it turns out we were truly short-sighted," one of them sighed.

Ma Jeong looked at the group of elders, all singing his praises with such conviction.

A faint smirk tugged at his lips.

"Wow, you all sure have vivid imaginations," Ma Jeong muttered inwardly.

If only they knew the truth.

Just then, a panicked voice echoed from the distance.

"Reporting to the Village Leader! Bad news!"

A villager rushed into the crowd, his face pale, his body trembling.

Ye Liang's expression darkened. "Speak! What happened?" he demanded.

The villager fell to his knees, tears welling in his eyes.

"Wind Cloud Village… they suddenly launched an attack!" he cried. "They've occupied our lands and taken our resources. Our disciples fought to the death to stop them, but… they couldn't hold them back. Almost all of them were wiped out!"

Gasps filled the air.

Cries of sorrow and despair echoed throughout the village.

Ye Liang's face turned red with rage. His fists clenched tightly.

"How dare they…" he growled. "Those cowards! They waited for us to be weak after the Wolf King's attack!"

Ma Jeong narrowed his eyes, his expression cold and thoughtful.

Wind Cloud Village…

The name stirred old memories. He remembered that it was one of the nine villages in this domain. More importantly, it was backed by the North Star Sect—one of the four major sects in the region.

The same sect I was once a disciple of.

Ma Jeong's eyes gleamed.

There had been small conflicts between the villages in the past, but nothing serious. It had always been under control. But now? Launching such a large-scale attack right after the Wolf King's invasion?

They're trying to take advantage of the chaos.

Their intentions couldn't be clearer.

Suddenly—

[Ding! Triggered sign-in task. Please complete the sign-in at Wind Cloud Village to receive unimaginable rewards!]

The familiar mechanical voice echoed in Ma Jeong's mind.

A faint smile crept onto his lips.

"Unimaginable rewards, huh?" he muttered under his breath. "Looks like it's time for a little visit."

"The Wind Cloud Village has gone too far! Everyone, follow me—we'll reclaim back our land and resources!"

Ye Liang's voice boomed with determination as he turned to rally the villagers.

But then, he paused and looked toward Ma Jeong, hesitation flickering in his eyes. He lowered his voice, speaking carefully, "Senior Ma… what do you think?"

In the world of cultivation, the strong held power. Strength was everything.

Right now, there was no question—Ma Jeong was the strongest person in the entire village. Even as the village leader, Ye Liang knew he had to respect Ma Jeong's opinion.

Ma Jeong glanced at him and waved his hand lazily.

"Yeah, you all go ahead and do your thing. I'll just charge into Wind Cloud Village myself."

His tone was casual, almost bored, as if the whole situation didn't concern him.

But his words carried weight.

With his passive ability 'Stronger Against Strong', Ma Jeong had every right to speak so confidently. No matter how powerful his opponents were, he would always stand a tier above them.

Ye Liang and the elders stared at him, their filled with admiration

Charge in alone?

For Ma Jeong, it wasn't arrogance—just the simple truth.

"Senior Ma is truly powerful!" Ye Liang exclaimed, his face flushed with excitement.

The villagers, hearing his words, felt their confidence soar.

Soon after, a fleet of warships assembled, their sails fluttering in the wind. The ships gleamed under the sunlight, carrying warriors ready for battle.

With determination in their eyes, the fleet launched an attack toward the territories occupied by Wind Cloud Village.

The scale of the operation was grand—dozens of ships cutting through the sky, leaving trails of mana behind them.

The villagers were in high spirits.

After all, they had the backing of an incredibly strong master.
