My Wife, The Ice Queen President

Chapter 283 - 0283 Phoenix_1

Chapter 283: Chapter 0283 Phoenix_1

“You rest first, I’m going to take a shower before sleeping,”

After hustling for a whole day, Phoenix was drenched in sweat and felt uncomfortable sleeping without a shower, so she decided to bathe before heading to bed.

Ye Xiong, on the other hand, didn’t care and fell onto the bed, quickly drifting into deep sleep.

Phoenix walked into the bathroom and began to undress, leaving herself bare in moments.

Gazing at the reflection of her flawless white jade body in the mirror, Phoenix momentarily became lost in thought.

At twenty-six, it was the prime of a woman’s life, yet she dedicated everything to her country without a single thought for her own marriage.

At twenty, she joined Dragon Group and had been running around on various missions ever since; six years had slipped by unnoticed.

Twenty-six was an awkward age for a woman, as most women were usually discussing marriage.

Even if not married at this age, one could date for a couple of years, and by twenty-eight, marriage would be on the cards. Beyond twenty-eight, you begin to enter the realm of ‘leftover women.’

Phoenix turned on the shower, letting the cold water cascade over her body, streaming down from her neck.

It was not that she was overconfident, but as the number one beauty in the Dragon Group, she was confident that she measured up to any of those so-called female stars out there in every aspect.

Due to rigorous training, not an ounce of extra flesh was on her body.

Regrettably, in just a few more years, she too would step into the ranks of older women.

Squeezing out some shower gel, she gently massaged it over her body, her mind drifting back to the scene at the airport, sleeping on Ye Xiong’s shoulder.

There was a time when she also yearned for that kind of life.

To have a boyfriend, travel everywhere, rest on her boyfriend’s shoulder when tired, get him to fetch food when hungry, have him buy water when thirsty!

What a leisurely life that would be.

Free from worries, not having to think too hard, not living life on edge, not always tense and ready for battle.

To be able to sleep until naturally waking up.

Such thoughts surfaced briefly in her mind, only to be suppressed immediately.

In this world, there must always be those who sacrifice; if everyone had her fleeting thoughts, there would be no National Security Bureau, no Dragon Group.

Having chosen this path, she must walk it until the end, and if she should live to see retirement, there would still be time to enjoy then.

Phoenix quickly rinsed off and got ready to go out and sleep soundly to face the continued fight ahead.

Drying off, she was about to grab her underwear to put it on when disaster struck.

The bra hanging on the wall, for some reason, had fallen to the floor and was soaking wet.

Bad luck!

Without a change of clothes and a wet bra that couldn’t be worn, Phoenix reluctantly decided not to put it on, wearing only her outer clothes for now.

Fortunately, she was accustomed to wearing black, so even without an undergarment, a casual glance wouldn’t immediately reveal anything.

Stepping out of the bathroom, Phoenix found that Ye Xiong was already deep asleep on the bed.

This guy really didn’t seem to see her as a woman; what man sharing a room with a beauty would sleep so soundly?

But she soon let it go—as a special agent, wasn’t this normal?

What was wrong with her today, her thoughts scattering so wildly?

As she lay down on the bed, Phoenix drifted off to sleep without realizing it.

When she woke up, Ye Xiong was no longer in the room.

Phoenix checked the time and saw she’d slept for almost three hours.

“Where are you?” Phoenix called to ask.

“Buying some stuff, I’ll be back soon,” Ye Xiong replied.

A few minutes later, Ye Xiong returned, carrying a bag in his hand and tossing it in front of her.

“What’s this?”

Phoenix opened it and found that the bag contained a brand-new bra, black in color and exactly the same size as the one she wore.

Instantly, her face flushed red.

“I went into the bathroom, saw yours hanging there, all damp and unwearable. While you were still asleep, I went out to buy another one for you. You can’t just not wear one, can you?” Ye Xiong said.

Phoenix twitched the corner of her mouth, wanting to say something but ultimately held back.

“Try it on to see if it fits. This thing wasn’t cheap.”

Ye Xiong’s gaze instinctively fell on her chest, as if guessing whether his purchase was correct.

“Pervert!”

Phoenix gave him a glance and walked into the bathroom to change. She quickly came back out.

“Does it fit?” Ye Xiong asked.

“It’ll do,” Phoenix replied.

“Let me see…”

The words had barely left Ye Xiong’s mouth when he realized that was inappropriate. Even if it didn’t fit, he couldn’t just look!

“You lecher,” Phoenix scolded.

“Hey, this is the first time in my life that I’ve bought underwear for a woman, and instead of thanking me, you’re calling me a lecher. I haven’t ogled you, have I?” Ye Xiong said with a laugh.

“A leopard can’t change its spots. I thought you had changed, but now your true colors are showing again,” Phoenix scolded.

Bantering like this, they left the hotel and went to catch a ride.

By the time they returned to Jiangnan City, it was almost evening.

“Why don’t you come and stay at my place? There’s plenty of room and Vermilion Bird and Chen Xiao are there too; we can look after each other.” As they got out of the car, Ye Xiong suggested.

“I’m afraid your wife might get jealous and cause trouble. It’s better not to.”

“There’s nothing between us; what’s there to be afraid of…” Ye Xiong laughed.

“Go home early and keep your wife company; you’ve been away on a trip for half a month. Be careful, or someone might make you wear a green hat,” Phoenix said, then walked away without looking back.

“Is that any way to talk to someone?” Ye Xiong sweated buckets.

Back in Jiangnan, Ye Xiong felt a lot more at ease; he wasn’t as oppressed as he was while outside.

Unknowingly, he had come to think of this place as his real home.

He didn’t know whether his wife was at home. Having not seen her for so long, he reckoned she must be missing him too.

Ye Xiong was about to call her when he suddenly decided to give her a surprise instead.

He phoned the office to inquire and learned that Yang Xinyi was still at work and hadn’t gone home yet, so he hailed a cab and headed for Xinyi Group.

Half an hour later, Ye Xiong arrived at Xinyi Group.

Outside the company’s entrance, there was a globally limited edition sports car worth over ten million parked. By the car stood a twenty-five or twenty-six-year-old guy, dressed all in white, with every strand of his hair standing on end, looking just like a prince on a white horse.

In front of the man, tens of thousands of flowers were arranged into a heart-shaped sea, looking imposing yet filled with romance.

All those flowers must have cost at least a few hundred thousand!

This guy was really going all out to woo someone!

Ye Xiong wondered which beauty had driven this guy so crazy.

His gaze fell upon the heart-shaped flower arrangement, and he looked closely.

There it was written: “Yang Xinyi, I love you,” six big characters.

His face turned dark in an instant!

Which blind bastard dared to hit on his wife?

Ye Xiong really wanted to go over there, knock the guy’s teeth out, and let him learn why roses are so red.

But then again, the guy was pursuing his wife openly and hadn’t used any dirty tricks. Maybe he didn’t know she was married!
