Chapter 715: Perception of Danger
The surroundings here were not only free of the terrifying aura from outside but the true energy within was also incredibly powerful.
As Gu Simu looked around at the scattered golden lights, a faint smile appeared on her face, and she quickly stepped forward.
Each of these golden lights contained true energy that she could absorb, converting it into her own power.
Her movements were swift, and within moments, four to five dozen strands of energy had gathered within her body.
After assimilating the power, she smiled again, her gaze directly shifting toward Zhongren.
"Uncle Zhongren, this true energy is incredibly pure. Do you have any treasures that could take this back?"
Seeing her beaming face, Zhongren smiled faintly. He activated the Qimen Dunjia, and the sword light surrounding them immediately converged into his hands. However, he did not transfer this power to Gu Simu. With Qimen Dunjia sealed, he turned to Gu Simu and, with an even expression, said, "This energy is of no real use to you. Follow me."
Seeing his mysterious expression, Gu Simu didn't say much. She quickly followed.
The space in front of them tore apart, and in a single leap, the two disappeared. Before long, they reached the bottom of the abyss.
In the distance stood a massive altar, shrouded in dark mist and blood-red light, with countless strands of true energy enveloping it.
Upon seeing this, Zhongren's face revealed a thoughtful smile as he activated the Qimen Dunjia again.
After a moment, he nodded slightly with a calm expression, storing the Qimen Dunjia once more, and quickly began to move toward the altar.
As he had predicted, this was a crucial item. Only by obtaining it could they find the final piece of what they were searching for.
However, just as Zhongren was about to move forward, Gu Simu suddenly appeared serious.
"Don't go, there's danger!"
Gu Simu had always been sensitive to danger, and she could feel an extremely dangerous aura here. If they approached, there might be unforeseen consequences.
It was only a step away, but Zhongren sensed a sense of unease creeping into his heart.
Upon hearing her warning, Zhongren looked at her in confusion, a frown forming on his face. He had just made his calculations and found no danger. Could his calculations have been wrong?
As he pondered in confusion, Gu Simu suddenly stepped forward, summoning the Hammer of Evergreen Pine and positioned herself protectively in front of Zhongren.
True energy surged around her, enveloping her body.
"Who's there? Show yourself!" Gu Simu's voice was ice-cold, and her eyes were filled with killing intent. As she spoke, four or five shadows suddenly flashed out of the darkness.
As soon as these figures appeared, the surrounding area was engulfed by a suffocating, deathly aura, and the faces of these figures bore mocking smirks.
"Not bad, little girl. Your perception is impressive to notice us!" one of them sneered.
Zhongren's brow furrowed deeply, and a glint of cold light appeared in his eyes. This truly had not been within his expectations.
His icy gaze swept over them, and his internal energy surged forth.
"Qimen Dunjia, activate!"
His face remained frosty, and his eyes were filled with killing intent. Thousands of golden sword images immediately burst from his back.
"Girl, leave these guys to me. You get out of here!"
The enemies in front of them were no weaklings. Gu Simu's intervention might lead to unexpected problems, and Zhongren didn't want her to get hurt.
However, Gu Simu didn't retreat an inch. A disdainful smile appeared on her face.
"Uncle Zhongren, I can handle it. Father always held me back, but today I can finally show my true strength!"
Without giving Zhongren a chance to respond, she shifted her energy upwards.
The power within her surged fully, and in a single step, she was right in front of the enemy. The Hammer of Evergreen Pine in her hand struck down with tremendous force.
Back at Lanyan Royal School, Gu Lan had been frowning ever since he returned, his face filled with worry.
Leaving Gu Simu out there like this had made him uneasy. Zhongren's calculations might have been accurate, but he had an unsettling feeling that trouble was looming.
After thinking for a while, a cold gleam flashed in his eyes. He waved his hand, and a screen appeared in front of him, showing Gu Simu and Zhongren.
Gu Lan's expression, already serious, froze as he saw the scene unfold.
Gu Simu was indeed in danger, and the ones causing trouble were from the Dark Clan.
How could he tolerate this? No wonder Zhongren had agreed earlier—it seemed like there had already been strong forces prepared for this.
The enemies in front of Gu Simu were no weaklings. While Gu Simu could hold her own, Gu Lan couldn't just stand by and watch her get injured.
His expression darkened as true energy surged around him. A golden light shot from his hand.
He could not just watch Gu Simu be bullied by these guys. The golden light shot out, speeding towards her.
Meanwhile, Gu Simu, who had been wielding the Hammer of Evergreen Pine, froze for a moment.
A smile appeared on her face, and in that instant, the power within the Hammer of Evergreen Pine surged exponentially. Looking up toward the sky, she faintly smiled.
"Thank you, Father!"
The increase in power on the Hammer of Evergreen Pine was unmistakable—it was clearly Gu Lan who was assisting her. No one else could have the power to do this.
She quickly concealed her smile, focusing on the enemies in front of her, her face now filled with disdain.
"I'll give you a chance. Leave now, and you might still survive. Otherwise, don't blame me for being ruthless!"
The Dark Clan members sneered at her words. They were holding their ground well against Gu Simu, and this fight was far from over.
"You little girl. You're too arrogant for someone like you!" one of them retorted.
The group of enemies had already activated their energies, their auras surging as they prepared for the battle.
They had no intention of leaving, and that suited Gu Simu just fine.
Having said what needed to be said, it was time to act. The Hammer of Evergreen Pine grew larger, its golden light intensifying as it crashed downward, causing a tremendous explosion.
The surrounding space shook violently.
At first, the Dark Clan members were unconcerned. They wore expressions of disdain, confident that they would not be overpowered.
But after bracing against the blow, they immediately regretted it. The power from the hammer was overwhelming, and they were struggling to breathe under its force.
"Boom!"
A deafening sound rang out, and the enemies were thrown back hundreds of feet, their energy nearly depleted.
Gu Simu swung the Hammer of Evergreen Pine again, a cold smile on her face.
She had already told them to leave, but they had insisted on standing their ground.
The Dark Clan members now found themselves in a dire situation, eyes filled with deep apprehension. They had never expected Gu Simu to be this strong. They had thought their combined efforts would overpower her, but now they were paying the price.
"Do you still want to continue fighting?" she asked, her eyes filled with disdain, a mocking smile on her face.
Hearing her words, the Dark Clan members' eyes grew dim. They had no choice left but to retreat.
With a final glance at her, they turned and fled, disappearing into the distance.
