Chapter 23: the Portal part 2
The Shadow Giant attacked.
Has immediately activated his Light Shield.
He dashed forward, ducked beneath the giant's swinging arm, and leapt high into the air. But the giant reacted faster than expected—its massive hand crashed down onto the shield.
CRACK!
The Light Shield shattered into glowing fragments.
But Has was already ready with his next move.
"Light Orbs!"
Four radiant spheres of pure light formed around him and hovered in the air.
"Hold him—now!" shouted Has.
Giel growled, focused all his strength, and forced both arms upward. A shimmering blue aura surged from his body—he grabbed the giant's leg and lifted it slightly off the ground. The creature froze, even if only for a second.
All four Light Orbs shot forward—
Zzzzt
Zzzzt
Zzzzt
Zzzzt
Each orb blasted into the giant's chest, piercing holes through its dark mass. The monster roared, stumbling backward.
Then Glus stepped forward.
"Final Sleep… is mine to deliver!" he bellowed.
He leapt high—spinning midair—and slammed his gauntlet-covered fist straight into the giant's face.
The impact echoed like thunder.
The shadow giant cracked. Split. Then—
Boom…
It turned into black dust and scattered into the wind.
All was silent.
"…We did it," said Glus, exhaling.
He reached over his shoulder, pulled out his battle axe, and rested it on his shoulder.
"We move forward."
The group nodded. Tired, but determined.
Ahead of them stood their next goal:
The Tower.
It loomed in the distance, surrounded by a dark, withered forest. The group pushed on. They had to pass through the Deadwood, a cursed place where life had long vanished.
As they entered, the trees stood like skeletons. No wind. No birds. Just silence.
Suddenly, a lone shadow appeared on the road.
It smiled. "I've been waiting for you…"
But before anyone could act, the figure dissolved into smoke.
"…What was that?" asked Lasa.
No answer. Just the eerie wind picking up slightly.
They continued through the forest. Still no enemies. No traps. Just the silence of a land long dead.
Then—
Snap.
Giel stepped on a branch.
He jumped. "AAAHHHH!"
Kad burst out laughing. "It's just a stick, Giel."
Everyone laughed. Even Mike managed a smile.
But Glus didn't.
"Quiet," he said. "Focus up. We're almost at the base of the tower."
They had arrived after a few minutes.
Right at the beginning there was a message:
"Meet me in the 10th room."
It was a tower with several staircases leading upward.
In each room, there were about 20 shadow creatures.
They fought their way through.
Kad now had a broken arm.
Lasa had no magic left – none at all.
They kept fighting until they reached the 10th room.
There was a gate – with golden edges and everything else around it was black.
It simply opened on its own.
Then – a spear rushed past Mike's eyes, heading straight toward Giel.
"GIELLLL!"
