Chapter 116: Chapter 116

"Alright."

Feeling the intense hunger radiating from the Grudge Silk, Eren, as a responsible master, naturally wouldn't let it down.

So...

Without hesitation, he gave the Grudge Silk a stern "lesson." Then, seizing the opportunity, he "sliced" off Iron Monger's head and "dug" out the mysterious azure energy core from its chest.

After fiddling with the mysterious glowing blue orb in his hand for a while, Eren, under the sulking and aggrieved aura of the Grudge Silk, casually tossed the orb to it.

"No! You can't do that!"

At this moment, the decapitated head of Obadiah, as if sensing something, suddenly regained consciousness and let out a terrified scream directed at Eren.

"Oh?"

Surprised that Obadiah could still speak with just his mechanical head remaining, Eren's lips curved into a seemingly kind smile.

The next moment...

Right before Obadiah's eyes, Eren placed the metal head and the energy core beside the Grudge Silk.

Then, he ordered, "Now... you can eat."

The Grudge Silk, receiving Eren's permission, immediately extended two silver threads that plunged fiercely into the azure energy orb and the metal head.

The instant it made contact, arcs of ghostly blue lightning erupted from the core and the head, attempting to scorch the inconspicuous silver threads to ashes.

Unfortunately for them...

The electricity not only failed to harm the Grudge Silk but seemed to provoke it further, igniting an even more voracious devouring force.

Sssslurp!

With a grotesque sucking sound, the red glow in the head and the azure light from the orb dimmed rapidly.

Meanwhile, the Grudge Silk, nourished by this rich feast, began to grow exponentially.

Five meters.

Ten meters.

Twenty meters.

...

"Crack!"

In just two seconds, the head of Iron Monger and the azure orb shattered into fragments.

The Grudge Silk's length, in turn, surged to an impressive 54 meters.

"Mm. A 54-meter-long silver thread... Seems like there's potential for a lot of creative uses here."

...

Elsewhere...

As the Grudge Silk consumed Obadiah's soul and energy core, Eren—who had casually stolen an Aston Martin from Tony Stark's seaside villa and was on his way to New York—heard the sound of the Fate Balance notifying him.

Ding!

Host has killed the designated destiny antagonist, the anomalous mechanical lifeform "Iron Monger," prematurely ending Iron Man's fated battle and causing a ripple in destiny. 2,000 Fate Points successfully intercepted.

"Huh!"

So I can earn Fate Points from kills my clone makes, too? Now that's a pleasant surprise!

But what's the deal with Obadiah? What happened to him at the moment I killed him? How did he transform into an anomalous mechanical lifeform, 'Iron Monger'?

From the memories shared by the clone, the enhanced Iron Monger was far tougher than its original version. Without my clone's help, even Tony Stark with a fully powered arc reactor might not have been able to handle it.

Still, I didn't expect Obadiah's second death to net me another haul. In total, he's contributed 3,000 Fate Points to me.

Not bad at all! Truly one of the catalysts of the Marvel Universe's extraordinary rise.

What a pity, though...

This is probably the last time I'll be able to milk Fate Points from him. With his soul completely consumed by the Grudge Silk, there's no chance of him resurrecting to trouble me again.

At the same time...

Eren's clone, perfectly in sync with his thoughts, also received the information. Satisfied that Iron Monger was now well and truly dead, the clone picked up the now-useless heap of scrap metal and began searching for a vehicle.

Within seconds, the clown-faced Eren located an unlocked van, placed Iron Monger's head in the back seat, and drove off toward Hell's Kitchen while humming a cheerful tune.

Back in the present...

Not long after leaving the battlefield, Tony used J.A.R.V.I.S. to locate Pepper and quickly piloted the Mark II to reunite with her.

Seeing Pepper step safely out of her car, Tony let out a long sigh of relief.

"Thank goodness you're alright."

Pepper, seeing Tony unharmed, also breathed a sigh of relief. Earlier, when she'd learned from Eren that Tony had almost died at Obadiah's hands, she had been terrified.

Fortunately, Eren had intervened just in time.

Thinking of Eren, Pepper suddenly recalled the clown-masked figure who had seemed so familiar. She quickly asked, "Tony, did you take care of that giant mech? That's Obadiah's secret weapon from District 16. And when you arrived, did you see the man in the clown mask? I still haven't thanked him for saving me."

Tony's expression stiffened slightly at her words. With a forced smile, he replied, "That big guy's been taken care of. As for the clown-masked man... don't worry, he's fine."

"If you want to thank him, you should ask your nephew about him. That lunatic was someone your nephew brought in to save you."

Pepper's pupils shrank slightly. "That man was someone Eren sent?"

Tony nodded. "Exactly. That clown-masked guy has abilities far beyond what ordinary people can imagine—just like your nephew. I'm pretty sure they're part of the same... circle."

Recalling the state of Obadiah's mech when he arrived, Tony's expression grew serious.

"Pepper, that clown-masked guy is strong, but he's crazy—and dangerous. You should warn your nephew."
