Chapter 2606: God of Darkness (1)
In the deepest reaches of the Ancient Devil God Realm, within a fortress shrouded in perpetual darkness, Yao Huang arrived, his figure materializing from the void. His face was pale, his breath ragged, and his eyes burned with a mixture of frustration and disbelief. The battle at the World Tree had been a humiliating defeat, a setback he had not anticipated.
He had underestimated Yue Yun's power. Her mastery over the moonlight was far beyond what he had imagined. It was a force that could rival the Primordial Gods, a power that had pushed him to his limits and forced him to retreat.
"My lord, are you alright?" Mo Liang rushed to his side, his voice filled with concern. He had sensed the disturbance in the void, the chaotic energy fluctuations that signaled his master's return.
Yao Huang waved him off, his mind still reeling from the encounter. He needed time to compose himself, to analyze what had happened, and to plan his next move.
"I'm fine," he said, his voice strained. "Just... unexpected."
He took a deep breath, trying to calm the turmoil within him. He had failed to destroy the World Tree. Worse still, he had been forced to flee like a coward.
After a few moments of silence, Yao Huang finally spoke again, his voice regaining some of its composure. "Mo Xie," he said, his tone sharp. "Where is he? Has he returned with the Azure World?"
Mo Liang's expression shifted, a flicker of unease crossing his face. "My lord," he began hesitantly, "we have not heard from Mo Xie since he departed. I have tried to contact him, but... there has been no response."
Yao Huang's eyes narrowed, his gaze hardening. He had entrusted Mo Xie with a crucial task, the capture of the Azure World, a strategic move that would have given him a significant advantage over Yun Lintian.
"What do you mean, no response?" Yao Huang demanded, his voice rising. "He should have returned by now. The Azure World is not that far from here."
Mo Liang swallowed hard, sensing his master's growing anger. "I do not know, my lord. Perhaps there were... unforeseen complications?"
Yao Huang slammed his fist on a nearby table, the force of the impact shattering the stone surface. "Complications?" he roared. "Mo Xie is an Ancient Devil God Ancestor! What complications could he possibly face that would prevent him from completing such a simple task?"
He paced back and forth, his mind racing. Something was wrong. Terribly wrong. Mo Xie was not one to fail, and he was certainly not one to disappear without a trace.
"Send out a search party," Yao Huang commanded, his voice cold and hard. "Find Mo Xie. And bring me the Azure World. I want answers, and I want them now."
Mo Liang bowed deeply. "Yes, my lord. It shall be done."
As Mo Liang turned to leave, Yao Huang stopped him. "Wait," he said, his voice softer now, but no less intense. "There is something else. Something... unexpected happened at the World Tree."
He recounted the battle, the appearance of Yue Yun, her overwhelming power, and his forced retreat. He spoke of the moonlight, of its purity and strength, of its ability to counter his darkness.
Mo Liang listened intently, his eyes widening with each detail. He had never heard his master speak of such a defeat, of such a powerful adversary.
"This Yue Yun," Yao Huang said, his voice filled with anger. "She's Yun Lintian's daughter. It doesn't make sense that he has such a powerful daughter without us knowing."
"What should we do next, my lord?" Mo Liang asked attentively.
"Find Mo Xie first and we will talk about it." Yao Huang waved his hand.
"Yes, my lord," Mo Liang replied, bowing once more.
As Mo Liang left to carry out his orders, Yao Huang was left alone in the darkness, his mind consumed by a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions. The failure at the World Tree, the disappearance of Mo Xie, the emergence of Yue Yun - all of these events had thrown his plans into disarray.
He had underestimated his enemies, and now he was paying the price. But he was not defeated. Not yet. He would adapt, he would overcome, he would find a way to achieve his goals.
He was Yao Huang, the inheritor of the God of Darkness's power. He would not be denied!

Yun Lintian's eyes snapped open as he finally pinpointed Yao Huang's aura. It was faint, almost hidden within the chaotic energy of the Ancient Devil God Realm, but it was unmistakable. Yao Huang was here, and Yun Lintian was not about to let him escape.
Without hesitation, Yun Lintian shot forward, his body moving faster than light itself. The power of the God of Space surged through him, allowing him to traverse the void with ease. Stars blurred past him as he navigated the endless darkness, his senses locked onto Yao Huang's energy.
The journey was swift, but the tension in the air was palpable. Yun Lintian could feel the weight of the Ancient Devil God Realm pressing down on him, the chaotic energy of the void threatening to overwhelm him. But he pushed forward, his resolve unshakable.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Yun Lintian arrived at the edge of a massive, dark fortress. The structure loomed before him, its walls towering high into the sky, its presence ominous and foreboding. This was Yao Huang's hideout, the heart of the Ancient Devil God Realm.
Yun Lintian stood before the fortress, his expression calm but his eyes burning with determination. He could feel Yao Huang's presence within, the dark energy of the God of Darkness pulsing like a heartbeat.
Without hesitation, Yun Lintian stepped forward, his figure disappearing into the fortress.
Inside the chamber, Yao Huang suddenly opened his eyes as he felt it-a powerful, chaotic energy that seemed to pierce through the very fabric of the fortress. It was a presence he recognized all too well.
"Yun Lintian," Yao Huang muttered, his voice filled with both anger and disbelief. "How...?"
He got up and shouted. "Quickly stop him!"
Mo Han and Mo Qian, who had just returned with Yao Huang, quickly rushed over, preparing to protect Yao Huang.
At this moment, Yun Lintian stepped into the fortress, his figure cloaked in a faint, ethereal light that contrasted sharply with the oppressive darkness around him.
The air was thick with the stench of decay and the oppressive weight of dark energy, but Yun Lintian's presence cut through it like a blade. His eyes glowed with a cold, determined light, and the Heaven Piercing Sword in his hand hummed with power, its blade shimmering with
the God Mark of Light.
He came here to kill!
