Chapter 127 Back Home
As soon as Shiyu Uchiha left, he had no intention whatsoever of going to the Hokage Tower to see Hiruzen Sarutobi. Instead, he chose to put it off until tomorrow. After all, today had already been exhausting enough—he just wanted to return home and rest well.
In fact, during his last summoning of the ninken Saya, Shiyu Uchiha had already accurately informed everyone at home of his exact return time. However, he had told them not to come out and greet him, since after returning, he needed to visit Sakumo Hatake first, so exactly when he'd get back home was still up in the air.
Therefore, when Shiyu Uchiha had just arrived near the Uchiha Clan Compound, he immediately saw his elder sister Mikoto Uchiha and his betrothed Ling Uzumaki waiting for him there. Although slightly unexpected, but thinking about it, it made perfect sense. At the same time, a warm feeling welled up in his heart.
Without hesitation, Shiyu Uchiha walked forward and first said to Mikoto Uchiha, "Sister, have you two been waiting here long?"
Then, he turned to Ling Uzumaki and pulled her into his arms. Ling immediately turned red, looking as tender and alluring as a ripe apple.
She didn't pull away from Shiyu Uchiha's arms, instead silently savoring the warmth of the moment. After a while, she reluctantly let go and stepped back from him.
Seeing this scene, Mikoto Uchiha couldn't help but smile with satisfaction. She sincerely felt happy for her younger brother having found such a gentle and lovely fiancée.
Shiyu Uchiha spoke again, "Sister, didn't I tell everyone to wait at home? Why did you come out?"
Smiling, Mikoto Uchiha teased, "Of course it's because Ling missed you, so we came out. I naturally had to accompany her."
Ling Uzumaki's face, which hadn't yet returned to normal, flushed again, muttering, "Sister Mikoto, why would you say that? You didn't object either." Looking at Ling Uzumaki's blushing face, Shiyu Uchiha found her utterly adorable, and couldn't help but smile.
After sharing a few more jokes, Shiyu Uchiha took both of their hands and walked toward home. Along the way, he greeted several members of the Uchiha Clan and met an old childhood friend. However, back then Shiyu Uchiha had just reincarnated into this world and hadn't interacted much with them. Later, after entering the Ninja Academy, their interactions became even fewer, so they were merely ordinary friends.
Accompanied by Mikoto Uchiha and Ling Uzumaki, as Shiyu Uchiha approached the doorstep, he spotted a familiar figure—Uchiha Shizhi. Beside her stood Shisui Uchiha, who was staying with the family. This little guy was already nearly two years old, and at first glance, appeared extremely clever.
As soon as he entered the house, Shiyu Uchiha immediately bowed respectfully to Uchiha Shizhi and greeted with great courtesy, "Mother, I'm back. Have you been keeping well lately?"
Shizhi Uchiha watched as her son returned safely. After giving him a careful look-over, she broke into a delighted smile, her eyes brimming with concern and joy. Gently, she replied, "I'm perfectly fine. But you must have suffered out there. Hurry inside, all of you."
Hearing his mother's warm words, Shiyu Uchiha felt a wave of emotion. His nose tingled slightly as he struggled to hold back his feelings. Slowly, he said, "Thank you for your concern, Mother. Our journey was smooth—we didn't run into any problems at all."
Then, Shiyu entered the house with his mother and the others, beginning to recount what they'd seen and experienced on their mission, sharing amusing stories from along the way.
Shiyu noticed that young Shisui Uchiha was also present. He already knew about Shisui from Saya. Since Shisui's parents had passed away and Shizhi was his closest surviving relative—his grandaunt—he now lived with her.
Unlike in canon, Shisui wasn't being raised in that pacifist elder's household. Instead, he grew up under Shizhi's care. After all, in the original timeline, Shizhi had died before Shisui was even born.
Seeing Shisui, Shiyu couldn't help but remember—once again—his completely bizarre father, Xuan Uchiha.
This guy used to live with them too, but not long after graduating from the ninja academy and starting to earn an income, he moved out on his own—not long after Shiyu first transmigrated into this world.
Since Xuan moved out, they'd barely spoken at all. Xuan thought Shiyu was narrow-minded and lacked vision—only caring about family and not valuing Konoha enough.
Meanwhile, Shiyu considered the man an idiot, someone so infuriating just to look at that he had zero desire to deal with this traitor to his own clan.
What's worse, this fool got swept off his feet by just a few compliments and barely ever visited the beloved aunt who had raised him since childhood.
On top of that, he passed down this stupidity like some inherited family curse—and handed it straight to his son. According to canon, his son's issues were even worse than his own. Thinking about it, Shiyu couldn't help letting out a sigh.
Still, Shiyu thought—if Hiruzen Sarutobi could be so good at playing people, why couldn't he do the same? Viewed this way, maybe it was even one of Shisui's strengths.
As for whether the other side would ever betray him—Shiyu didn't give it a second thought. He had full confidence in that area.
Later, during the Great Ninja War, Xuan Uchiha married a woman from the Sarutobi clan closely related to Hiruzen Sarutobi through an introduction by Hiruzen himself.
This explained why, in canon, Asuma Sarutobi's daughter looked so much like Shisui Uchiha that people mistook her for his reincarnation.
In addition to his naturally gentle nature, youth, and immature judgment, Shisui's easy trust in Hiruzen Sarutobi was likely tied closely to their familial connection.
After all, within the Uchiha Clan, blood relations were highly valued. For kids too young to make their own decisions, this bloodline connection naturally earned their deep trust.
What mattered most was that he not only knew how to manipulate people's hearts, but also held the moral high ground by virtue of his position as Hokage of Konoha Village.
Later, Shiyu Uchiha also heard that during that man's wedding, Shizhi Uchiha had even handed him a red envelope stuffed with cash. When Shiyu found out, he couldn't help but think the gesture was a complete waste—like throwing a meat bun to a dog, a total waste. Of course, he never dared voice those thoughts to Uchiha Shizhi.
Ever since graduating from the ninja academy, Uchiha Xuan had devoted himself entirely to the great cause of integrating the Uchiha into the village. Yet until the very end of his life, he never achieved a single meaningful success.
