Naruto Birdcage

Chapter 88: Ch 88 : Fly

The Land of Rice, a small nation bordering the Land of Fire, was weak in national strength.

Its ninja forces were scattered and disorganized, mostly consisting of mercenary groups.

In the original story, Orochimaru, after defecting, established Otogakure here.

During wars between great nations, it was common for small nations caught in between to become battlegrounds.

They lacked the power to resist, and those who dared to resist often met with miserable ends.

When Kumogakure stationed troops here, the Daimyo of the Land of Rice conveniently chose to turn a blind eye.

Kumogakure Camp

The scale of this camp far exceeded that of Konoha's.

Over 7,000 ninja were stationed here.

The Fourth Raikage, A, had brought the majority of Kumogakure's forces to this location with the aim of fully conquering the Land of Fire.

Meanwhile, the Land of Lightning's army was already positioned in the rear, ready to move in as soon as the ninja battles concluded.

At present, in the state of the ninja world, both Sunagakure and Iwagakure were in weakened conditions, while Konoha had nearly been destroyed in the previous war.

The Fourth Raikage believed there was no better time than now.

He had also heard that Konoha had recently held the Chunin Exams to celebrate peace.

He wondered if they would be satisfied with the "gift" he was about to deliver.

"Lord Raikage!"

Someone entered the main tent.

"Lord Tsuchidai has sent a message. They've already spotted Konoha ninja in their area."

The Raikage's main tent had no conference table, only a collection of fitness equipment.

At the moment, the Raikage was reclining in a wide chair, drinking water, his body glistening with sweat, clearly just finished with a workout.

"If Namikaze Minato is in the Land of Rice, have them quickly take down Konoha's camp."

Namikaze Minato had been operating alone in the Land of Rice, repeatedly harassing their forces.

Ordinary ninja couldn't defeat him, and groups of pursuers couldn't catch him, driving the Kumo ninja to utter frustration.

From outside the tent came a startled cry:

"Lord Raikage, that Yellow Flash is here again!"

Hearing this, the Fourth Raikage smashed the cup in his hand with a sharp motion.

"That damned pest, scurrying around like a rat!"

In an instant, his entire body was cloaked in lightning, his hair standing on end.

Transforming into a streak of lightning, he charged out of the tent.

"Namikaze Minato!"

.......

Konoha Hospital

A group of over ten injured patients had gathered, waiting anxiously in the reception area.

Soft murmurs of conversation filled the room as they discussed something quietly among themselves.

These individuals were all disabled veterans of the war, having lost arms or legs.

The doctors had long determined they could no longer serve as shinobi.

Finally, excited shouts were heard from the operating room.

"Thank you, Lord Hokage! Thank you, Lord Hokage!"

The sound instantly stirred commotion in the waiting room.

The door to the operating room opened, and a middle-aged man walked out.

Everyone remembered that he had entered with only one arm, but now both his arms were intact.

However, the skin on his right arm was peculiar, appearing a stark, ghastly white.

The scene stirred excitement among everyone in the waiting room, each hoping they would be next.

A medical staff member stepped out of the operating room. "Next, please come in."

As soon as the words were spoken, a ninja using a crutch eagerly stood up.

His movements were so abrupt that he nearly fell, but even so, he pressed forward without hesitation toward the operating room.

At that moment, Tsunade stood in the hallway near the exit, watching the man who had just emerged from the operating room.

She stopped him and carefully examined his right arm.

"Lady Tsunade?"

"It's fine. You can go now," Tsunade said.

She turned to look toward the operating room, her expression growing complicated.

Orochimaru, you've truly done something remarkable...

.......

A massive fireball soared into the sky, its dazzling brilliance dimming the entire heavens.

Following closely was a fierce storm, which caused the flames to intensify instantly, transforming the fireball into a sea of fire that spread across the sky.

Soon, it began raining flames down to the ground.

A transparent barrier was shattered in an instant by the descending fire, revealing a previously invisible camp atop the cliff.

The ground began to crack and collapse as multiple individuals combined their efforts to unleash Earth-Style jutsu.

Enormous pits appeared throughout the Kumogakure camp, burying many within the earth.

Konoha's ninja descended like divine warriors, launching a ferocious assault on the Kumogakure camp.

Countless kunai and shuriken streaked through the air, while bursts of flame erupted without pause.

"Enemy attack! Enemy attack!"

Tsuchidai rushed out of the main tent, his heart sinking as he saw the camp thrown into chaos in an instant.

Konoha's forces had beaten them to the punch!

Half of their troops had already been dispatched to attack Konoha's camp, leaving only a fraction behind to defend.

A trap...

"Quick! Notify Lord Raikage! Call for reinforcements! Call for reinforcements!"

He shouted at the top of his lungs before leaping into the fray himself.

Despite their initial panic, the Kumogakure forces mounted a swift counterattack.

The Land of Lightning was steeped in a culture of martial valor, and nearly every shinobi of Kumogakure belonged to the warrior faction.

Their combat prowess was in no way inferior to that of Iwagakure.

Flames clashed with raging lightning in the skies, and a series of deafening explosions echoed across the cliffside.

The sound of battle blended into a deafening roar, making Makoto's ears ring incessantly.

Beside him, Hakumen diligently fulfilled his duty as a bodyguard, charging at any approaching Kumogakure shinobi without hesitation.

Makoto had already sent Guy and Kakashi elsewhere.

"That's the teleportation array," Makoto remarked, his attention fixed on a massive circular platform in the center of the Kumogakure camp.

It was surrounded by intricate runes and heavily guarded.

Jiraiya was advancing toward the teleportation array, but his progress was met with fierce resistance.

The Kumo ninja were well aware of the array's significance and were fighting desperately to prevent Konoha's forces from getting close.

The camp's commander, Tsuchidai, personally stepped forward to block his path.

Fugaku attempted to launch high-level Fire-Style attacks from a distance, but they were intercepted by Kumogakure's Earth-Style defenses.

Suddenly, a dense rain of shuriken poured down toward Makoto's position, their speed blinding and their coverage so vast that evasion seemed impossible.

Makoto, however, remained composed.

Raising his right arm, he made a simple sweeping motion with his hand.

In an instant, the torrent of shuriken altered their trajectory, as if guided by an invisible force.

They arced in a massive semicircle through the air before hurtling back toward the Kumo ninja like a relentless storm, mowing them down with devastating precision!

"Ah—"

"Ah!"

The agonized screams echoed for what felt like an eternity.

Hakumen retreated to Makoto's side, still shaken.

"Thank you, Lord Makoto!"

"Mm," Makoto replied calmly, his gaze sweeping over the battlefield.

He couldn't help but feel that his style of fighting was somewhat... different from the others.

But it didn't matter.

As long as it killed, it was enough.

The excessive use of jutsu by so many combatants had caused the natural energy in the area to fluctuate wildly under the influence of chakra.

This made it more difficult for Makoto to manipulate the energy with his usual ease.

Though the Kumo ninja were fighting valiantly, they were clearly outmatched.

Under the relentless onslaught of Konoha's forces, they were forced to retreat step by step.

In the distance, the teleportation array suddenly began to glow brightly.

Moments later, a dozen figures emerged from the array.

Without hesitation, these newly arrived reinforcements threw themselves directly into the battle.

Jiraiya, realizing the dire situation, gritted his teeth, but he was unable to advance as several elite jōnin blocked his path.

Kumogakure's Tsuchidai sneered. "One of the legendary Sannin, Jiraiya—rather than hiding with your comrades, you dare to come knocking on our door? Today, I'll ensure you meet your end here!"

His taunt was met with a fiery response—a Fire Release: Flame Bullet.

The glow of the teleportation array persisted.

The intricate patterns on the massive platform shimmered with light, and within mere seconds, another dozen figures emerged.

Jiraiya clenched his jaw and shouted loudly, "Fugaku!"

Fugaku, meanwhile, found himself in a similar predicament.

The closer he got to the teleportation array, the fiercer the resistance he encountered.

Frustration built up within him, but out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of a figure streaking across the sky above.

He retreated to the side of his clansmen, eyes widening in shock as he tilted his head upward.

"Am I seeing things? Was someone... flying just now?"
