Naruto: Born Gifted in Konoha

Chapter 87: [Chapter 87: The Explosive Release]

Four Stone Shinobi remained. Saitama gripped his blade, the Sharingan's tomoe spinning ceaselessly.

This ninja with a bloodline was slightly troublesome, but the others seemed easy enough to handle.

Lightning chakra coiled around Saitama's arm as he half-closed his eyes and slightly raised his sword.

Whoosh! His figure vanished. Saitama zeroed in on a scrawny-looking Stone Shinobi and rushed him.

Zap! The enemy couldn't keep up with Saitama's speed. Even though the formation tightened the moment Saitama disappeared, it didn't matter to him.

Without hesitation, Saitama slashed the ninja down. The blade flashed and sliced through his throat — blood splattered everywhere!

"Gurgle!" Blood poured into the man's trachea, making his breathing extremely difficult. He desperately clutched at the wound with both hands, trying to delay death, but it was useless. He staggered and collapsed onto the ground.

"Damn it!"

A shinobi next to Shū shouted, hurling a kunai toward Saitama's face with his right hand.

Saitama pushed off the ground, sidestepping to avoid the attack while his blade continued flashing with lightning.

The Sharingan locked eyes on the enemy. Saitama didn't relax even after killing one opponent with a single strike.

Saitama flicked his tongue over his lips — ready for more. With Lightning crackling all over him, he leaned forward and pushed hard with his right foot, rocketing himself like a bolt from the sky.

Crack! His sword came down on the ninja's arm but got blocked — it felt just like striking stone.

Saitama quickly realized what happened but wasn't surprised. Increasing his Chakra output, the blue-white glow of the blade burned brighter as it steadily pressed downward.

Hiss! Blood surged down the blade in streams.

"Die!"

Shū hurled a punch, his wild spiky hair flaring wildly amidst the furious Chakra storm.

Saitama darted backward, dodging the kunai and shuriken thrown by other shinobi with quick, sharp movements.

Shū punched into empty air. A shockwave exploded outward from his fist, surging forward like an energy blast aimed straight at Saitama.

Without thinking twice, Saitama raised his sword in front of his chest, his left hand filled with Chakra pressing against its back.

Sizzle!

He skidded back, planting his blade into the ground to halt his retreat.

Both sleeves had completely torn open with a loud bang, leaving him looking like a ragged beggar — funny, but not now.

None of them could afford to care about such things. After landing one hit, Shū charged again, pulling his right arm back with his body bent like a bow, Chakra swirling wildly around him.

The remaining Stone Shinobi trailed close behind, eyes locked onto Saitama, waiting for the perfect opening.

This team moved together like clockwork.

Yanking his blade from the earth, Saitama surged with electricity, releasing the familiar chirp of thousands of birds (Chidori).

"Die!"

Shū threw another punch. It was fast, but Saitama was faster.

The Saitama who stood directly before him seemed like an illusion. The moment his shoulder moved, he vanished.

The punch naturally missed, slamming into the ground and creating a crater. Clearly, Shū had pulled back his Chakra at the last second — no explosion followed.

Saitama swiftly circled around Shū without attacking him, instead rushing toward the other stone shinobi. Better to eliminate these minor nuisances first before they kept harassing him.

With a single slash, Saitama cut down a ninja wielding a kunai. The blade left its mark across his chest, and blood spurted forth like a geyser from the wound.

Just as he prepared to continue, the remaining two ninja moved in perfect unison, sticking close together—one holding a kunai, the other clenching his fists tightly.

Shū naturally witnessed everything Saitama had done. His face darkened with rage, and he spun on his heel, rushing back quickly.

Together with his two remaining comrades, they flanked Saitama from both sides.

"Attack!"

The stone ninja showed no hesitation—they launched their assault immediately. They had no intention of waiting around to be killed by Saitama.

Surrounded by three opponents, all skilled ninjas, even Saitama briefly found himself struggling.

However, he quickly regained his composure and began handling the fight with ease.

One ninja stabbed at him with a kunai. Saitama sidestepped gracefully, swung his blade outward, sparks flying off the sword as he forced Shū back. Finally, he delivered a powerful kick into the stomach of the last enemy.

Whoosh! The four clashed continuously, and Saitama's Chidori Current had a tremendous impact. Each exchange slowed them slightly.

Saitama kept a sharp eye on the Explosion Release ninja, ready to prevent any trouble he might cause.

[Earth Release: Earth Spike Spears!]

Taking advantage of an opening, one stone ninja activated his jutsu.

As he formed the final hand seal, countless sharp earthen spears emerged from the ground beneath him.

"Now! Go!"

He manipulated the earth spears with a wave of his hand, sending them hurtling toward Saitama.

Meanwhile, Shū and the other ninja had already moved aside instinctively and in perfect coordination.

Saitama stared expressionlessly at the incoming spears, never pausing his steps. Rushing straight into the technique, he sliced each spear down one after another as he ran toward the ninja who summoned them.

In the blink of an eye, the earthen spears were gone. Saitama's eyes sharpened. He pushed off the ground with a single foot, accelerating instantly toward the enemy, who was still maintaining the posture used to control the earth spears.

"Watch out!"

Shū shouted from the side, seeing Saitama's movement, but it was already too late.

Saitama glared furiously and mercilessly cleaved his blade across the man's throat.

Zzzzt! A red line resembling a necklace appeared around the stone ninja's neck.

He fell to the ground, blood spraying violently from his throat and splattering onto the dirt.

Without stopping, and without lowering his guard, Saitama pushed forward once more, launching himself at another opponent.

After all the chaos, Saitama had figured out the enemies' patterns, and the Chidori Current kept wearing down the earth-style users.

So this time, as he rushed in, the panting enemy failed to evade.

Looking into the widened eyes of the foe, Saitama raised his right arm and drove his crackling blade deep into the enemy's chest.

Ghkk! The enemy grabbed desperately at Saitama's sword, a final act of resistance.

Saitama, naturally hearing the sound of something cutting through the air behind him, rotated his Sharingan within its socket. With a sudden burst of strength, he shoved forward, pushing the dying enemy backward.

Boom!

He barely escaped in time — just as his body cleared the blast zone, a shockwave slammed into his back.

The enemy seemed to have lost his last bit of strength as well. Saitama surged with electricity, drew his sword, and spun around to look behind him.

From within the smoke, a figure slowly approached—it was indeed the Explosion Release ninja.

"Who exactly are you!?"

Shū stared at Saitama, speaking hatefully through his mouth.

There was no way someone this strong could've come out of nowhere. Yet Shū knew absolutely nothing about this man.

Naturally, even though Saitama had some reputation in both Konoha and Mist, it was still wartime now—information hadn't spread quickly enough. It was only natural that the Stone Shinobi hadn't heard much about him yet.

"Hmph!"

Saitama tore off his damaged sleeve with his left hand. This was finally his chance to deal with his ruined clothing after all this fighting.

Three tomoe swirled within his eye as he remained on full alert.

Boom!

The enemy stamped hard on the ground and rushed straight toward Saitama.

Zzzt! Crackling electricity surged along his arms. Saitama crouched low, then launched forward like a bolt of lightning.

The two figures crashed together. Saitama's speed was noticeably faster—he dodged aside from the enemy's attack while leaving a wound across his body.

After passing each other, Saitama pushed off the ground again, and the enemy, disregarding his own injuries, charged right back at him.

Zzzt! The current along the blade crackled loudly. Watching his opponent leave himself completely open, Saitama lowered his sword and thrust it forward.

Whoosh! Shū's fist smashed into empty air just behind Saitama's shoulder, only for Saitama to brace against it with his own shoulder.

At the same time, Saitama pressed tightly against his body, his blade fully buried into his chest.

Face-to-face, they locked eyes.

Blood slowly dripped from the corner of Shū's mouth. As he gazed at Saitama, the world around him started turning gray.

So I still lost...

With that thought, he slowly closed his eyes.

His heart had already been utterly shredded by Saitama's blade. Inside his body, surging electric currents continued dancing wildly, numbing his senses.

Pzi! Pulling the blade free, Saitama took several steps back before dropping down to sit heavily on the ground.

Phew! Staring at the corpse before him, Saitama exhaled deeply. Scanning the area to ensure everything was safe, he reached one hand behind his back.

His fingers met burnt skin, radiating a slight sting.

Though the enemy's punch missed its mark—Saitama had dodged—the explosion still erupted near his back, naturally causing damage there.

Thankfully, it wasn't too serious.

Pushing himself up, Saitama tore off his shredded clothes and tossed them aside.

[Fire Release: Great Fireball Jutsu!]

After gathering together everything of his he no longer needed, he unleashed a Ninjutsu upon the pile before departing.

The earlier commotion might've already drawn nearby Stone Shinobi. Best to move out—now.

Before leaving, he stripped a flak vest from one of the corpses and threw it on without a second glance. Without looking back, Saitama walked away.

Flames roared as they consumed the remains scattered haphazardly around the area, creating an eerily grotesque scene.

...

Without delay, Saitama immediately departed. Holding a crude map looted from the enemy, he carefully bypassed certain defensive lines, stopping occasionally until he soon arrived at a civilian encampment.

Due to the previous battle, Saitama's clothes had been destroyed, so he was currently wearing a Stone Shinobi's vest.

In order to hide his identity, Saitama first found some clothing at a civilian residence, changed into it, and then prepared to gather information.

Right now, he was wearing an off-white outfit. Since it was "borrowed," it didn't fit well, but that actually made it perfect for concealing his sword beneath the baggy clothing.

This was just a typical civilian town. Located in the central region of the Land of Earth, warfare hadn't reached here yet, so the civilians were living relatively comfortable lives.

It was around five or six in the evening. The whole town was drenched in dusk light, and most families were indoors, getting dinner ready.

Yet, the taverns in town remained packed. There were scattered groups of shinobi, samurais, traders, and street vendors.

Though just a small town, it was a chaotic mix of all sorts of shady types.

The war had still brought some changes. Many people who might have never crossed paths with this town in their lives had arrived here because of this conflict.
