"Infiltrate the Uchiha clan and kill everyone?"

Danzo Shimura's lips curled into a sinister smile. "Finally, it's time for Root to take action!"

His eyes gleamed with madness.

This time, Sarutobi Hiruzen really intended to let him act without restraint!

It seemed...

Sarutobi Hiruzen realized that Uchiha Itachi alone couldn't handle such a heavy task. That must be why he sent Danzo to help hunt down the Uchiha clan members!

And he even gave a clear target—start by attacking Fugaku's faction!

"The Hokage also said to make sure your men don't reveal their identities!" Eisuke Sarutobi quickly added, seeing Danzo's eagerness.

This was Hiruzen's final and most critical instruction.

The massacre of the Uchiha clan today was not to implicate Konoha's higher-ups. It was to be framed as an action led by Uchiha Itachi and others!

"Hah, even now, he's so cautious!" Danzo sneered. He took a few steps forward, gazing at the enormous task ahead, a mix of emotions flashing in his heart. 

"Don't worry, Root operatives won't reveal their identities. From this moment on, they are simply external reinforcements Itachi brought in to exterminate the clan."

Danzo's sneer deepened. Most of Root's operatives had been subjected to his cursed seals. They couldn't speak of what they weren't permitted to say.

That was the source of his confidence.

Eisuke didn't say anything further and simply watched Danzo intently.

"Men…" Danzo's voice commanded authority as it echoed.

In an instant, four figures appeared before him, kneeling on one knee.

They were ready to obey his orders without hesitation.

Each of these ninja bore a code number on their uniforms: 01, 02, 03, and 04.

After joining Root, they had relinquished their names. These individuals were the most elite of Root's operatives, each a top-tier jonin.

This was Danzo's trump card.

Eisuke Sarutobi's pupils narrowed as he saw the four figures suddenly appear before him.

Just now, the movements of these people were too fast. He only caught glimpses of shadows!

If he were to fight any one of them, he wouldn't stand a chance!

He didn't expect Danzo to have such hidden cards.

"I have a mission for you now!" Shimura Danzo looked at the group, his eyes flashing sharply. "There has been unrest within the Uchiha clan. They are planning a coup. What we need to do next is eliminate this threat for Konoha and wipe out the Uchiha clan!"

The four people were visibly shocked and surprised when they heard this.

Their original mission was to trap the Uchiha clan members and monitor their actions. But now, the orders had changed at the very beginning of the operation!

Wipe out the Uchiha clan!

Though surprised and confused, the four obeyed without question. The rules of the Root demanded absolute compliance with Danzo's orders. If Danzo said to destroy the Uchiha clan, then they would carry out his command!

There was no room for argument!

Danzo looked at his subordinates and nodded in satisfaction. "Now, I will assign the tasks!"

"01 and 02, your mission is the most critical. Take 60 Root shinobi and infiltrate the Uchiha clan from the direction of the Uchiha Police Force headquarters. Your objective is to wipe out every remaining Uchiha. Leave no one alive!"

Danzo's tone carried an overwhelming killing intent and greed. The Sharingan of the Uchiha clan—all of them would be his!

Having just one Sharingan was equivalent to having an extra life. With so many Sharingan in his possession, he would finally have the confidence to rival Sarutobi Hiruzen.

If his strength became sufficient, he wouldn't remain a shadow crawling in Konoha's darkness. He would truly become the Hokage!

"Understood, sir!"

"Understood!"

01 and 02 nodded firmly in acknowledgment.

"03, you will lead 20 Root ninja to infiltrate from the Merchant Association's Police Force," Danzo commanded, his cold gaze falling on 03. A chilling glint flashed in his eyes. 

"Your task is to tie down the main forces of the Police Force, then join up with 01 and 02 to annihilate the Uchiha clan completely."

03 nodded but took a deep breath.

His mission was the most challenging. It was said that the Merchant Association's Police Force had nearly a dozen members on duty at night. 

Although his team consisted of elite jonin, facing off against ten or so Uchiha elites still made him uncertain.

After all,

Not every Uchiha possessed their clan's powerful Kekkei Genkai.

But those who could join the Police Force had all awakened their Sharingan.

Fortunately, Danzo's orders were to stall them and set up for the extermination.

With that in mind,

He could only nod and agree.

Seeing their agreement, Danzo turned his gaze to 04 and continued, "04, your task is the lightest. Take 15 Root ninja into the Uchiha hospital and eliminate the Uchiha stationed outside, as well as the wives and children of the Uchiha clan inside. Especially Uchiha Kinya's wife. If anyone resists, kill them!"

Shock flashed through 04's eyes.

He hadn't expected Danzo to be this ruthless, not sparing a single member of the Uchiha clan.

Even the elderly, women, and children in the hospital were not to be left alive?

Thinking of this, he couldn't help but blurt out, "What if someone resists? Like civilian ninja... or civilians?"

"Kill them. If anyone dares to interfere with Root's operations, kill them!" Danzo revealed his true, merciless nature. "Right now, you are Itachi's accomplices in wiping out the clan. You are not Konoha villagers. You have no reason for hesitation!"

Sarutobi Eisuke felt his scalp tingle as he watched Shimura Danzo at that moment.

This?

No wonder the Hokage had kept him as the leader of Root for so long. This level of ruthlessness and decisiveness was something he could never achieve.

If it were him, he might hesitate, but Danzo had not the slightest doubt!

04 nodded solemnly and stopped asking questions.

As a Root ninja, he was bound to obey Danzo's orders without question.

"Alright, begin your operation!" Shimura Danzo glanced at Sarutobi Eisuke and smiled faintly before issuing his final command: 

"Remember, you are Itachi Uchiha's accomplices in destroying the Uchiha clan, not Konoha ninjas!"

The four of them nodded and stood up.

Numbers 1 and 2, leading sixty men, headed toward the weakest defenses of the Uchiha headquarters. This area was home to most of the Uchiha clan's leaders and elders.

Essentially, it was the base of Fugaku's faction. If they managed to eliminate the higher-ups and elders of the Uchiha, the clan would be reduced to scattered factions, much easier to deal with.

Number 3 headed toward the Merchant Police Force.

Number 4 led his team to the Uchiha Hospital. Of the three squads, his mood was the heaviest. While he could bring himself to kill members of the Uchiha clan, taking the lives of innocent civilians weighed heavily on his heart.

Inside the Uchiha Hospital: 

In a hospital room, Hayashi leaned halfway against the bed, eating fruit. Beside him sat Might Guy.

Following Genya's orders, Hayashi had one task: no matter what, he must delay Might Guy. And he succeeded!

Now, Might Guy was still in the hospital room, chatting with him. However, the cost of this success was rather painful—he had to keep the bowl haircut!

But for Genya, he endured.
