Naruto: Evolution

Chapter 32: Mission

"Sigh… There's no point in overthinking this now. To know if this is really the case, I'll have to wait until I awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan. Either way, the stronger my ocular power, the better."

He exhaled deeply, setting aside those concerns and focusing on adapting to his newly evolved Sharingan.

Although he had always been extremely careful to hide the fact that he had awakened his Sharingan, that didn't mean it was useless.

On the contrary, the Sharingan was one of his most valuable hidden cards, and now that it had reached the two-tomoe level, with an ocular power comparable to three, his advantage was even greater.

Even a normal Sharingan, when advancing from a single tomoe to two, not only experienced a significant increase in ocular power but also gained the ability to copy techniques.

For now, he could only replicate simple Taijutsu, but it was still a considerable improvement. And that was without mentioning the boost to his Genjutsu skills and perception.

However, in his case, the evolution had far exceeded the standard. One could say that his two-tomoe Sharingan was, in reality, a disguised three-tomoe Sharingan.

But the evolution didn't just improve his Sharingan; it also represented a significant leap in his spiritual energy.

Spiritual energy was no less important than vital energy. Beyond its role in refining chakra, its influence on chakra control was key.

A clear example was the 'Uchiha Style Strength Jutsu' he was training.

This Taijutsu required extremely precise chakra control.

Concentrating and releasing chakra into a single point sounded simple in theory, but in practice, it was incredibly difficult.

Even with his talent, it had taken him several days to master the basics. For someone without his ability, it would probably be impossible to achieve in a lifetime.

Feeling the improvement in both his Sharingan and his spiritual energy, Gen deactivated his Sharingan with satisfaction.

"I need to improve in other areas as well."

Even when his Sharingan only had a single tomoe, he avoided using it in public. Now that it had reached the two-tomoe level, even more so.

For someone his age, having awakened the Sharingan was already impressive. If it became known that he had reached the two-tomoe level, he would undoubtedly attract too much attention… and trouble.

The best way to hide it was to excel in other skills.

If he managed to stand out in various areas, even if he faced a powerful enemy, he would have options to resolve the situation without needing to reveal his Sharingan.

Just thinking about the consequences of his two-tomoe Sharingan being discovered sent a chill down his spine.

Without hesitation, he left his room and headed to the training field.

He couldn't be sure about everyone, but if anyone in Konoha's shadows was going to be a problem, it was Danzō.

Whether to conceal his Sharingan or to ensure he could defend himself if it was exposed, he couldn't afford to neglect his training.

The Next Day.

At the training field where they usually gathered, Hayato addressed his team.

"Listen, our next mission will be a B-rank. It involves escorting a caravan to the Land of Tea. Before tomorrow's meeting, I want all three of you to be fully prepared."

His gaze moved over Azora, Momo, and Gen as he gave the instruction.

"Another B-rank mission?" Azora frowned, adopting a serious expression.

Momo had the same reaction.

Although this wasn't their first mission of this level, B-rank missions were on a completely different scale compared to D and C-rank ones, which were usually simple and routine. As high-level missions, they carried a much greater risk.

Even though they trusted their own abilities, they knew they couldn't let their guard down.

"A B-rank mission, huh… This will be my first time participating in a high-level one," Gen commented, letting out a slight sigh.

For over two weeks, he had completed many missions, but to improve team synchronization, Hayato had only accepted C and D-rank assignments.

Those low-level missions, even when they involved combat, only included small animals or common bandits.

He wasn't someone who sought out meaningless fights, but he also didn't mind improving himself through combat. Spending so much time on low-risk tasks had started to bore him.

Now that they were finally facing a B-rank mission, with a high probability of encountering enemy ninjas, he couldn't help but feel a certain interest.

His reaction made Azora and Momo exchange glances before turning to him.

"Gen, with your strength, you'll have no problems," Momo said, thinking her teammate was nervous about the mission's difficulty and trying to encourage him.

"Yeah, you may lack experience in missions of this level, but in terms of strength, you're more than ready," Azora added confidently.

Gen smiled slightly. "Hearing it like that almost makes me feel a little embarrassed."

"No false modesty," Hayato interjected with a smile. "It's not just Azora and Momo who believe in you—I do too. For this mission, I expect to see what you're capable of, Gen."

After spending time together, even if Gen kept certain aspects secret, his skill was undeniable to the team.

Gen gave a faint smile and said nothing more.

With the instructions given, Hayato didn't stay any longer and quickly left.

Gen, Azora, and Momo also separated, each preparing for the next day's mission.

On the Road.

On either side of the path, lush trees swayed gently with the breeze, while wild vegetation grew tangled among the roots. From time to time, strange screeches from some unknown creature broke the silence.

The wheels of the carts creaked as they turned, leaving deep tracks in the earthy ground.

The caravan moved slowly. There were nearly a hundred people, with more than a dozen wagons loaded to the brim with goods.

As the convoy advanced, not only was Hayato on high alert within the group, but at the front and flanks, Gen, Momo, and Azora moved strategically in a triangular formation, ready to react to any threat.

This was the caravan they were escorting as part of the B-rank mission Hayato had accepted.

Time passed as they moved forward, until gradually, midday approached.

The members of the caravan were ordinary people whose physical endurance couldn't compare to that of ninjas. So, when noon arrived, the caravan leader ordered a stop to rest. At the same time, they took the opportunity to eat and regain their energy before continuing the journey.
