Naruto: Forbidden Arts and an Immortal Agenda

Chapter 113: Chapter 113: No Defense

The door to the Police Force Chief's Office opened, and Fugaku Uchiha stood there.

Kentou wasn't surprised — but the sight of the gathered people inside the office left him speechless.

The normally spacious room was now packed beyond belief.

As the Hokage's assistant, Kentou knew all the leaders and elders from the major ninja clans in the village.

There was Hiashi Hyuga in a white kimono, the burly Choza Akimichi, Inoichi Yamanaka with his golden hair, Shikaku Nara with his pineapple-shaped hairstyle, and Tsume Inuzuka with her distinctive facial markings...

One glance told Kentou he was looking at the leaders and elders of several major clans.

The door shut quickly before Kentou could take in the rest of the faces.

But even those few alone were enough to raise serious alarm.

Fugaku closed the door and said to Kentou, "The Hokage summoned me. Let's go!"

Without waiting, he strode down the stairs toward the Hokage's office.

Kentou gave one last glance at the closed Police Force Chief's Office before hurrying after Fugaku.

Inside the office, everyone wore expressions of sorrow and solemnity.

Inoichi turned away from the doorway and murmured to Shikaku beside him, "They made sure Kentou saw us."

Shikaku also showed a troubled look, muttering, "Troublesome."

Choza, standing nearby, shrugged indifferently, "We had to come when it involves our missing and mysteriously deceased clansmen."

Sighing, Shikaku grew serious too as his gaze shifted toward the smiling Uchiha member standing calmly among them.

Aozora rapped on Fugaku's desk and said, "Let's continue."

"Our squad captured Tanaka Shoko and found traces of Shimon Hiruko. Later, we discovered an underground pit filled with bones and flesh growths."

As he spoke, Aozora pulled out a scroll and continued somberly, "I managed to recover these three relatively intact corpses from the pit. I hope you can identify them so they can return to their homeland and rest in peace."

Aozora wiped the desk clean and unsealed the bodies.

A foul stench filled the entire office as a decayed corpse — a skeleton barely covered with skin — lay on Fugaku's desk.

All present were hardened veterans; they merely wrinkled their noses slightly before stepping forward to examine the body.

The horrifying sight angered many of the shinobi, and Tsume's eyes burned with fury.

"Kuroga wasn't supposed to have died during the bandit-eradication mission. Who dug up his body?"

A medical ninja in the crowd coldly remarked, "Judging from the condition of the skin, he hasn't been dead for more than two weeks."

At those words, murmurs instantly broke out across the room.

Aozora collected Kuroga's remains and handed them to Tsume, saying, "May you find peace soon. Let him rest in peace as soon as possible."

Then, Aozora brought out two more scrolls, which were quickly claimed by Hiashi Hyuga and Choza Akimichi respectively.

"These three corpses are the most intact ones in the pile... The rest are just severed fingers, broken limbs, or even just bloodstains..."

"The pit is filled with mountains of bones and grotesque, disgusting tumors covering everything inside..."

"I can't even imagine how many bodies it would take to fill that pit..."

Aozora's description brought everyone back to that cruel and bloody lab, sending chills down their spines.

"That lab couldn't have been built overnight. From what I can tell, it's been in use for at least three to five years. So how long has Hiruko actually been a rogue ninja?"

"In just three to five years, over a hundred ninjas… Where did Hiruko even get all these people? And how come not a single word ever got out?"

"Tanaka Shoko has repeatedly killed his teammates. Why hasn't Anbu investigated this?"

"The corpses in the pit come from different places—some died in the east, some in the west. How did they all end up in Dahe City?"

Aozora didn't reveal his suspicions but kept asking questions. But honestly, who among those present was foolish enough to fall for it?

They all knew there must've been someone high up in Anbu covering this up—otherwise none of this would've been possible.

But no one dared speak openly. Anbu was under the Hokage's direct command; questioning Anbu meant questioning the Hokage himself.

Hiashi Hyuga was clearly fed up with Aozora's roundabout way of speaking and cut right to the chase: "What exactly are you trying to say? And what do you plan to do? Since when has the Uchiha clan produced someone so indirect like you?"

Aozora didn't lose his temper. He simply replied, "That's not a question for me—it's one you should all be asking yourselves.

Our Police Force's job is protecting Konoha—we hardly ever go on foreign missions. But your clan members do that kind of work all the time.

Unless Anbu's dark side is uncovered, will you keep sending your kids on missions like nothing happened? Can you really trust the intel they give anymore?"

...

Meanwhile, Fugaku Uchiha had already arrived at the Hokage's office.

Fugaku scanned the room and saw Hiruzen Sarutobi behind the smoke-filled space and Danzo sitting diagonally opposite The Third.

Fugaku greeted them, saying, "The Third! Elder Danzo!"

Hiruzen Sarutobi nodded, saying, "Fugaku Uchiha, no need to stand on ceremony. Please sit down."

After Fugaku sat, Hiruzen Sarutobi said, "We called you here mainly because we need to ask you something."

Fugaku replied, "Please go ahead!"

Hiruzen nodded and glanced at Danzo, signaling him to speak.

Danzo gave a nod and, with his single eye scrutinizing Fugaku, asked, "Where were Aozora, Shuichi, Genya, and Kagenbi of the Police Department this week?"

"They went on an external mission. Is there a problem?" Fugaku replied.

"Where exactly did they go?" Danzo pressed.

"Dahe City!" Fugaku answered.

"Do you realize that the Intelligence Outpost in Dahe City has been destroyed and its director has disappeared?" Danzo questioned further.

Fugaku shifted his gaze between Hiruzen Sarutobi and Danzo.

Hiruzen spoke, saying, "Fugaku Uchiha, please answer truthfully!"

Though politely worded, Hiruzen's tone was serious.

Meeting Hiruzen's gaze calmly, Fugaku stated, "The head of intelligence in Dahe City was arrested by the Police Force, and the outpost was destroyed by the Police Force as well."

Danzo snapped, "Fugaku Uchiha! The Police Force actually took action against Anbu personnel without the Hokage's authorization! Do you still recognize the Hokage? Do you still respect the discipline of the ninja world?"

Fugaku ignored Danzo's accusation entirely, calmly locking eyes with Hiruzen Sarutobi.

He could have defended his honor or pleaded his case, yet he chose not to speak at all.

Aozora once said that the Uchiha feared their clan's annihilation, and Konoha equally feared the destruction of the village.

Since contingencies had been prepared for this very scenario, Fugaku wanted to test the Third's limits.

Danzo burned with fury at Fugaku's silence. "Hiruzen! What more are you waiting for? The Uchiha have already betrayed the village!"

As Danzo began forming hand seals, a surge of powerful wind chakra burst from his body, sending loose pages fluttering violently through the air.

"Stop this at once!"

Hiruzen straightened in his chair, his resolute face briefly showing traces of the First Hokage's legendary might—the Iron Will of the Iron Hokage.

In a tone that allowed no argument, he commanded Fugaku: "Hand over the one responsible for attacking the Intelligence Outpost. I still believe the Uchiha remain loyal to Konoha."

Fugaku only shook his head. "I trust my men!"

Hiruzen shot to his feet in anger, slamming both hands on the desk as he glared at Fugaku with the crushing force of a thunderous beast.

Yet Fugaku stood unwavering, meeting his gaze without fear, his own commanding aura radiating outward.

The two forces clashed midair, sending unseen ripples of wind swirling through the room.

Their eyes met—electricity crackled between them as if lightning had struck.

Tension filled the office, as though an explosive battle were about to erupt at any second.
