Naruto: From Extra to Savior

Chapter 95: Chapter 95: No Hero Came

Might Guy, having underestimated the sinister nature of Kimimaro's Kekkei Genkai, found himself momentarily at a disadvantage. Using the recoil from his strike to leap back and land safely, Guy watched as Kimimaro, sent flying by the impact, crashed heavily into a residential building, sending up a plume of dust.

Then Guy took out bandages and quickly dressed his wounds, keeping a wary eye on Kimimaro nearby.

"So every bone in your body can become bone spurs? What an incredible Kekkei Genkai," Guy said, stretching out his slightly numb right hand and flexing his aching fingers. "Not only that—you can even form hardened bone armor to defend yourself. It's practically impossible to find an opening..."

Kimimaro's mastery over his bloodline had reached astonishing levels. Even within the Kaguya Clan, people feared his talent so much that he was confined from childhood, deprived of freedom, and brought out only as a living weapon during battles.

Sure enough, not long after, Kimimaro emerged from the rubble completely unscathed.

"I definitely underestimated you," Kimimaro observed, glancing around; most of the pursuing ninjas had already seized this opportunity to chase Orochimaru. "It appears my mission has failed, but by now Lord Orochimaru should have distanced himself sufficiently. Being able to hold back a powerful ninja like you is more than enough..."

Without elite Jonin like Might Guy chasing him, the current situation should be sufficient for Orochimaru to escape alive. If necessary, the Sound Four could activate their second-stage cursed seals one after another, sacrificing themselves to cover his retreat. The Konoha shinobi would be unable to pursue him further by then.

"Forgive my earlier negligence."

Initially, Kimimaro—who bore the Cursed Seal of Earth—hadn't used it. But as pressure mounted, he had no choice but to activate the cursed seal to replenish massive losses of stamina and chakra. However, even in this first-level state, clearly he couldn't match Guy. So without hesitation, Kimimaro immediately advanced to the second stage. His once-clear face twisted into a hideous monstrosity. A long tail dragged behind him—an organ clearly not human—and sharp bone spurs jutted menacingly from his back, arms, and shoulders, obviously not just decorations, but true killing weapons.

"In this form, my combat strength should match yours. Then let's begin..."

Kimimaro darted toward Might Guy at incredible speed, his power and velocity greatly enhanced. His movements became imperceptible to the naked eye—only blurred afterimages remained visible.

In no time, the battle between these two masters of Taijutsu and close combat escalated toward its climax. Their extraordinary speed and strength were simply beyond the reach of civilians.

And the battle subtly turned favorable for Kimimaro. Not because Guy was weaker, but because the Shikotsumyaku posed an extreme challenge to any Taijutsu practitioner. Breaking through the opponent's defense was already difficult enough, not to mention having to constantly guard against unpredictable bone spikes attacking from unexpected directions.

Even though he was only using the Primary Lotus, Might Guy still held the upper hand. However, the key problem was the excessive reliance on the straightforward offense techniques of the Konoha Strong Fist Taijutsu style. When overwhelming force through sheer strength and speed failed to dominate the opponent, Kimimaro's Shikotsumyaku, combined with his uniquely flexible and versatile fighting style, effectively suppressed Might Guy's combat effectiveness.

[It seems the Primary Lotus won't be enough.]

With his natural battle instincts, Might Guy quickly judged that if this situation continued, neither side would be able to secure a decisive advantage—it would devolve into a war of attrition, whoever collapsed first would lose. But considering Might Guy's prime physical condition against Kimimaro's clearly artificially enhanced youthful body, he had a considerable advantage. Yet prolonging the fight was undesirable.

Resolute in his decision, Might Guy no longer hesitated. He temporarily forced Kimimaro back and began to activate the next gate.

"Gate of Life, open!"

The Reverse Lotus activated, veins throbbed visibly across Might Guy's face, and his face flushed red.

With the Life Gate open, Might Guy's surging speed and power made him impossible to contain any longer.

"Gate of Harm, open!"

With the fourth gate unlocked, Might Guy, leveraging his superior speed, began pushing Kimimaro back. Seeing danger approaching fast, Kimimaro attempted to interfere.

[Ten Finger Shoot]

Instantly, sharp bone projectiles launched from Kimimaro's fingers straight toward Might Guy. However, the chakra aura surrounding Might Guy blew them aside effortlessly, rendering them completely ineffective.

"Gate of Limit, open!"

Might Guy burst through five gates consecutively, his entire body glowing deep crimson as the surging chakra lifted broken stones from the ground. Then, with a speed far surpassing normal human reaction time, Might Guy delivered a devastating Leaf Great Whirlwind kick, sending Kimimaro flying. The ground behind him exploded into upheaval only after he had already moved past.

Kimimaro didn't stand idle either when confronted with such a dire situation. Employing [Dance of the Larch] from his Shikotsumyaku technique, dozens of hardened bone protrusions formed instantly, effectively blocking Might Guy's attacks. Although he couldn't push off surfaces midair, and most of the defensive bones shattered under the rapid succession of blows, at least Kimimaro hadn't been instantly overwhelmed.

Yet Might Guy capitalized on the momentary lack of bone spurs. Seizing the momentary opening, he unleashed the devastating [Shadow of the Dancing Leaf]. The two plunged downward in a headfirst dive from the air, causing the ground below to crack and explode into a large crater.

Not waiting for the dust to settle, a figure shot straight upward—that was Might Guy, dodging potential counterattacks in case Kimimaro survived.

[Dance of the Iron Chain]

Still within the cloud of dust, a whip erupted from Kimimaro's spine lashed out and tightly coiled around Might Guy mid-air. Below, in the deep crater, half-kneeling on one knee emerged Kimimaro himself.

Backed by bones of exceptional hardness, he managed to survive—but even though the bones held strong, his internal organs remained fragile. His worsening injuries had begun to drastically impair Kimimaro's battle capabilities.

Though originally a decisive finishing move designed to bind an enemy before delivering a fatal strike, [Dance of the Iron Chain] could now only buy precious moments of delay.

"It seems I truly am going to die. I was still not strong enough. It's only natural that Lord Orochimaru no longer invested in me. Dying in battle for Lord Orochimaru is far better than fading away pathetically on a deathbed. I only hope Lord Orochimaru's next vessel proves worthy..."

However, Might Guy, who had temporarily been restrained, had no intention of letting things end here.

"View Gate, open."

Might Guy, having opened the sixth gate, was like a raging beast. Greenish energy surged all over his body as he snapped the bone whip restraining him. [Then he came down like a firestorm.]

"Morning Peacock!"

The explosive force and flames from this blindingly fast attack instantly consumed Kimimaro below. With a dazzling array of strikes too fast to follow, the outcome was sealed. Might Guy retracted his chakra, stood aside panting heavily, and looked down at Kimimaro at the bottom of the crater, half of whose body had been driven deep into the earth by the powerful impact.

"You were truly an exceptional opponent," Guy remarked. "Yet why would someone with such unwavering resolve serve someone as despicable as Orochimaru?"

Hearing Might Guy's question, Kimimaro, barely clinging to life, struggled to reply, "A villain? A hero? Since childhood, I've only ever known how to fight—I have no way of telling the difference. When I needed them most, they were never there… Only Lord Orochimaru was."

Kimimaro's following murmurs faded unheard. Hearing his words, Might Guy found himself at a loss for words. "Young warrior… may you find peace and purpose in your next life—perhaps in Konoha." Without glancing back at the dying Kimimaro, Guy caught his breath and resumed his pursuit.

Meanwhile, Mizuki's original body deep within the forest was facing a major crisis.

"He's coming straight toward us? That shouldn't be possible…"
