Naruto: I Am The System

Chapter 67: Chapter 67: Ascension: Phantom Lord Arc (Part I)

Well, it made sense.

When an ordinary person encounters a fortuitous opportunity and acquires numerous treasures or secret techniques, those items carry their personal fortune (or karmic value).

But when a powerful individual casually collects low-tier techniques, they're no longer infused with significant fate value.

Unless those techniques were obtained during that person's weaker years and thus carry the weight of their early fortune, they won't generate much value.

That was exactly why Madara, back when he had just joined the system, had uploaded low-level techniques and still earned quite a few points.

Of course…

Killing others and stealing their fortune had nothing to do with one's own level or rank.

However, slaughtering countless nobodies didn't bring nearly as many points as eliminating a single key figure in a major storyline.

For someone with Madara's level of strength, if he wasn't fighting high-level bosses, it was simply a waste of potential.

That was the logic, anyway.

A month had already passed, and it was time to initiate a new Reincarnator Mission.

With a faint smirk on his lips, Nawaki chuckled to himself, moving a tea table into the courtyard and sitting down leisurely.

He took a small sip of tea and pulled open the transfer interface like he was watching a play.

"This time… let's send my dear teammates on the Reincarnation trip. After all, this is the first official Ascension Mission of the Reincarnation Space—if I don't spotlight them, that would be a real shame."

He added the names of the three Sannin to the list and activated a [Reincarnation Token].

The next moment, the three of them—each in a different location—heard a calm voice in their ears.

[Time's up. Commencing the Reincarnator Mission.]

As the voice of the Lord God echoed, time itself seemed to halt.

A familiar wave of dizziness surged over them, and the three Sannin vanished from their original locations.

When Tsunade regained consciousness, she found herself inside a strangely styled room. The lighting was bright, the window was open, and a soft breeze blew in. Nearby was a woman's bed and a vanity table.

This was… a girl's bedroom?

Being a woman herself, Tsunade instantly recognized the atmosphere—and couldn't help feeling a little exasperated.

Just what kind of world had the Lord God thrown them into this time? The room's aesthetic did somewhat resemble the one from their first mission in the One Piece world…

And this was supposed to be an Ascension Mission. That alone made Tsunade feel a bit uneasy.

Just how much more dangerous would it be?

Beside her, the other two slowly woke up.

Orochimaru sat calmly in a chair, a glimmer of curiosity in his eyes.

Jiraiya, on the other hand, crawled out from under the bed and began brushing dust off his clothes.

"Why am I always the one getting dumped under the bed during these missions?!" he shouted indignantly the moment he emerged, slamming the table in frustration.

This was just bullying at this point!

Tsunade couldn't help but burst out laughing. "Honestly, doesn't it suit you perfectly?"

Just like that, the month-long gap between them was bridged with humor and familiarity.

Sitting to the side, Orochimaru was toying with a strange trinket he'd picked up from the room. He spoke slowly, unhurried.

"This mission has been specially marked by the Lord God as an Ascension Task. The difficulty is greatly increased. We should use the remaining prep time to review each other's progress and exchange for life-saving tools. That would be the safer move."

In battle, every bit of understanding between teammates could affect the outcome.

Thanks to their strong camaraderie, betrayal wasn't even a concern.

"Agreed," Jiraiya said with uncharacteristic seriousness, speaking up first.

"This past month, I trained in Mount Myoboku and mastered Sage Mode. My power has greatly increased. I also exchanged for the partial Sage Body, which dramatically boosted my chakra reserves and endurance."

Tsunade and Orochimaru both nodded.

No need to explain Sage Mode—they understood it well.

After all, Ryuchi Cave and Shikkotsu Forest were on the same level as Mount Myoboku, each being a sacred place of its own. Sage Mode training was something they were quite familiar with.

Once Jiraiya finished his explanation, Tsunade smiled slightly.

She raised her fist—coated in a black metallic sheen.

"Armament Haki."

Both Jiraiya and Orochimaru's eyes lit up.

During the One Piece mission, Tsunade hadn't yet completed her training. Now, it seemed she had successfully mastered Armament Haki!

This ability significantly enhanced both offense and defense—like donning an invisible suit of armor and wielding a formless weapon. A dominant power.

With this, Tsunade's combat strength had undoubtedly soared.

Pleased with their reactions, Tsunade continued.

"And besides Armament Haki, I've also fully mastered the Rokushiki's Soru technique."

This was a skill she had directly exchanged for during the last mission.

In truth, the reason Tsunade progressed so quickly in both Haki and Rokushiki was because her taijutsu was already formidable—even someone like Garp had acknowledged her prowess.

Standing on a higher foundation made mastering these abilities far easier.

Compared to Jiraiya's growth, Tsunade's progress was lightning-fast.

Seeing Jiraiya figuratively turn to stone and go completely gray with shock, Tsunade laughed again.

"Jiraiya, since we're in the system now, we can't limit ourselves to the scope of our own world. We should absorb strengths from other worlds to accelerate our growth and better adapt."

"…Fine."

Jiraiya looked utterly defeated.

While the Naruto world did have many practical jutsu, the truly powerful ones were usually kekkei genkai or dojutsu.

Normal ninjutsu didn't always compare well against other worlds' techniques.

Orochimaru nodded in agreement.

He had recently been completely absorbed in the system's exchange list.

For the first time, the Snake Sage realized—there were so many fascinating skills and powers in the multiverse. The world was far more wondrous than he ever imagined!

And as long as he didn't die during a mission, he would have eternity to study them all.

Becoming a Reincarnator… truly was a blessing.

"I've advanced my vampiric bloodline to the Viscount level. Any higher and I'd need more points," Orochimaru said, with his usual sinister smile.

"But with the Viscount rank, I've awakened several new powers—low-tier telekinesis, bat swarm transformation, and summoning blood bats. My strength has grown significantly as well."

After exchanging notes on their progress, the three Sannin had a clear grasp of one another's improvements.

The next moment, a translucent screen appeared before their eyes, and the Lord God's indifferent voice echoed again.

[Mission will begin in one minute.]

[Current World: Magic World (Fairy Tail)]

Earth-land is a world of magic. Here, those who possess and use magic are called Mages.

Generally, only those who are part of a Guild are recognized as legitimate Mages. As such, many guilds have emerged.

In the magical kingdom of Fiore, there are two of the most renowned guilds:

One is called Phantom Lord.

The other is known as Fairy Tail.
