Chapter 68: 68 - Flying Chairs
Shiratori walked behind Amanagi's chair and placed his hand on the backrest, injecting cursed energy into the chair. He let go and repeated this action, injecting cursed energy into every chair beneath the ninjas present.
The ninjas watched his actions, their faces full of confusion.
Several times they wanted to speak up and ask what he was doing, but the moment their eyes met his serious expression, they all fell silent and didn't interrupt him.
He returned to his seat.
All the ninjas continued to stare at him without blinking.
"What did you do?" Amanagi asked curiously.
He turned and touched his own chair, but couldn't detect any changes. He was even more puzzled.
What exactly had the boy just done?
Shiratori took a deep breath, stretched out both hands, and activated Momo's Tool Manipulation.
The next second, the ninjas sitting on the chairs began to levitate, slowly rising toward the top of the tent. More accurately, it wasn't the ninjas themselves floating, but the chairs beneath them.
They stared, dumbfounded, at the seats under them, their shocked gazes bouncing between Shiratori and the flying chairs.
The chairs could fly?
No, it wasn't that the chairs could fly on their own, it was Shiratori who was controlling the chairs and making them fly.
How in the world did he do that?
The ninjas were stunned, and delighted.
"We're flying!"
"They actually can fly!"
"That means we can cross the quicksand zone now!"
"..."
Excited chatter erupted one after another in the tent.
Shiratori guided the chairs to gently land on the ground.
Amanagi dashed over to him, paying no mind to the fact that Hanzō was still sitting beside him. He grabbed his shoulders tightly and exclaimed, "How did you do that? Can you control more chairs? Is it just chairs you can control? Or can you move other objects too? How high can the chairs go? How long can it last?…"
He fired off questions in rapid succession, like pouring beans from a bag. His breathing was heavy, and his eyes sparkled with excitement as he looked at him. He looked like he wanted to lift Shiratori up and give him a big hug.
Shiratori patiently answered each question one by one.
"This isn't my power, it's the power of cursed energy."
A broom floated beside him. He glanced at it and explained to Amanagi,
"This cursed technique allows me to manipulate objects and make them move."
All the ninjas immediately turned their attention to the broom.
So it wasn't just an ordinary broom.
"I can control more chairs," he continued. "But as for exactly how many, I'm not sure."
He shook his head honestly.
"It's not just chairs, I can move other objects as well."
"As for how high the chairs can fly, it's however high I want. And the duration…"
He did a rough estimate.
"It should last about two hours."
Amanagi could no longer hide the joy on his face. He looked at Shiratori with excitement, he really was the lucky star of Ame.
With him around, all their problems could be solved.
If that wasn't a lucky star, what was?
He immediately turned to Hanzō.
"With Shiratori's ability, we can cross the quicksand zone and catch Suna completely off guard."
His eyes burned with fighting spirit.
The ninjas, hearing Amanagi's words, also got excited. They clenched their fists, ready to fight, and looked eagerly toward Hanzō at the head of the group.
Hanzō glanced at Shiratori out of the corner of his eye. The boy had brought him so many surprises.
Only Chiba remained calm among the ninjas. His gaze passed over the excited crowd and landed on Hanzō, speaking in a calm voice. "If we need to rely on Shiratori's power to cross the quicksand zone, doesn't that mean he has to be part of the surprise attack plan? The ambush is extremely dangerous, I don't think he should be involved."
His words immediately poured a bucket of cold water over the ninjas' heads.
A hesitant expression appeared on Amanagi's face. Having Shiratori participate in the surprise attack was indeed too risky.
But if he didn't take part, how would they get across the quicksand zone?
He found himself stuck in a dilemma.
Just as the atmosphere grew tense and heavy, Hanzō looked at Shiratori, who sat beside him, and asked, "Tell us what you think."
Shiratori looked back at Hanzō, the determined light in his eyes silently conveying his answer. He then turned to look at all the ninjas present.
"I'm willing to take part in the surprise attack!"
His voice echoed in everyone's ears.
"Ridiculous!" Chiba frowned. Beneath his harsh tone was deep concern. "Do you think a surprise attack is some kind of child's game?"
Shiratori looked at him seriously. "Chiba-nisan, stop treating me like a clueless kid! I'm a ninja. I know how dangerous this mission is. But fighting alongside everyone has always been my wish!"
A bright, genuine smile appeared on his face.
"As long as I'm fighting with everyone to protect Ame, I'm not afraid of anything!"

"Yeah! Just leave it to us!"
"We'll definitely bring him back safe and sound!"
"..."
The ninjas all knew that it was Chiba who had brought Shiratori back to the village, and that the bond between them was deep. They understood his concern.
"Please don't worry!"
"For your sake, I'll make sure to come back safely!"
Shiratori looked straight at Chiba with firm focus. The emotion in his eyes was something only Chiba could understand.
Chiba lowered his trembling gaze.
That was the look of a younger brother to his older brother.
