Naruto : Konoha Light

Chapter 49: 49.

Successfully gaining a valuable training partner, Shimizu felt quite pleased.

Over the next several days, he conducted various examinations and treatments on Might Guy's body.

"Truly astonishing physical resilience," Shimizu remarked, carefully inspecting Guy's arm while also expressing some doubt. "With your strength, there's no way you should be losing to regular fourth-year students. But I heard from Zhihui that on the first day of school, you rushed in and immediately collapsed?"

"Haha, I just don't know how to fight!" Guy scratched his head with an embarrassed smile, but his expression soon became more subdued. "Besides, my father doesn't allow me to fight others."

Shimizu continued his treatment as he asked, "Why? Was he worried you'd get hurt?"

Guy shook his head and murmured, "No, he wasn't afraid of causing trouble. Under his fists, no one could beat him."

So it was just a matter of overwhelming strength... Shimizu found this amusing but refrained from commenting. Instead, he asked softly, "You really respect him, don't you?"

"?!"

"During our competition, I heard you muttering to yourself. The kind of power you unleashed could only come from someone desperate to prove themselves... or someone else."

Guy hesitated for a moment before nodding firmly. "Yeah, even though my father is just a regular shinobi, to me, he will always be the strongest!"

"That's why I want to uphold his belief in youth!"

Shimizu withdrew his hands, finishing the examination. "Then, shall we begin today's youth training?"

Guy's enthusiasm ignited. "Of course! Youth starts bright and early every day!"

"Well said! That's my son!" A deep voice echoed from the entrance, and a thick-browed man appeared, striking a dynamic pose.

"Father!"

"Son!"

The two immediately launched into an overly dramatic embrace, shedding tears of passion.

Shimizu stood quietly to the side, observing the scene. Their emotions were overwhelming. If passion were contagious, he feared he might catch it.

After their emotional reunion, Guy finally remembered Shimizu's presence.

"Father, this is Shimizu, our school's most talented student! He's amazing!"

Might Duy gave Shimizu a thumbs-up. "Impressive! To befriend such an outstanding comrade so early, my son, I am truly proud of you!"

Hearing this, father and son embraced once again, crying even harder.

Shimizu waited patiently, though he couldn't help but reflect. While Guy's mannerisms were... unique, it was clear that his future unshakable resolve was deeply rooted in the unwavering support of his father.

After another round of tears, Guy turned to Shimizu with a beaming smile. "Shimizu, thank you for looking after me!"

Shimizu smiled back. "Actually..."

"Did you hear that, Father?! Such an outstanding classmate is calling me his senior! My youth burns even brighter!"

"Yes, my son! Let us burn together!"

As the father and son cried on each other's shoulders once again, Shimizu sighed helplessly.

No wonder Guy's strength wasn't recognized. It was clear now that he lacked a proper team to support him. Without one, he wouldn't be assigned difficult missions, and without those, he had no stage to showcase his abilities.

Seeing the two finally calm down, Shimizu said, "Actually, I should be the one thanking you, Guy. You defeated me in our running competition, helping me realize the true power of belief."

Then, Shimizu immediately fell silent. He could already see the emotional explosion about to erupt.

Sure enough, the very next second—

"Yes! You see, Father?! So long as you work hard, you will always be rewarded!"

Guy looked slightly embarrassed. "No, Father, if it weren't for the jogging competition, I wouldn't have won against Shimizu."

BANG!

In an instant, Might Duy, who had been embracing Guy, suddenly slammed his son to the ground in dramatic disappointment.

"Never belittle your own efforts!"

"Father, I just—"

"If you don't believe in yourself, all your hard work is meaningless!"

"Okay, I understand! I won because of my own efforts!"

Having witnessed enough, Shimizu interjected at the right moment, "Guy truly works incredibly hard. His training is so intense that it has left behind internal injuries in his body."

"What?!" Duy immediately became concerned.

"I'm fine, Father! Shimizu has already examined and treated me."

Hearing this, Guy turned to Shimizu with a pleading look. "Shimizu, can you also examine my father? He trains even harder than I do!"

Another one takes the bait... Shimizu maintained a calm expression, but inwardly, he was pleased. He turned to Duy. "Might Duy, allow me to examine you as well."

Guy excitedly introduced him. "Shimizu is the student of Lady Tsunade herself! His medical skills are incredible!"

"What?! The disciple of Lady Tsunade?!" Duy was visibly shaken. For someone like him, one of the legendary Sannin was practically a godlike figure.

Without hesitation, he grabbed Shimizu's hands in admiration. "To befriend such an outstanding shinobi, my son, I am truly moved!"

As Duy and Guy dramatically embraced yet again, Shimizu quietly pulled his hands free and began his examination.

After a moment of silence, his brows furrowed slightly.

"Shimizu, how is my father's condition?" Guy asked anxiously.

"It's not great... He's accumulated a lot of internal injuries."

"What?! What should we do?!"

"There's no need for excessive concern. As long as he undergoes proper treatment and rest, he should recover... However..." Shimizu hesitated, his eyes filled with curiosity. "How is it possible that his body contains energy nearly on par with Lady Tsunade's strength?"

"What?! Are you serious, Shimizu?" Guy was shocked. "But my father is just a regular shinobi!"

Duy, however, simply nodded. "As expected from Lady Tsunade's disciple—you saw through it immediately."

Guy gasped. "Father, you're amazing!"

Duy gave him a thumbs-up. "Hard work will always be rewarded, my son! You will achieve greatness too!"

The two embraced again, shedding more passionate tears.

Shimizu, standing nearby, remained composed. He was already getting used to this.

Once the tears subsided, Guy suddenly asked, "But Father, if you're so strong, why are you still a regular shinobi?"

Duy's expression grew serious. "Because... self-control!"

"My strength exists only to protect what is most precious to me."

"I understand now! I will also train hard to protect the youth you believe in, Father!"

"Yes!"

"Father!"

And once again, the two cried on each other's shoulders.

Watching this, Shimizu let out a long sigh. People often said that women were like water, but this father and son duo… weren't they made of pure tears?
