Naruto: Konoha's Traitor

Chapter 79: CHAPTER 79

Discovered

Chi Yu and Uchiha Kazuo's blades clashed in a relentless exchange—ninja sword against kunai, metal sparking with each blow.

Chi Yu's draw speed was faster, his swordsmanship honed to precision. But Uchiha Kazuo's Three-Tomoe Sharingan tracked every movement flawlessly. With the clarity of his dōjutsu, he parried Chi Yu's strikes and countered with deadly accuracy.

In close-quarters combat, Chi Yu could gain no upper hand.

After another fierce clash, Chi Yu abruptly disengaged, leaping backward to create distance. His hands blurred into rapid hand seals.

Kazuo's eyes narrowed, his expression shifting from guarded to incredulous.

Those seals…

Chi Yu inhaled deeply and roared, "Fire Style: Ash Pile Burning!"

He exhaled a thick cloud of smoldering ash. The hot, dry powder blanketed the terrain and ignited the forest floor upon contact, flames erupting where trees once stood.

Kazuo swiftly leapt aside, avoiding the searing cloud.

He recognized the technique. Not just the Fire Release—this was the Uchiha clan's own jutsu, one few outside the clan should even know of.

Worse still, the ash was volatile.

After a moment of spreading, a chain of explosions erupted, violently tearing through the underbrush. When the firestorm ceased, the battlefield was engulfed in smoke and flame.

Kazuo crouched, Sharingan spinning as he scanned for movement.

"Where is he…?" he muttered.

He hadn't just lost sight of Chi Yu—he'd lost track of his chakra signature. Even with the Sharingan, visibility was almost zero.

Kazuo didn't understand. Why would Chi Yu know an Uchiha-exclusive jutsu?

Suddenly, the grass rustled to his left.

In a flash, Kazuo formed hand seals and shouted, "Fire Style: Great Dragon Fire Technique!"

A massive stream of flame twisted into the shape of a dragon, surging toward the rustling brush. The flames hit—an explosion followed—and a figure darted from the impact zone.

Kazuo's eyes sharpened. "Got you."

He didn't stop. "Fire Style: Dragon Flame Caterwaul!"

Four fire dragons erupted in unison, arching toward Chi Yu from every direction—above, below, left, and right.

In mid-air, Chi Yu appeared trapped.

But the moment the flames closed in, his body flickered—then burst into lightning.

Kazuo's breath caught. A Lightning Style Shadow Clone?!

Too late—his position was compromised.

A subtle rumble behind him.

Crack.

From the earth behind Kazuo, Chi Yu emerged silently. While the clone served as a decoy, he had used Earth Style: Headhunter Jutsu to burrow beneath the ground unnoticed.

Chi Yu swung his sword low, aiming for Kazuo's legs.

Kazuo's senses screamed—he launched upward just in time to evade the slash.

But Chi Yu was already forming hand seals mid-motion. A shuriken flew from his hand.

"Fire Style: Phoenix Sage Fire Technique!"

Dozens of small flame-infused fireballs, each masking a shuriken, erupted from his sleeve. The flaming projectiles rained upward in a chaotic scatter, closing in on Kazuo.

Thirteen—Kazuo's Sharingan counted them in an instant.

With perfect precision, he deflected each flaming shuriken using his kunai. Sparks lit the sky as steel met steel.

He landed without a scratch.

Chi Yu clicked his tongue. Jonin from a major clan… what a pain.

Even among elite shinobi, Uchiha Kazuo was a cut above. He was more dangerous than Kuroiwa Tatsuji, the Elite Jonin Chi Yu had fought weeks earlier.

Kazuo's eyes darkened. "Where did you learn our clan's Fire Style jutsu?"

Chi Yu smirked. "Where, you ask? Why don't you ask your precious clan head—and his son?"

Kazuo froze.

"I never imagined Uchiha Fugaku would come personally to apologize," Chi Yu continued mockingly. "He even gave me some of the clan's fire jutsu and Sharingan application notes. Honestly, it was surprising."

"Lies!" Kazuo barked. "Fugaku would never bow to the likes of you! And Masaki-sama would never allow it!"

Chi Yu shrugged. "Believe what you want. Ask Masaki and Fugaku yourself. But I've gotta admit—your clan's techniques? Not bad."

Kazuo clenched his fists. His pride wouldn't let him accept it. The idea that the head of the Uchiha clan would bend to Chi Yu, of all people, was unthinkable.

He was about to retort when—

"What are you two doing?!"

A powerful voice cut through the tension.

Jiraiya landed between them in an instant, flanked by a group of shinobi. Uchiha Kyosuke and four others arrived as well, eyes darting over the scorched terrain in disbelief.

More shinobi converged on the scene, drawn by the massive chakra signatures and explosions.

Jiraiya frowned, gaze flicking between the two combatants. "Explain. Now."

Kazuo's heart sank. Damn it... I lost control.

Chi Yu calmly sheathed his blade and turned to Jiraiya.

"What happened?" he echoed. "I was waiting for my teammates at the designated rendezvous point when he approached—started threatening me, and then attacked me without warning. I had no choice but to defend myself."

He glanced around at the other shinobi.

"Tell me, Lord Jiraiya—can someone who tries to kill a comrade really be trusted on the battlefield? What would've happened if this had been during a mission?"

Murmurs stirred among the onlookers.

Kazuo snarled, "Lies! He provoked me first! He insulted the Uchiha clan, mocked me, and baited me into attacking!"

His hands trembled with fury.

It made sense now—Chi Yu had planned it. He provoked Kazuo deliberately, knowing they were close enough to camp that a battle would draw attention. His goal wasn't just to fight… he wanted Kazuo punished.
