Naruto: Kushina's Redemption, My Revenge

Chapter 51: Chapter 51: A Conversation with Minato Namikaze

Chinya and Orochimaru had been discussing matters inside the tent for quite some time.

Unknowingly, Chinya had become deeply involved in the discussion, offering many suggestions.

By the time they finished talking, it was already late into the night.

They temporarily agreed on a plan to launch a surprise attack on the Hidden Hot Water Village, and Orochimaru decided to carry it out the next night.

After their conversation, Orochimaru said to Chinya, "Chinya, there was one thing you said that was incorrect."

Throughout the discussion, Chinya had learned a great deal from Orochimaru.

The plan he proposed contained many loopholes.

Orochimaru thought of solutions for every possible flaw that might lead to failure during the operation.

Therefore, hearing that Orochimaru pointed out another mistake didn't surprise Chinya at all.

Since Orochimaru brought it up, he likely already had a solution in mind.

Chinya nodded and said, "My approach does have many points that lack rigor. Master Orochimaru, what specific issue do you have?"

Orochimaru shook his head and smiled. "I'm not referring to the operational plan itself. In my opinion, our current plan is already the best we could possibly devise under these circumstances."

Chinya asked suspiciously, "Not about the operation plan's mistake? Then what's wrong?"

Orochimaru spoke seriously, "Earlier, you said I was the only reinforcement Konoha sent. That wasn't accurate. Actually, besides me... there's also you. Your assessment of the situation truly impressed me.

Strength alone does not determine whether someone is a leader. What matters more is overall perspective and situational awareness. You certainly have the qualities of a true leader.

In my view, this war will be your stepping stone—you'll become an extremely important figure in this war and gain fame throughout the Shinobi World."

Now no longer pretending, Chinya smiled as well and replied, "If I can become famous, then that'd be perfect."

At this moment, Chinya and Orochimaru were very much in sync, each understanding the other without further words.

Gaining fame through this war would naturally lead Chinya into Konoha's core circle.

And Orochimaru also needed someone within that inner circle to discreetly support his more sensitive operations.

...

Chinya left the tent intending to rest.

After days of nonstop travel and diving straight into planning after arriving, Chinya was feeling pretty worn out now. Plus, they were launching a surprise attack on the Hidden Hot Water Village tomorrow night.

Someone had already set up a tent for Chinya to rest in.

As Chinya made his way to his tent, his eyes narrowed slightly.

Standing ahead was Minato Namikaze.

It seemed like Minato Namikaze had been waiting for him.

Chinya couldn't understand why Minato Namikaze would wait for him—they didn't seem to have anything significant to talk about.

Minato Namikaze approached Chinya with a bright smile. "Chinya, I didn't get a chance to say hello earlier. Seems like it's been a while."

Chinya arched a brow. "Does it really matter if we meet or not?"

Minato Namikaze hesitated for a moment but smiled. "We're from the same village. And we were rivals at the Academy too… I've always considered you my friend."

Chinya smirked coldly and bluntly said, "I don't have any friends. On the contrary, I actually hate you."

Hearing Chinya openly say he hated him, Minato Namikaze's smile immediately faded. He asked in confusion, "Why do you hate me? Is it because of what happened at the Ninja Academy? But that was so many years ago, wasn't it?"

Chinya scoffed, "Should I just forget because it's been so long? I'm someone who never lets even the smallest grudge go unpaid. Grudges I can repay now, I repay now. Those that cannot be settled now, I will settle when the chance comes."

Minato fixed his gaze on Chinya and asked, "Is this about Kushina? The two people who were responsible back then have already been punished. Why do you insist on holding onto this? After all, we're from the same village. Even if we aren't friends, we should still be comrades."

Chinya spoke mockingly, "Minato Namikaze, such a big heart you've got! Of course, you're adored by everyone—you get along with every person, becoming friends with them all. Meanwhile, someone like me—on the fringes—dwelling on what you consider minor conflicts, must seem completely unreasonable to you, right?"

Minato frowned, "I didn't say that, nor did I think it."

Chinya sneered sarcastically, "Minato Namikaze, to me, you're nothing but a hypocrite. Perhaps inside you're arguing against this, thinking that I simply dislike you and thus label you as hypocritical. But your actions are indistinguishable from those of a truly hypocritical person."

The frown lines on Minato's forehead deepened further, "What exactly did I do for you to see me this way?"

Chinya shrugged helplessly, "Let's leave the past aside for now. Take this moment, for instance: you opposed my plan just now because it might cause many casualties, right?"

Minato silently nodded, confirming Chinya's words were accurate.

Chinya spread out his hands, "Then there you go—that's proof enough of your hypocrisy."

Stunned by Chinya's response, Minato asked, "How does that make me a hypocrite?"

Shaking his head in exasperation, Chinya said, "I don't know whether you truly don't understand or if you're just pretending. Before Orochimaru-sensei and I arrived here, the situation in the Land of Hot Water was already dire. If things continued like this, the number of people dying would only keep increasing.

If this plan succeeds, the Cloud ninja won't dare act recklessly again, and we won't be trapped in such a passive position. Fewer sacrifices will be made in the future.

But if we don't seek change and push the frontline forward, leaving aside the people dying here, once full-scale war breaks out and the Cloud ninja eventually breach the borders of the Land of Fire, how many lives do you think will be lost?

Can you even do simple math? Compared to the people dying here, can't you tell which outcome is lighter and which is heavier?"

Minato replied gravely, "Chinya, they're people, not figures on a ledger!"

Chinya looked at Minato and started laughing—his laughter grew louder and louder until finally he was clutching his stomach.

Between gasping breaths, Chinya managed to say, "Minato Namikaze, I apologize—I take back what I said. You aren't a hypocrite after all. It seems you truly mean well after all."

Minato Namikaze remained silent, but his displeasure was evident on his face.

Once she stopped laughing, Chinya said, "Minato Namikaze, I know you don't like me either. We both dislike each other, so let's not pretend. You're only getting to know me now because we might end up fighting together later.

Well then, that's all. I don't feel like wasting more time talking to you. I'm going to rest now."

Chinya walked past Minato Namikaze and headed straight toward her own tent.
