Naruto: Kushina's Redemption, My Revenge

Chapter 90: Chapter 90 Standing on My Side

Danzo urged Hiruzen Sarutobi to consider the Uchiha Clan matter sooner rather than later.

Hiruzen fell into deep thought.

He naturally knew what the Uchiha Clan wanted, given how actively they had been participating in the war.

But there was absolutely no way he would ever allow the Uchiha Clan back into Konoha's center of power again.

The Uchiha Clan now faced widespread disdain throughout Konoha.

It wasn't just Danzo, who hated the Uchihas, that wanted to deal with them—Hiruzen himself wanted them removed.

Still, the Uchiha Clan held too much power. Even as Hokage, he couldn't afford to move against them too aggressively.

Besides, with the ongoing war, Konoha itself was stretched thin and in no position to deal with internal conflicts.

The military might of the Uchiha Clan had become especially vital.

What troubled Hiruzen most was what would happen after the war.

Given how actively the Uchihas had participated in combat, their contribution to the war effort was bound to be seen as the greatest.

And being already Konoha's largest clan, controlling the Konoha Military Police Force, how much more could possibly be given to them as reward?

Could they possibly expect the title of Hokage itself?

Moreover, the Uchihas had long been arrogant and domineering within Konoha society. Granting them additional authority would surely provoke discontent among others.

Tensions between the Uchiha Clan and the rest of Konoha society were bound to worsen.

If this continued, once that tension erupted, it would spiral completely out of control.

Considering Danzo's suggestion, Hiruzen frowned and asked, "Do you mean we should promote Chinya to counterbalance the Uchiha? But can Chinya really handle this?"

Danzo replied coldly, "In my opinion, only Chinya is suitable. He bears the Uchiha bloodline legacy. If we push him forward, others will perceive it merely as an internal Uchiha conflict. Besides, isn't he receiving our support?"

Hiruzen tightly furrowed his brows while puffing on his pipe, "Chinya is only a jonin. We need some sort of official justification if we're going to promote him."

Danzo cut in, "Root's support alone should be more than enough."

Hiruzen remained silent for a long time before tapping the ashes from his pipe and saying, "Let's focus on the war first. These issues can wait until after the war ends. Even if we eventually decide to use Chinya to contain the Uchiha, we must raise his reputation somewhat first. Otherwise, it won't produce any significant effect."

A slight smirk appeared at the corner of Danzo's mouth. Familiar as he was with Hiruzen, he clearly understood in his heart that Hiruzen had already agreed to his proposal.

...

Chinya arrived at Mito Uzumaki's residence.

Coincidentally, Kushina Uzumaki had no mission today and was at home.

Before Chinya could even knock on the door, Kushina had already opened it wide, rushed out, and tightly embraced Chinya.

Seeing Chinya again made Kushina extremely happy. "Chinya, you've finally come back to see me!"

Chinya gently ruffled Kushina's hair. "Yeah, how have you been lately? Everything okay?"

Kushina pouted slightly and said, "You know how it is, right?"

"I've been applying to go to the Land of Hot Water repeatedly, but every request gets rejected. Come on! I'm pretty strong now too, you know!"

Chinya chuckled. "Alright, there's nothing we can do if they won't let you go. Besides, I'm heading to the Land of Grass next. Even if you went to the Land of Hot Water, it wouldn't make any difference."

Kushina Uzumaki gasped in surprise. "Eh? Are you going to the Land of Grass, Chinya?"

He nodded. "Yes, my transfer order already came through. I'll stay in Konoha for a few more days before heading out to the Land of Grass."

Her eyes lit up. "A few days? Does that mean you're not leaving immediately?"

Whenever Chinya returned to Konoha before, he would meet Kushina Uzumaki briefly and then leave right away.

Kushina jumped up excitedly. "Great! Then let's go out and have some fun! Why don't you fill me in on your time in the Land of Hot Water while we're out?"

Chinya took Kushina around Konoha, telling her about some funny things that happened during his time in the Land of Hot Water.

By evening, Chinya carried an exhausted Kushina back to Mito Uzumaki's residence.

After laying Kushina down on the bed in her room, Chinya didn't leave the estate. Instead, he actively sought out Mito Uzumaki.

Mito sat in the living room, and upon hearing the knock, responded in her slightly raspy voice, "Come in, Chinya."

Chinya entered the living room and looked at Mito, who appeared visibly older than the last time he'd seen her.

Looking at Chinya, Mito sighed. "You and Kushina have both grown up. Both are capable of carrying responsibilities on your own now."

Then she asked, "It's been many years, and this is actually the first time you've come to see me on your own initiative. So tell me, what brings you here today?"

Chinya spoke candidly, "I don't mean any disrespect, Lady Mito, but I want to ask you a question. How much time… do you have left?"

Mito fixed her gaze on Chinya, her eyes full of affection without the slightest change in expression. "You actually meant to ask about how much time Kushina has left, didn't you? At least I can hold on for another three years."

Chinya's eyes flickered slightly.

Three years. That would be a year after Kushina turns eighteen.

Mito shook her head gently. "Chinya, can't you still accept Kushina becoming the Jinchūriki? Living in Konoha, there are things we cannot decide for ourselves. My time is nearly up, and Kushina is the most suitable candidate for the next Jinchūriki. This has already become a settled matter."

Chinya stated firmly, "Not yet it isn't. True, some things are beyond our control, but changes can happen. Lady Mito, there's something I must ask of you."

Mito replied kindly, "As long as it's within my ability, I will try my best to help."

Chinya looked straight into Mito's eyes. "If circumstances should unexpectedly shift regarding Kushina becoming the Jinchūriki, I hope you will stand by my side!"

Mito stared at Chinya in astonishment.

Chinya wasn't the kind of person to shoot arrows blindly into the dark.

For him to say this, it meant he might actually have found a way to prevent Kushina from becoming the Jinchūriki.

Mito Uzumaki asked, "Can you tell me what the turning point is?"

Chinya replied, "I haven't found the person yet. If I locate her and bring her back to Konoha, then the turning point will emerge."

Mito Uzumaki slightly frowned, then asked in shock, "So this is why you suddenly transferred to the Land of Grass?"

Chinya admitted, "Yes, I transferred to the Land of Grass specifically for this matter."

Mito Uzumaki had always kept a close eye on Chinya's matters, so she found out about his transfer to the Land of Grass right away.

The turning point that could change whether Kushina Uzumaki became the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki...

Then the person Chinya mentioned could only be Kushina Uzumaki and the remaining orphaned descendants of the Uzumaki clan.
