Chapter 121: MSOC: Chapter 121
"Kai, what's this mission?"
Uchiha Fugaku's face showed worry. He feared Kai might cause trouble, or be treated unfairly.
"Let me see," Kai unfurled the scroll, smiling wryly at the contents.
"Kai, what's wrong? If the mission is too much, I'll help you," Uchiha Fugaku's nerves tensed. He was stunned to see the scroll's contents.
"Graduation exam for the new generation?"
Yes.
The Third Hokage's mission was to oversee the graduation exam. The Third Great Ninja War was nearing its end, but at a terrible cost. New students were constantly being sent to the front lines.
"Kai, are you sure you can handle this? If not, you can refuse," Uchiha Fugaku was surprised. He found this graduation exam troublesome.
"No, this is interesting. Let me give these brats a memorable graduation exam," Kai smiled warmly, finishing his milk and leaving with his bread.
Uchiha Fugaku shivered, feeling a chill down his spine. Knowing Kai's unconventional methods, he quickly followed.
Konoha's Ninja Academy, established by the Second Hokage, was a standardized training facility with professional teachers and a broad curriculum. However, this sheltered environment paled in comparison to Kirigakure's Blood Mist, Kumogakure's emphasis on combat, Iwagakure's harsh trials, and Sunagakure's elite training. In the long run, the academy would provide a more comprehensive education, giving everyone a chance to become a ninja.
"Itachi, you're not using a shadow clone for class, are you?"
Uchiha Izumi suddenly appeared at the academy gates, her eyes scanning behind Itachi, clutching a lunchbox.
"Stop looking. My brother is not here. He's sleeping," Uchiha Itachi said expressionlessly. In the original story, he was single due to his strength. He only showed emotion when acting as a doting brother; otherwise, he was cold and uninterested.
"Itachi, you're lying. I wasn't waiting for Kai-san," Uchiha Izumi mumbled, blushing.
"It's the upperclass graduation exam today. Are you going to watch?"
"Itachi, don't walk too fast. Can I go to your house after school?"
Dozens of students gathered in the courtyard for the exam. Due to the war, there was a severe shortage of teachers. Only a few remained.
Sarutobi Rou was the acting principal. Nara Shikaku and Yamanaka Inoichi were the homeroom teachers. They were also Konoha strategists.
"There are a lot of graduates this year—forty-eight," Yamanaka Inoichi said, a few years older than Minato. Seeing the excited students, he sighed.
"It seems like a lot, but with the war, it's a drop in the bucket. They'll need blood and fire to truly grow," Nara Shikaku sighed. Remembering their graduating class of over a hundred, few had survived the war.
They knew the academy gave everyone a chance to become a ninja, increasing the number of ninjas. But compared to the elite training of other villages, it fell short.
"Don't worry too much. The war is almost over. They might not need to go to the front lines," Sarutobi Rou said.
"This class has some outstanding students."
"Rou is right. If the students heard us, it would be bad," Yamanaka Inoichi said, looking around.
"In my class, there's Ibiki, Hizashi Hyuga, Mizuki, Gangō, and Iruka Umino."
"Haha, I have more top students in my class," Nara Shikaku chuckled. "Not only Hiashi Hyuga, and Sarutobi Asuma..."
"They're all top-tier students. They're outstanding."
Seeing the teachers boasting, Sarutobi Rou shook his head. "Why hasn't the supervising advisor arrived?"
"Who will supervise this exam? Jiraiya-sama and Tsunade-sama are in Konoha."
For fairness, the Hokage usually chose a strong and respected person to supervise.
"Minato supervised last time. The students cheered when 'Konoha's Yellow Flash' appeared, eager to impress," Yamanaka Inoichi laughed.
"That was the most exciting graduation."
Time passed quickly. As the exam time approached, the supervisor hadn't arrived. Sarutobi Rou frowned.
"Teachers, long time no see," a cheerful voice called from behind.
They were surprised to see the person.
"Kushina, you're the supervisor?" Yamanaka Inoichi was startled.
Kushina was around their age and Minato's contemporary. But as the jinchuriki, she was confined to Konoha, lacking the experience and reputation of previous supervisors.
"Don't misunderstand. I'm here to maintain order, per the Hokage's orders," Kushina said quickly, guessing their thoughts.
Maintain order?
Yamanaka Inoichi and the others were surprised.
"Kushina, you mean this person's arrival will be even more sensational than Minato's?" Sarutobi Rou frowned.
"Even Jiraiya-sama and Tsunade-sama can't compare to Minato's popularity among the students,"
Nara Shikaku nodded. Minato was strong, handsome, kind, and the top choice for many female ninjas.
"Don't look at me. I was also informed at the last minute. Otherwise, I wouldn't be up so early," Kushina yawned.
Being a jinchuriki meant she couldn't leave the village unless on a mission. It felt like being caged.
