Chapter 8: CHAPTER 8
Nikkei glanced down at his waist. The bell was clearly still hanging there. For a moment, he seemed to understand something. He reached for the bell and, in an instant, he realized something was wrong.
"Don't tell me...?" Nikkei hadn't finished speaking when—
Pop! The bell disappeared in a burst of smoke, revealing it had been transformed into Shigure.
Both Hongdie and Haguki stared, disbelief in their eyes.
"Ms. Hyuga, before the Fireball Jutsu, my shadow clone touched the bell on your waist. Do you remember?" Shigure's voice called from a distance.
"I remember," Hyuga Nissa replied, nodding.
"Yes, at that moment, you used two Jūken strikes to knock out one of my shadow clones. When the other clone was hit, thick smoke rose suddenly."
Shigure explained further, "And when one of the shadow clones disappeared, the other turned into thick smoke. With the acupuncture points and chakra pathways all visible to you through your Byakugan, you were sure the clone had been struck by the Jūken and had disappeared. At that point, you focused all your attention on my Fireball Jutsu."
"You mean, the first shadow clone I hit disappeared, and the second one didn't disappear at all but used a transformation technique and turned into a bell?" Nissa asked, slightly shocked. He hadn't expected this level of strategic thinking from a newly graduated Genin.
Just then, the Shigure who had been speaking shook his head and said, "Sorry, teacher. I'm actually the shadow clone," and with a poof, he vanished.
The Shigure who had turned into the bell was, in fact, Shigure's real body.
Both Hongdie and Nanxiong looked at Shigure in shock. This move had completely blown their minds.
"Using the smoke from the shadow clone, relying on my own confidence in the Byakugan and my skills... the precision of my control and techniques..." Hyuga Nissa trailed off, still processing.
"This guy... I'm beginning to understand why the Third Hokage specially asked me to look after 'Class 7.'" Nissa thought to himself, realizing that Shigure was no ordinary genius.
"Take it!" Shigure tossed the bell he had snatched to the still-dazed Nanxiong Hagi.
"Huh? What do you mean?" Hagi asked, confused, as he began to hand the bell back.
"Wait, there are only two bells—one for Hongdie and one for you. As a team, if you don't help each other and recognize each other's worth, then this isn't really a team at all," Shigure explained, shrugging off the title of Shinobi as if it didn't matter.
"Strength is what matters. Who cares about a title?" Shigure added nonchalantly.
"Shigure!" Nanxiong Hagi muttered, a mix of guilt and reluctance in his voice. He had been so focused on defeating Nissa earlier that he hadn't considered anything else. The bell in his hand felt warm, but he didn't know what to do with it.
"Shigure!" Hongdie said, her voice soft but sincere. She had been watching Shigure carefully, but the depth of his actions today had surprised her.
At the same time, both Hongdie and Nanxiong tossed the bell back to Shigure almost simultaneously.
Hyuga Nissa, quick to react, grabbed the bell with one hand and smiled softly at the three of them. His stern demeanor softened just a bit.
"Congratulations! The entire team has passed the test!" Nissa said, his voice now more welcoming.
"Your performance was truly impressive! It's not just your strength that stands out, but also your teamwork and open-mindedness!" Hyuga Nissa praised, reaching out to pat each of them on the head. "You've succeeded! From today, you're officially a part of Team 7!"
"Haha!" The three of them exchanged looks, sharing a moment of understanding as they had fought side by side. They had learned a lot about each other and had come to recognize their differences.
The bond was now solidified.
Shigure breathed a sigh of relief. The battle had gone well, with no major mistakes. The most surprising part had been when Hyuga Nissa used Huitian. When Shigure had transformed into the bell, he had nearly gagged at the sensation—though his body had turned into the bell, it still felt real.
After this battle, the three ninja squads were officially established, with one squad led by Konoha's Kaminari and the other by Hyuga Nissa.
The three of them now had a deeper understanding of each other.
Later, when Shigure returned home, he was excited—not because of the test itself, but because of what he had gained. He couldn't help but think of the three words: Shuangfantian (Double Happiness).
The reason for his excitement was simple: Shigure had copied his teacher's techniques!
"Jūken, known as Konoha's strongest style! A style that directly targets the chakra network! This fills the gap in my own close-range physical combat! And unless someone from the Hyuga clan closely examines it, they won't be able to tell that I've used Jūken."
"Bagua Empty Palm! A high-density chakra shockwave fired from the air to attack distant targets! This technique makes up for my lack of medium to long-range physical attacks!"
"Bagua Zhang Huitian! A secret technique passed down in the Hyuga clan, so rare that even most Hyuga clan members aren't qualified to learn it. It's said to be able to deflect all physical attacks, making it a perfect defense!"
"This technique seems to rely mainly on releasing chakra from acupoints. The more chakra you can release, the larger the range and longer the defense. And somehow, I was able to replicate it!?"
"To use this, you need both the Three Tomoe Sharingan and the Byakugan! This is amazing! Though I couldn't replicate the Sixty-Four Palms, there's always a chance, right?" Shigure thought as he practiced tirelessly at home.
As a wielder of both the Three Tomoe Sharingan and the Byakugan, Shigure felt incredibly fortunate. Not only had he become a Genin, but he had also unlocked some of the Hyuga clan's greatest techniques.
Ordinary people had no chance of learning these techniques. Without the Byakugan, the power of the Hyuga clan's Jūken would be nearly impossible to grasp.
But with his Byakugan, Shigure could see the chakra pathways and acupoints clearly, allowing him to maximize the essence of Jūken.
Shigure continued to practice late into the night. Just as he was about to fall asleep, he suddenly became alert. When he opened his Byakugan, he saw three figures sneaking into his house.
He recognized them immediately.
"Aren't these three from the Uchiha clan? Why are they here so late? And why do they look like they want to kill me?" Shigure thought, narrowing his eyes.
Without hesitation, he used Shadow Clone Jutsu to create three clones and disguised himself.
"Better safe than sorry," Shigure thought as he hid quietly.
"Hush! He must be here!" One of the figures said, and Shigure immediately recognized the voice.
"Uchiha..." Shigure whispered under his breath, squinting his eyes and clenching his fists.
