Chapter 138: Chapter 138

Seeing Uchiha Haruki hesitate, as if he wanted to say something but held back, the Iwa-nin lying in the hospital bed thought there might be something wrong with his injury. He grew anxious and quickly asked, "What's the matter?"

"Uh…" Haruki paused for a moment, pretending to struggle with the decision. Then, as if reluctantly making up his mind, he said, "You know, with this war going on, a lot of our comrades have been injured. But we only have a handful of medical ninja. I want to help as many of them as possible and ease their pain, but…"

"But what?" asked the Iwa-nin who had just been healed. The others in the tent perked up, listening closely.

Haruki glanced around at them, as if making a difficult decision. Then he said, "But I don't have enough chakra. I simply can't help that many people."

"Is there anything we can do to help?" came a voice—not from the ninja Haruki had just treated, but from another Iwa-nin in the tent, one who was still seriously injured.

Clearly, he was desperate to receive treatment himself. And just by saying "we," he dragged the others into the conversation too.

Haruki seized the opportunity immediately and said, "I know a jutsu that lets me absorb chakra. If it's for the sake of saving more people… would you all be willing to contribute some of your chakra?"

Yes—this time, Haruki wasn't planning to take chakra by force. Instead, he was going for a subtler route: a bold move hidden under a noble purpose—to absorb chakra openly and without suspicion.

After all, they were deep in enemy territory. Using force here would only risk drawing attention. Why not lay everything on the table and appeal to righteousness?

It wouldn't allow him to drain their chakra completely, but it would open the door to more targets, making up for the lower yield through volume.

And more importantly, even if someone did find out, it wouldn't be a problem.

Because, technically, he was healing people.

"Absorb our chakra?" All the Iwa-nin frowned. Chakra, after all, was life to a ninja.

The tent fell into an uneasy silence.

"Is the process dangerous?" the injured ninja who had spoken earlier asked. He was clearly the most anxious for treatment, and his question finally broke the deadlock.

"Absolutely not!" Haruki answered immediately and with full confidence.

Then he lowered his voice slightly and added, "And I won't absorb too much… just about half. It's just… there are too many injured."

Hearing that, the Iwa-nin began to relax. If it was just half, that was still manageable.

Besides, the front lines had quieted down. They were no longer expected to go back into battle. The rear was relatively safe, with patrols and security all around—danger was unlikely.

So if that was the case, giving up some chakra wasn't a big deal.

After a moment of thought, several of the Iwa-nin nodded and declared:

"For the village, and for our comrades, we'll gladly contribute some of our chakra."

Heh… "gladly," huh? If it weren't for the fact you're begging me to heal you, would you really be so eager? Haruki sneered internally.

But on the outside, his expression turned emotional—almost tearful, as if moved by their selflessness.

Then he turned to the Iwa-nin he had just healed.

The man hesitated, glanced at the others in the tent, and seeing them all watching him, sighed and held out his hand.

"It's my duty!"

Clearly, he didn't dare go back on his word now.

Haruki gave a genuine smile. Then, forming hand seals at high speed, he activated his Chakra Absorption Technique and gripped the man's palm.

To avoid spooking him, Haruki intentionally slowed the absorption, pulling chakra at a rate of just 100 points per second.

And just as he'd hoped, the Iwa-nin visibly relaxed after feeling how slow and steady it was.

After a few seconds, Haruki let go and said, "Alright. I'll go help the next one."

He walked over to the injured ninja who had spoken up earlier. This one was in bad shape—bandages wrapped around multiple parts of his body.

As before, Haruki first asked about the injuries. Once he confirmed they were all external wounds, he carefully unwrapped the bandages and examined the damage.

After a moment, he nodded confidently. "It's not too serious. I can treat it."

Hearing that, the Iwa-nin let out a sigh of relief and, even before Haruki began, said:

"Just leave me with one-third of my chakra. I hope you can help more people."

"Uh…" Haruki paused briefly, then nodded.

Without saying more, he began cleaning the wounds carefully. Once that was done, he activated his Healing Technique and started treatment.

This time, it took longer—almost fifteen minutes before the injuries were mostly healed.

Haruki withdrew his hand and advised, "Your injuries are still severe. You'll need at least a week of rest. No intense physical activity during that time."

"Understood. Thank you!"

As he spoke, the Iwa-nin held out his hand.

Haruki didn't hesitate—he used the Chakra Absorption Technique again and drew out about two-thirds of the man's chakra.

In this way, Haruki moved from patient to patient, treating all seven Iwa-nin in the tent—and, naturally, absorbing their chakra as well.

After stepping outside, he opened his system panel and checked the results.

His Healing Technique proficiency had increased by nearly 100 points, and his chakra reserve had gone up by about 3,000 points.

To be honest, 3,000 chakra wasn't much.

But considering how quickly his healing skill was leveling up, Haruki let it slide.

Meat's already in the pot. Chakra's chakra, no matter where it comes from.

Feeling his chakra almost at the overflow point, Haruki didn't rush to the next tent. Instead, he returned to his "personal quarters."

Once he confirmed no one had entered, he sat cross-legged and began practicing Mind Reflection Technique, consuming the excess chakra within him.

An hour passed.

The Mind Reflection Technique had gained 60 proficiency points. And the evolution progress of his Sharingan rose by the same amount.

His chakra was now down to about half.

Without delay, Haruki stepped out again and returned to another tent full of wounded Iwa-nin.

The process repeated exactly as before—heal one, propose the "moral sacrifice," and let peer pressure do the rest.

Just like that, Haruki continued racking up healing experience and chakra gains.

He made his way through three more tents, treating nearly twenty people. Once again, his chakra reached its max capacity. He went back to his quarters and resumed training the Mind Reflection Technique.

Each time his chakra dropped to half, he'd go back out, treat the wounded, harvest chakra, raise his healing proficiency—and repeat.

From midday to afternoon, and then from afternoon to evening, Uchiha Haruki, under the alias "Senmokuishi," moved constantly between tents.

He tirelessly treated injured Iwa-nin, pausing only occasionally for "rest." He was, without question, the very picture of a model medical ninja.

During this time, someone inevitably noticed that he was absorbing chakra.

But to no one's surprise, no one cared.

Because beyond the absorption, Haruki really was healing people—seriously, diligently, and effectively.

As long as no one dug deeper, there was no reason to suspect a thing.
